That Chapter has a great video on the Gainesville Ripper. That guy was a true piece of s**t. You know it's bad when the kills in Scream are actually toned down from the actual murders.
This was great. I had no idea the killer was loosely based on a real person. I just thought this was a meta horror that expanded on New Nightmare's concept of self awareness in the horror genre. But its interesting to see how this story compared to the real events.
Did research project on it near halloween last year while wearing a ghostface costume. The killings were very brutal, even surprised me with how violent the scenes of the crime were.
Without going into TOO much detail, the Gainesville Ripper had a habit of decapitation and posing victims. This is more in line with Michael Myers, which makes Billy’s quote “Movie don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative” even more frightening. It makes you wonder what media he’d watch.
Best decade for horror was the 80's when it got to the 90's it hit a dead end scream definitely gave it a Resurgence it being self aware the humor the performances brand knew horror villain in Ghostface just a classic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A modern Classic. One of the Best Intros Ever. It was unbelievable. Killing off a Star in the opening Segment!? Great job by the young, then unknown actors. Wes Craven is a True Master.
I grew up with the Scream movies. My sister had one of the original Ghostface costumes released after Scream 2 was released. These films also shaped my love of not just horror but all cinema. Recently I went to a convention which happened to fall on Halloween dressed up as Ghostface (25th anniversary robe); most popular cosplay I’d ever done. Stoked for the sixth film in March of 2023!
I'm old enough to remember the actual crimes and subsequent trial. Way back in the day when that asshole Danny Rolling was on trial, there was footage of him singing in court sounding like a fool. Folks joked he looked and acted like a Bill Murray character 😀
I was 17 the year scream came out...i was in juvenile detention its opening weekend...a guy got brought in that had just left the theater when he got arrested and brought in...about 25 of us delinquents sitting in the dark while this guy tells us the whole movie scene by scene lol we were all laughing and asking so many questions about the movie and the actors. He explained as much as he could under the circumstances...the day i went home i went and saw the movie and loved it though i knew it all the way through...
Ugh this movie taught me it’s not worth it answering strange calls it’s one thing to be killed but it’s another to have to get sassed over your horror movie knowledge before so .
Saying Scream is based on a true story is like saying, the Fast and the Furious is based on the life of Henry Ford, because they both have cars in them.
SCREAM is such an overrated movie. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good. It’s never been scary to me though. They put too much emphasis on characters being funny that they forgot to actually add suspense and scare in the movie. Overall, it’s extremely overrated
this is the movie that got me into horror when i was 13 and it just came out. to this day, a brilliant classic. scream 2 also. i just rewatched #5 last night and it’s still ok but wasn’t as much fun as the first time i saw it, while i’ve seen the original close to 60 times and it is always entertaining.
