He starred as the second live-action Captain America back in the 80's, if I'm not mistaken. They made two made-for-tv movies with him as Captain America
@@yinkaoyekunle9533 he's the first Captain America, anyone wants to check out more bad Reb Brown B-movies, try Space Mutiny(Mystery Science Theater made a popular reaction to this), Robowar and my favorite of his Yor: Hunter from the Future.
Reb Brown was the OG Captain America in the 70’s. Did a bunch of great SBIG movies too. Got to meet him at Wichita ComiCon a few years ago. Very old now, but a cool guy. He totally owns his B-movie status.
He was also the lead in Yor: Hunter from the Future and Space Mutiny, two of the best so bad it’s good movies that you guys have yet to watch for the channel. So worth it in both instances. Space Mutiny is even on youtube! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mFXZ1pdxfxI.html
The role he's best known for now (at least in my circles) is Dave Ryder aka Blast Hardcheese (one of his many MST3K nicknames) from the movie "Space Mutiny," a South African z-movie that is so bad it's awesome. Reb yells slightly less than he does in this one.
The bit with the kid who says he wants to be american to the US soldier is exactly like the San Andreas Jack Howitzer radio trailers. Pure comedy gold.
Ever since the old Spoony Experiment covered Reb Brown I've been happy to see him elsewhere. About to watch the video, and I'm confident you're all going to love it. Fantastic choice.
@@JasonBrant He was an Internet Reviewer about a decade or so ago, was part of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses/Channel Awesome, and he used to do a lot of reviews of Reb Brown stuff :D
@@JasonBrant Here's one of his Rebruary - Brown History Month vids (the intro itself is awesome/hilarious) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fw1jDwBeZGg.html
Reb Brown was also featured in Space Mutiny, (also starring Cameron Mitchell), as well as The Howling 2: Your Sister is a Werewolf, (with Christopher Lee). He's also been in several other B-Movies from that time period.
Fuck yeah! REB BROWN!!!!! (He is the original Captain America btw) Strike Commando, Yor Hunter from the Future, Robowar, Howling 2, Cage 1 and 2, and more! he is awesome!
@@thepayne7862 There where 2 episodes, the 1st one is kinda boring on a rewatch, 2nd one is a little better. They are quite funny tho', also, 2nd one has Christopher Lee. (Reb and Lee have 2 movies together, the other one is Howling 2)
@@thepayne7862 Everyone hated Howling 2 because its "bad" and its not as serious as the 1st one, but i absolutely love it, i just found it very entertaining and funny. Also, the theme song by Babel is awesome!
You'll be thrilled to learn that Strike Commando has not been covered by RedLetterMedia. It WAS covered by The Spoony One, if anyone remembers that guy, and his video on it is still pretty funny (even if it's a reupload by someone else).
Come on guys! You don't know who Reb Brown is right off the bat??? He's (in)famous from his take-down on MST3K for some Battlestar Galactica knock-off, if I'm remembering correctly! One of the funniest eps they have! Unless I'm wrong, of course. . . (I'm only 30 seconds into the vid at this posting. . .) (edit): After reading the comments, the movie I'm referring to is "Space Mutiny". It's review on MST3K is awesome!!! Can't believe it's not getting more mentions here!
I'm also a bit surprised the crew has never seen a Reb Brown movie. He played Captain America in a couple TV movies, he was in Howling 2: Your Sister Is A Werewolf, and as I mentioned above Yor, the Hunter From The Future.
@@JasonBrant The only one you really *should* watch is The Final Sacrifice. Main characters are Zap Rowsdower (basically a Canadian Wings Hauser) and some dorky kid who through a series of remarkably stupid events, team up to stop a bunch of cultists. That's all I can say without ruining it, please do yourselves this service to your (in)sanity!
Took me exactly 7 minutes to clean the water off my keyboard after my spit take at the N@MBL@ gag, lol. You've got another SBiG staple on your hands in Reb Brown. The '79 Captain America and '83 Yor: Hunter from the Future he starred in are right up your alley, among others from his catalog.
Excellent. You literally made my day. I love this movie and you won’t be disappointed with Part 2 even though Reb Brown isn’t in it. It RipsOff Indiana Jones, Predator, Romancing the Stone, Lethal Weapon and Rambo again 😂
In this one the fisticuffs with big baldy reminded me of Indiana Jones tarmac fight and mowing down guys in office was like Terminator in police station
Oh Jason, Errin. I will love you forever for covering this film. It was a school age favourite of mine and friends. The exploding of the main badguy (frame advance shows a dummy with a mop on its head (or poor wig) 2 frames before explosion. The Russian thug with teeth made of iron that survive a grenade blast...even the cover art with multi barrelled M16 with wing tipped shell casings! Bless you both for making my month!
Reb Brown. Hell of a nice guy. And was in one of the coolest Miami Vice episodes “ Viking Bikers from Hell.” It also featured Sonny Landham and John Matuszak.
Reb Brown was the star of one of the best MST3K riffs of all time, Space Mutiny. Even ripped footage straight from the original Battlestar Galactica. THICK MCRUNFAST!
This was a awesome hilarious reaction, Reb Brown played Captain America in two tv movies & did a action films with Lou (Hulk) Ferringo called The Cage 1 & 2.
Other Reb Brown classics include Space Mutiny and Yor: Hunter from the Future. I’d recommend both, as well as a movie literally titled Ssssssss that he doesn’t star in but is weird enough on its own to be worth a watch. That one also stars Face from the A-Team.
Reb Brown is most famous for playing Captain America. He did 2 of them and you should totally watch them. I will say the second movie is more watchable than the first.
Great episode guys! Since Bruno Mattei was from my home city(Rome) i feel like i need to defend his work a little bit. So he wrote this with Claudio Fragasso(another giant of genre movies), directed and edited it too. His main thing were horrors and sci-fi though, so i can see why this is not his most inspired work..He is the man responsible for the notorious "Cruel jaws" which is a montage of previous Jaws movies with some scenes added to make it "coherent". He is the man behind "Rats: night of terror" which is a decent and kind of famous sci-fi horror, a LOT of Emmanuelle movies, some Zombie movies(hell of the living dead, Zombi 3,etc), but he also edited the 1970 Dracula starring C. Lee and K.Kinski and directed with Fragasso "The other Hell" which is arguably a classic of horror. He just loved movies and worked on them until the day he died. So an interesting guy with some goofy credits and some genuine stuff too
In Spain that "jaws" movie was called "Jaws 3" because at the time we didn't care that much about copyright... and the world didn't care much about us either.
"Hell of the Living Dead " has to be my favorite Dawn of the Dead/Zombi ripoff. Bruno Mattei, Claudio Fragasso, and Umberto Lenzi have to be the Mount Rushmore of Italian rip-off schlock films.
So glad you all are finally getting into some Reb movies... that guy's career is a gold mine of DTV knock-off schlock that is 1000% in your wheelhouse.!
You probably remember Reb Brown from The Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewoof. You can also find him in Space Mutiny, Your: Hunter from the Future, Robowar, and Captain America (1979). His scream is fairly iconic too.
Awesome review, as always. For the record, as insane as it sounds, some M60 machine guns did actually have a mount for a grenade launcher. The lack of squibs used in this movie is unforgivable in my opinion, given he's walking around with an M60 and unloading dozens of rounds into people. Those guys in the office at the end should have looked like the guy that ED-209 shot to shit in Robocop. 🤣
Did anyone else who watched this entire piece of cinematic magnificence get the idea they were watching Weird Al Yankovic's parody of Rambo from the movie UHF stretched into an hour and 20 mins?
I've been watching you guys for awhile and laugh a lot thru them but this one I laughed sooo much I had to keep rewinding. You guys are the best . Always make my day watching.
That was the greatest Spaghetti Action Film that I never knew existed, until now. They put so much effort into something that was so nonsensical, and I love it.
Reb Brown played Captain America in 2 tv movies. The ones with the see thru shield that doubled as the windscreen on his motorcycle. He was also in Yor The Hunter From The Future.
Hey Jason and Erin my wife was friends with Reb Brown when he was a bouncer at night club in Pasadena CA back in the early 70s . Reb was also the first TV Captain America .
