Never saw the Trees but had the pleasure of seeing Mark twice with Mr Dulli. Once with The Twilight Singers and once with The Guttertwins. Mark is maybe the most underrated singer songwriter of the 90s.
When Lanegan sings "I think I'm gonna die" you can believe it. He looks very ill. Brilliant performance by the band though. One of my favourite riffs ever.
It is an Epiphone - a 1958 Epiphone Wilshire Batwing model (made in the Gibson factory at the time)... I should know, I bought it off of Gary about 5 years ago =O)
Woo witness the power of ginger hair. Lanegan and Homme have been playing great music for years. Homme played at the Trees live shows and Lanegan has sung on QOTSA's 'Rated R' and 'Songs for the...'.
Mark is GOD ,Screaming trees is 10000000 times better than Nirvana but few people understand it . FUCK EPIC record, MTV and nu-metal!, This world is not the same without Screaming trees
Why compare them or say they are better than some other band? Why do this? Art and music should be about how the band makes you feel, the joy you get from listening to them. In no part of this band's craft does it suppose you should disparage any other band. At the end of the day the lead singer of BOTH the bands (both were brilliant talents) you mention were junkies. Should we be proud?
It's taken everything Everything I've got and it's hung me on a line Water rising up over me And I think I'm going to die, think I'm going to die I told a lie, that's what I said I told them one you know I'll always keep Whose God is mine Whose God is mine Whose God is mine Whose God is the one with the witness Shine your lonely light on me I'll be there to hold the mirror I could take you down with me Show you lonely, lonely, lonely Death wastes no time it seems And its hung me on a line, hung me on a line Heartbreak falling all over me And I think I'm going to die, think I'm going to die I told a lie, that's what I said I told them one you know I'll always keep Whose God is mine Whose God is mine Whose God is mine Whose God is the one with the witness Shine your lonely light on me I'll be there to hold the mirror I could take you down with me Show you lonely, lonely, lonely I told a lie, that's what I said I told the one you know I'll always keep Whose God is mine Whose God is mine Whose God is mine Whose God is the one with the witness Shine your lonely light on me I'll be there to hold the mirror I could take you down with me Show you lonely, lonely, lonely Shine your lonely light on me I'll be there to hold the mirror I could take you down with me Show you lonely, lonely, lonely Lonely, lonely, lonely
Aye, I wasn't expecting Lanegan to come on stage when my mate and I went to see them on the SftD tour, but there he was. Only a couple more bands for me to see before I can die contented. And Waits is coming up in a few weeks!
The band became more popular than Lanegan gave them credit for. The fact that they were playing Rockpalast as a headliner means that they had a pretty good following. Especially in Europe.
This was when his health was at the lowest point,I think this is around when his heroin addiction was compounded by a growing crack addiction. If im not mistaken this was the tour where Mark was arrested for trying to buy crack from an undercover cop which led to his court mandated 8 months in rehab after which he recorded the excellent "Scraps at Midnight" completely clean and sober. Ive read interviews where he said it was the most fun he's ever had making a record.
@Jason1805 whats wrong with it. we have the mars volta, arcade fire, broken social scene, godspeed you black emperor . and i imagine there are a few more good bands out there somewhere lol but yes you are right the 90's were the best era of music
Thank you for the video! I really enjoyed it! I am a big fun of Screaming Trees and I really miss them! By the way, Gary Lee's guitar, what marque is it? Gibson, I suppose, but what model?
who's god is mine? the one with the witness. L-A-N-E-G-A-N!!! check out him with Dulli and the twilight singers doing Massive Attack's Live with Me. Woa....
Alright mate...It's a VINTAGE 1958 Epiphone Wilshire, one of the last Epiphone's to come out of the Gibson factory, as they were then. I bought it off Gary around 2002/03, and I paid something like $450 which was around £250... It plays BEAUTIFULLY! * I just noticed, at the bottom of the comments, I mentioned to someone else about the guitar - 10years ago! LoL!
