Thank you for a very easy to understand video! Just got my new DeWalt Scroll Saw and set it up on my DeWalt Scroll Saw stand. I have a ton of 2x4's, wasn't sure what to do with them, but now I do! Thanks for mentioning Steve Good, I will check out his channel and get some ideas there too. Merry Christmas!

Great video Steve Good is really the Scrollsaw Man I have same DeWalt Scrollsaw It cut 2x4 just fine but I have the same trouble you have the never seem to want to slide apart it drove me nuts a couple months ago I finally bought the saw I wanted for years the Hegner PolyMax and when I cut 2x4s now they slide right apart either way front to back or back to front I couldn’t believe how square the cut was could never get the dewalt to do that I’ve been scrolling for almost 40 years

Thanks for watching Jerry! Thanks for the tip on the Hegner, I’ve seen them but never used one. Stay healthy!

Tom Horsman the second saw I got was a small Hegner used it for 30 plus year needed a bigger saw I’d read a lot of reviews an the DeWalt seemed to be what I wanted but when I went to cutting inch to inch an a half it was the biggest letdown of any Scrollsaw I’d ever used I’ve cut on a lot over the years it is great for fret work an thin stuff that’s just not what I do

Nice job Tom, now I'm interested in seeing how you cut the centers of the letters out.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ 4 года назад
Thanks for Watching! Cutting out the centers is easy, first you drill a hole in the cutout, then you take off the blade from the top holder and feed it thru the hole, re tension and cut, super simple to do!
@4seasonsbbq

Great video I have learned a lot from Steve Good he really great I I have the DeWalt the same as yours I have never been able to cut 2x4 stock an be able to slide it out in both detections I noticed you were have trouble also it will slide one or the other but I have an old Hegner PloyMax 3 an I can cut 2x4 an it is true 90° it slides both ways I like the DeWalt but not for thick stock

Would like to know what is the caracter of your letters and the size you use. The block you have underneath the letters, it’s you that add them?

Hello Tom, some good tips on here, thanks for showing the sewing machine light, it looks really good, I have just bought a good used scroll saw but it does'nt have a light so one of those would be great, also do you know what that font is called (eg the lettering for Baker and Mouse ) that you are using in this video, Thanks.

Just got my Dewalt saw, what speed do you recommend for different thicknesses and wood types
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ 3 года назад
Thanks for Watching Wendy! That’s a question with no great answer, allot time the blade manufacturer will recommend the speed for the blade and thickness. For me I go with what works for what I’m cutting, I kinda play around with based on thickness and variety of the wood until I comfortable. Hope this helps...

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, I've watched countless videos on RU-vid, asked a bunch of questions but I still don't know what I'm doing wrong. Whenever I cut even very thin wood my hands hurt after about a minute due to how hard I have to hold the wood so it's not jumping. I know it's not right and watching how loose your grip is makes me frustrated that it should be easy but it's so difficult for me. It's turned me away from using my saw almost completely but I dont want to just give up altogether. Is it my blades, my saw, myself? I don't get it.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ 2 года назад
Thanks for Watching! Have you tried different blades? For thin wood I turn the speed way down
@aral2dmax

What kind of blade are you using , I’ve tried scrolling a 2x4 and it doesn’t cut . I tried moving it around like you on the video but the darn blade isn’t cutting and it’s a new blade.

@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ 3 года назад
Thanks for Watching Wendy! Blade size and type of wood and how tight the radius you are cutting will control that. Also with the blade tensioned check the squareness of the blade to the table. It helps to have it as square as possible. Hope this helps...
