Very interesting! Like you guys said, I've never heard of freshwater jellyfish either...very cool find, and in what seems like an odd place.

Yeah are minds were blown when we started seeing them in the quarry. I asked the quarry supervisor if someone had put them in there. He told us that they come in through fish and other animals that make their way to the quarry. I don't know if that is true or not though. He also said he always sees them at the end of summer in September. Really cool experience man. If you get time you should go and see them. In the late evening you can see them at the surface of the water.

I live in north central Iowa. Back in 2000, a town near mine discovered tiny fresh water jelly fish in a settling pond along side that towns cement plant. Woah Shawn that’s really cool and interesting that they are up in that region also! Makes me wonder if these type of jellyfish travel through transport of soil/cement. This was a quarry we were swimming at. Who knows though... Such a fascinating world we live in. I had no idea there were such thing as fresh water jellyfish before this last year. You bet and oddly enough, freshwater jellyfish have been discovered in all but 3 US states, Wyoming and Idaho I think, can't recall the other. Very cool indeed though..
