I wanted to make this project for the end of summer, but it took me more than 45 days to complete it. Different arts are involved here, sculpting with Apoxie, casting resin to make eyes and of course electroforming. It was challenging, but I finally manage to come to an end.
Did everything go right? No! It came out gorgeous? In my opinion, yes!
This is my octopus on a bottle. Please enjoy it.
If something seems missing, or it's not very clear to you, there will be more explanations in my blogs.

CuForming is a project of passion born from our love for both science and crafting.
Since 2018, we've been exploring the fascinating world of electroforming, where we merge the wonders of electrochemistry with geology, botany, zoology and the artistry of crafting.
Copper, with its versatility and beauty, is our favorite material to work with, and our designs are inspired by the intricate textures found in nature.
Through experimentation with chemicals, various materials, and the electroforming process, we create unique pieces that celebrate the intersection of science and art.
With inherited skills in electrical engineering, painting, sculpting and materials assembly, and the curiosity about new technologies such as 3D printing, CuForming is where science meets creativity.

Thanks for the interesting video. I look forward to more. Somehow I missed the part where you took of the wires. I wanted to see hoe to remove them and, effect and whether they left any marks.

Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry but I didn't film that part. When you wrap a piece like that it's a good behavior to check it every once in a while during the electroforming process and by checking I mean moving it around and even detach the wire from the piece itself while it is in the bath. If you do so, in the moment you are going to remove it, nothing bad will happen. Problems that you could encounter are: the wire becoming part of the piece and then you won't be able to remove it unless you file it; the piece could have a bump right where the wire was; and worst case scenario, part of copper from the pieces could get detached and come off with the wire if you pull it.

@@cuforming Would it be possible to attach the target piece in some other way? What would be the objectives/challenges if one were to explore such alternatives?

Insanely skilled my friend. I love your work! And your videos are amazing. Great music!. Also wouldnt something like "goo gone" remove the lettering from the bottle?
@cuforming
@cuforming Год назад
Thank you! I'm always happy to read your comments. I don't know GOO GONE but I know that there are few different kinds of it... As long as it is acid based, I think it's gonna work. Just vinegar is fine, it needs time though. I've added sulfuric acid to accelerate the process, and because it's something I have in my lab.

@@cuforming Goo gone is readily available here in the USA, I get it at the dollar store. It is a citric acid, that removes all sorts of sticky residue very easily. Wax, tar, gum, anything sticky and adhesive. :D I have been busy making alot of rings mainly. I recently made about 30 rings. And I am testing a few different processes and methods of stone attachment, to see what gives cooler results. And see/test other components. I have been doing some stuff with electroformed twine/hemp string to make ring bands.
@cuforming
@cuforming Год назад
How do you make the string to become solid? This seem really interesting.

@@cuforming when it was around the mandrel at the size I wanted. I applied liquid super glu to it, little by little. Until it started to hold a shape. Once it was kinda hard-ish, I REALLY doused it with glue off the mandrel.

Can we use a terra cota support ?
@cuforming
@cuforming 23 дня назад
You mean, instead of the glass bottle? Or you mean using clay to sculpt the object? Either way, you need to deal with the porosity of the terracotta, since you need to paint it with conductive paint and also to dip it in the electroforming solution. It will absorb the liquid, and you will encounter a few issues... the copper coat could not stick to the material, it's an example. You could seal it with some varnishing or sealer, but I'm not sure about keeping the beauty of the terracotta intact. You need to experiment with that.
@cuforming
@cuforming 23 дня назад
Unless it's like ceramic, and it as the glass coat on it. I don't know what you exactly mean with "terra cota"... for me terracotta and argilla (clay) are the same thing in italian language.
