After scouting several locations during the livestream, I've settled on a cozy little place to the North with a small pond next to a small rural town. Now that we have our spot picked out, it's time to get to work! First thing on the to-do list: putting in a garden so we can get food growing.
I hope you enjoy the video. I apologize for it being a bit longer than usual. If you have any suggestions for the base, let me know! Right now, we're going for minimalist. Basically just a place to get out of the weather, provide storage, and have a nice comfy place to sleep so we don't have to sleep on the ground or in the car.
Thank you to everyone who came to the livestream. It was great getting to chat with you all. As per request, I am in the process of setting up a discord server for the channel so we can talk more conveniently than using the comments section. I will post the link when I get it properly set up. Anyway, thank you for supporting the channel! I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

I really like your new base location. I may have to build a cabin there in my SP game. It's very peaceful. I'm digging the new slower paced series.

I'm glad you're liking the slower pace. That's my normal pace, but since I started the channel, I've been trying to keep the videos a little more interesting. But it seems a lot of people are preferring the slower pace, which works for me! And I really like this base location. It just seemed the most peaceful and relaxing to me after looking at the other options I'd picked out. I'm really looking forward to getting to work on the base. I want this season to be slower paced and more like how I would play if I wasn't recording, so things are going to be slower and there's going to be more of just the day-to-day stuff like building, fishing, cooking, crafting, and probably a decent amount of just sitting around a fire relaxing at night/during storms.

You might need to make a trip to the junkyard with a couple empty backpacks for scrap when you go get the rager. Or take a trip to the airbase west of you. Lots of junk cars there

Agreed. My plan was to get the garden planted and a small cabin built for storage/bed for now, then head out for the Rager/Supply run. Also, can I use scrap to make nails? I thought I remembered being able to do that. That would be handy and would probably let me finish the garden.

@@FlailyMcFlailerson I think you can use scrap for that. You will need a fair amount of scrap for metal chests and upgrading your base.

flaily remember you can take scrap metal go to a work bench and you can craft nails and bolts in the crafting menu

Yeah I remembered that after finishing the video. That's probably the first thing I'll do next time. I could do it off camera (like I'll do with organizing the inventory soon), but that's something new that I haven't done, and several people have asked to see more crafting/base building/farming/etc., so I'll probably leave it in for those who enjoy that.

This is the most complicated survival game i have ever seen. The health system is complicated for sure. Never saw this so detailed what to watch for.

I really like it. Most of the vitamins and minerals are easy to manage, but there's a few that force you to try to actually balance your diet. That's something lacking in a lot of survival games where you can survive on eating the same singlular food item all the time. I find it interesting that they even included having to go to to the bathroom. You don't see that in ANY other survival game (that I'm aware of). I really love the depth of realism the developers are going for with the survival aspects of this game.

I've crapped out Desert Eagles, soda cans, shoes, ammo, all sorts of stuff! Not sure why that's a thing, but it's amusing nonetheless. Also occasionally helpful!

You have to use 3rd person for driving really. Anyway the night raid on the drop was great.

Admittedly I liked driving in 1st person, but it's not practical for most scenarios. And I had fun with the night raid. I'm liking having nighttime this season, even if it's still short (midnight-2am currently). It definitely adds a new element to the gameplay. I never had nighttime before because multiple people said they didn't really see the point in nighttime, and to a large degree I agree, but I wanted to try it this time to give a better sense of time and make it feel a bit more immersive. I really wish that Single Player had a "sleep" option so you could pass time faster. Right now, at night, I usually try to hunker down somewhere to rest, repair gear, eat, etc. Then pretend to sleep until the sun comes up (which takes a while sometimes and doesn't work well for videos, unfortunately).

I prefer first person driving because I don't have to move the mouse around to stay behind the vehicle.

You can hit "Alt" in 3rd person driving and it locks the camera behind the vehicle. You can do the same in 1st person driving but it just makes it to where you can't turn your head to look around, so not particularly useful in 1st person.

You definitely should! It has both single player and multiplayer modes, so you can have fun on your own without getting killed by other players, or you can go hardcore PVP if that's your style. In single player (and multiplayer if you have your own server), the developers give you A LOT of control over the world settings. Amount of loot, metabolism speed, number/health/damage of puppets (the zombies in this game), weather, types of enemies, frequency of vehicle spawns, how much fuel the vehicles use, etc. You can basically tailor the game settings to your own playstyle and make it your own personal survival game. I would highly recommend it!

It kills me the way you keep your inventory nearly full for so long. As soon as i get finished with a run i empty out everything i don't need so I'm ready to get out again or build. I'm also very meticulous on inventory management. A place for everything. But that's just my hangup lol

You're not wrong there. I need to do better about inventory management and not hoarding so much stuff in my inventory. I always run into issues with not having room for more stuff and then make a run back to the vehicle to dump things, but since I'm just dumping them as quick as possible, nothing gets organized. I intend to do better about that once we get a home built so I can have things organized much better. Part of it is because I'm recording, so I'm trying to just do things in a timely manner, but in the long run, I fully intend to be more organized this season.

I do like it, I just wish you could get (or craft) extended mags for it. But thus far, is does seem to be packing a bit more punch than the 9mm. Seems like it's been dropping puppets with a single round most of the time, or maybe 2 rounds depending on shot placement/puppet size, compared to 2-3 for the 9mm. I'll likely keep running it for a while since we have several mags and a good bit of ammo (and a suppressor!!!) for it.

I'd really like to see them add more guns. I know they're talking about adding an SKS, which I would love, but you mentioned wanting something like the Para Ordinance double stack 1911. That would be really nice! Something I'd love to see (but I'm certain they won't add) is a .22LR bolt conversion kit for the M16/Mk18, so you could swap between 5.56 and .22LR in the same rifle (since 5.56mm and .22LR are both technically .224 caliber if I remember right, just vast difference in case size/powder load/projectile weight). Use .22 for small game or just because that's the ammo you can find (and it SHOULD BE quieter), and run 5.56 for combat/assault/PVP. That would be a much more survival focused idea, as most people ignore the .22 weapons entirely, but I'd still love to see it. Also, a semi-auto shotgun! And maybe an M14/M1A (I would LOVE that).

Hell yeah! But that assault shotgun needs to be rare, just because of how OP it would be. Maybe have it be something you can only find in Abandoned Bunkers (I'd go in there for one of those!) and at the trader (very expensive, but totally worth it). Damn I want one now though...

That's unfortunate. I'd like to see them add throttle control for the cars like you have with the planes. It kinda sucks going either full throttle or no throttle. I want to be able to cruise with a steady throttle, especially on longer drives. Or at least have control of the gearbox. In DayZ, I could cruise in 2nd or 3rd gear so I wasn't going too fast around corners, but could still cover some distance in a reasonable amount of time. Granted the cars are bugged to Hell in DayZ so you don't dare go very fast or risk getting launched into the air or glitched into a tree, but still. DayZ's manual transmission controls were nice. But also, since I'm using a controller, it would be really nice to have fine throttle control like you get with console games. Driving cars is one area where consoles definitively have an edge over PC, in my opinion.
