This ended up being really long because of how restrictive the terrain was. Otherwise, it was pretty easy outside of the annoyance of dealing with the little tanks and planes with A rank terrain scores. The Challenge Mission was to have Shiro take out 4 of the Tochika(?) turrets after we take out Norris, which was trivial.
Clearing this unlocks 耐衝撃性強化回路II (Shock Resistance Circuit II?) which ups maximum HP by 15%. I finally get to leave the Leo (OZ) for a Tallgeese and my Z (Basic) for a real Z. The 00 also evolves into a 00 Raiser, though this actually does come with a few downsides. I lose the Beam Daggers which gave my melee characters a range 2-3 attack. The Trans-AM attack now requires us to actually engage the Trans-AM function. This puts us into Trans-AM mode which boosts the unit's stats and attacks for 3 turns. After that, it will leave Trans-AM mode and will not be able to reengage it for 1 turn, plus you'll suffer stat penalties for that turn as well.
In the process, I actually unlock ZZ in the schematics. I decided to buy it then so I wouldn't need to go through the hoops of evolving a Z into a ZZ, but this may have been a wrong move to make if I'm limiting my grinding as that's another 57,500 spent. For now, I'll proceed as I originally planned and take it all the way into a Deep Striker, and then I'll go back to leveling up and evolving the Z into an Full Armour ZZ if I want to later.
Looking at the list of other evolves:
- Tallgeese needs L3 for Wing
- Turn A needs L5 for Turn A (Full Release
- Strike needs L3 for Strike Rouge
- Phoenix Gundam needs L7 for Full Power, after which I'll consider benching it to level up the Z into a ZZ and then a Full Armour ZZ instead
- Death Bat needs L9 for Devil Gundam. This is arguably super low priority as the Devil Gundam is likely going to be benched until I have money to buy parts to boost its movement as it has an abysmal 4 move and B on Land and Space. We won't be getting a Mega Booster for a long while unless I grind like crazy, so I can only get a +2 tops (+1 from a regular Booster, then +1 for either a Boost Thruster or a Hover Booster for a rank up on Space or Land)
- ZZ needs L4 for Full Armour ZZ
- Crossbone X1 needs L3 for X1 Kai
I also dropped the 統率力 (Leadership) skill on my Leader-type pilots since it's useless to me (increased Group Area as a Ship Captain) and bought them 統制 (Control) instead which gives them +3 to Master/Leader area when they're a Master/Leader. Part of me feels like gifting them +100 Ace Points via grind just to make up for the BS wasted 統率力 ability, but I'll hold off for now.
