I was testing new pins at my dealer’s warehouse, and I went in knowing I was leaving w a Foo Premium or DP Premium (theme plays no part). I flipped ALL the newer Sterns & a couple JJP’s. Then I played a *JP Premium* w shaker installed … 👀 🤷♂️ So I’ve had my new JP Premium for not even a full week (😅) & lemme tell ya: if there’s a better-shooting/-flowing, more outrageously re-playable pin, I ain’t seen nor heard of it. I canceled a long-scheduled doc appointment just to KEEP PLAYIN day 2! 🥳🤩 🤘🤘 My #1 pin of ALL - TIME! Straight up (& down the middle 🥸)!
I think there's an invisible toy on this game. The toys on a table are the primary way these designers spark your imagination and pull you into that whole "world under glass." Well, how many pinball tables have an AI element? JP pulls me onto the playfield and asks me to imagine the dinosaur I'm trying to capture. What is its behavior? Where is it going next? When I start a new paddock, I have to look where each staff member is randomly placed, where the dinosaur is located, and who is going to get hit first. That dinosaur and those staff members suddenly exist on the playfield without being physically present, and add so much more than just "shoot the flashing lights" just because. That, plus the truck and map, really pull you mentally onto the playfield to experience a story.
“Give me 5 min”🤣🤣🤣 Great review. I loved this game when we played it at Pinburgh. We went back to it over and over. I wish the game told you to shoot those set trap targets in a better way. It wasn’t till my 15th game at the show that I finally learned to shoot them. I LOVE the shots and combos. Hitting that 4 way is so satisfying and it sets you up to repeat it! Time will tell of it hold its place for me but right now I have it just behind Maiden which is my current favorite game I still can’t get enough of.
I've been so looking forward to this one. Loved the review guys...though I still wish Zach could give his two cents. I agree with you on the shots and layout. Take everything else away and you'd still have an amazing pin. It's so fun to shoot that it makes up for all the shortcomings. I'd love for this to be my first NIB which is huge. It's that good.
My buddy is dropping one of these off at my house for about 3 months on Wednesday, cant wait to get it here and really dive into the code and have a blast.. excited to have it here at home ive only been able to play it on location so I havent gotten a chance to really learn the code.. had to come back and rewatch this episode to see what my boys have to say about it again!
Hey, Scott, I just bought a spankin-new Jurassic Park Premium, but I’m confused about the 30th Anny _code_ update: It’s the same code for the Premium/LE, right? Or, is there something specific only TO that version? 🤔 ✌️
@@Mo_Ketchups, great question. The code is the same. There were updates to the code when 30th was released but the same improvements and features were rolled to all trims. Congratulations on your Premium. Hope you got it from TNT Amusements.
@@ScottParisi Thanks for that answer/info, bud! 👍🤝 Oh, I’m a SUBBER to TNT! I LOVE that crazy guy’s walkthroughs! He reminds me of Maury from _GoodFellas!_ Dude’s a character! 😅 I’m on the other side of the country though. I’d love to see his warehouse. 😮💨
@@Mo_Ketchups, my pleasure. Dependent on how frequently you watch, you may have seen me before. I'm on the Friday night live streams and Best Offer sales. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop another comment.
Great Review Guys! I agree with Zach reviewing this too, it would be good to hear his thoughts! Any issues with the Playfield and the Clearcoat? This pinball looks amazing!
@@stevengraser7984 I have never played the Pro so I can only speak on the Premium. The T-rex works great. It's very impressive when it's rawr-ing, thrashing about, and chomping at the ball. I have no regrets.
Greg/Zach I respect your opinions greatly I’m new to purchasing a stern table I can afford a pro model I have a pre order in on a Star Wars pro due in dec I have been back and fourth on weather I should let that ride or switch my order to Jurassic park pro due in nov I just wonder for new buyer which would be more fun thx in advance your content is the best loved the pizza eating vs set up vid so funny
Great review. Now I don't know what to do! Pin-Master Zach (if you're out there), for my first new machine I'm debating between the Premium Jurassic Park or The Hobbit. Do you think the Jurassic LED interaction and story kept up with the Hobbit? Jurassic just looks like a faster more fun shooter (and world under glass). The Hobbit looks...Epic. Whatever I get, it will be paired with a used Iron Man or Lord of the Rings.
I might have a bought a faulty machine (new JP premium). Sometimes someone just gets a shitload of point for no apparent reason. A friend of mine managed to get 1 Billion points within like a minute. My highscore stands at over 3 Billion without having any substantial progress in the story line. Yesterday someone created a new account on stern IC and they got the gold tower award (50 tower shots lifetime) within the first game. And I also notice that red skill shots sometimes unlit for no reason at all. I suspect that a loose contact is triggering the machine to think the raptor tower is hit. Any other ideas? Edit: Now I know for sure. The optical sensor wasn't installed straight. However, when I reinstalled it, it seemed to work okay from the diagnostic menu. But sadly the game still registers tower shots when none are made.
Did Greg eventually upgrade to the premium? I’m on the fence about premium/pro. I’ve played the pro and it’s a lot of fun for the money. Can’t decide if the moving dinosaur is worth the extra money or not LOL
Overall I think this pinball machine looks really cool. My biggest hangup is the large truck that isn't a jeep (or explorer for that matter) from the movie. Was this a licensing issue? Is there a mod to change the vehicle?
Does SDTM still do a podcast? The last episode I have is from Nov 21, 2018. I've changed my podcast player so I thought they may not have theirs on this player.
I love the game, art work and everything aside.. I cannot hit either of those 180 ramps for the fucking life of me. But, the soft plunge secret skill shot to the Amber is a ton of fun. It'll feed directly to the left flipper, trap it and hit that shot. I've hit the other two ramps back to back for the super skill short, but again.. that fucking left 180 is shit for me.
Did they ever revise or review the premium? I’d have to think it would have been a better overall review when you add the premium features / moving dino in.
What does "code" mean? I've never owned a pinball machine but thinking about this one to dive into this hobby. Does the code have automatic updates or would I have to manually enter it? Thx.
I need help guys, I have a godzilla PREM... LOVE it. Trading in my guns and roses for a second pin in our little restaurant and I'm between JP premium and JAWS Premium. Thoughts?
Great episode guys, really enjoyed this one. Well done Zach, keeping it neutral👍🏻 Greg being cost/pro/premium/money thoughtful, saying the swinging dinohead is a game changer, feels like he feels like that because of the theme. If this pin wasn’t his dream theme, he would probably say, a swinging head and extra standup target at raptor is not worth the money. Pro is pretty packed. BUT still great review guys, love your show
I’d say you are right! But honestly I’m going to the premium for the art package!!! I know that sounds even worse ha ha but if this thing is a keeper I want to enjoy looking at it! But I do agree very much the pro is great! (Greg)
Straight Down The Middle: a pinball show Greg, I’m such a fan of your show, watched since first episode, was pretty predictable BUT yes you also mentioned the artwork being better on premium, im right with you buddy. You being such a JP fan, I truly wish you got donated a LE version from Stern. Your review and love for the pin, will surely boost there sale. Greetings from Denmark, Retrocengo 😁👍🏻
Naw you can still rescue your people. As long as you are good or like to learn code you can do it. Very few times other than CHAOS will you get stuck on a hard shot. But it can be a tough pin.
@@SDTM My bad, I meant to say stand up target. You said there are 3 stand up targets - two in the front and one in the back. There are 3 in the front and one in the back.
Great review, BTW. The art doesn't bother me as much as you but on every other topic, your review exactly matches how I feel about the game. Hopefully upcoming releases will improve the few areas that still need some polish, but I'm still loving my LE in the meantime.
@@SDTM That's why I mentioned it - it's a sneaky little sucker and I knew you'd want to know everything about this pin. I don't know if it's the same on the pro, but on the LE there are LEDs in the plastic above each of the 3 stand-up targets, which either blink or stay solid to let you know which ones you have hit.
I owned JP LE for a while. Loved it. But when its used prices shot thru the roof in late 2021, I traded it for mando LE and JP pro (plus a little cash from my side). The JP pro plays better than the LE. Why? T-rex grabbing the ball worked maybe 40% of the time on my LE and when it did actually grab the ball, the game basically stops until t-rex flails around and finally throws the ball onto the PF creating yet another permanent dimple in the soft stern playfield. With the pro version, trex doesn't stop or slow down the game ever. It doesn't create new playfield dimples either. The raptor pen gate goes up and down on the LE but not on the pro. Is that a plus or minus? Play the game and tell me. Pro vs LE... Same, lighting, callous... everything... different art... yes, but the pro costs $6-$7k less?! Sign me up. Escape from nublar is maddening! I've completed it one time... which makes me keep coming back to try doing it again. Probably 200 games since completing it and I still haven't been able to do it a 2nd time.
Are we all going to just ignore the fact that the artwork was done by a guy named Johnny Crap?! That can't be his real name is it? It sounds like the name a 10 year old gives to his turtle.
