The only thing thst bothers me is thst we are going to loose existing islands because of the skeleton posts, and suposing that we are never getting more map expansions, that is a little sad.
I remember hearing someone suggesting a larger ship type as a controllable world event like this, they must feel pretty cool having predicted it I imagine
I just thought of something. How exactly do you defeat a ship without sinking it? Maybe flameheart IS on the burning blade and he’s like “you fight well, I have other things to attend to use this ship” probably not but who knows.
Well he said flat out that 'sinking' it temporarily puts the ship in a state where it can be commandeered should you board the ship, go inside, and pledge yourself to Flameheart.
The way I see it, "sinking" it actually just stuns the vessel and makes it unable to take any actions. During which time you can climb aboard and commandeer it.
Most likely the ship either comes with a healthbar type deal where it takes shots till it finally is put down or it reaches 2nd deck and sinks like normal but instead of floating down it just hangs in the water or smth
Rare absolutely smashed it out of the park with the preview event, genuinely was in absolute awe throughout. Can't wait for Season 13 especially though, new environments are always SO exciting to see. Diamond age here we come 🏴☠️💎
@@ArmUkraine Yeah im sure it will work out just fine, just like the last 4 years of ''improvement to hit reg'' in every patch note (Hint, there was ZERO improvement) Even with the two big patches of GDK.
Being able to command the burning blade in a man o war form is probably one of the most exciting things this game could offer! This year already looks promising and we haven't seen everything yet according to the devs!
I can see why they decided to do more than just a tease or vague hint towards the future this time. A lot of people have been turned off by all the foundational changes, and lack of sandbox updates. Rare NEEDED to establish trust with many of these folks again. And this preview event was the perfect way to do it. There's no longer a question of if future seasons will be significant. We know exactly what's coming, and it's all they promised and more. What has me most excited about this, is Rare's clear willingness to break the mold. Before they were reluctant to introduce things like new weapons or something like a massive ship, for fear of upsetting the balance. Now they're doing it BECAUSE it'll shake up the balance and keep the game from getting stale. That willingness to try something crazy sets an amazing precedence for the quality of updates moving forward. I genuinely had thought that the days of true game changing updates like this were something we'd only see year 1, when they were scrambling to get the game into a truly finished state. Now I can't wait for all of these amazing changes, and I'm beyond excited for the future of this game.
Shame that the burning blade ship just has galleon sails, looks a bit off. Even the black pearl from tall tale has unique sails. Maybe they're just placeholders for now...
when i watched the trailer yesterday was so incredibly happy, made my year just hearing that. been loving this game for years and just some days cant find myself playing it because i have everything. real content like this will bring me back its great to see this revolutionary change in the sandbox.
I still really really want them to add a 5 man crew or 6 I want more of my friends to join. gives us man of wars besides the event like make the man a war the 4th ship we can use but require 6 people
3:00 they will have a great function like you pointed out earlier. You can’t carry loot while sword lunging but you can with zip lines
Changes look good as long as they properly check for exploits/bugs. I can see there being big bugs or unintended broken features with the double pistol (too much damage), and potential big exploits with the harpoon gun like flying or something lol.
The burning blade is by far the best part for me, along with the grapple gun. Allows for more boarding and ways to catch running ships. You overshot, shoot down like seen in the video. You undershot or got knocked off, use it to get back on. I like it. But actually becoming the world event is so cool. I'm sure some folk are gonna make servers really rough to play on, but conquering it and getting to actually do it yourself is so cool. Plus you could just server hop if the folk who currently control it are really aggressive. You'll feel like a true captain with a crew of skellies and a bad ass ship too. The true scourge of the seas!
Bringing Sea of Thieves to PS5 was a good decision. Rare can invest more due to the extra revenue, and hopefully, they will bring it to Nintendo Switch 2
I prefer playing Sea of Thieves on PC, but hopefully the Nintendo Switch 2 has performance comparable to the PS5 lmaoo, since I'm definitely getting one for Splatoon 4!
1:37 in the preview they called it the windcaller not the horn of fair winds. Interesting. Also funny because windcaller would be a skyrim reference. Edit: Actually a lot of the information you're giving is not what was said. Don't let Rare catch you my guy.
I haven’t play sea of thieves for so long since I reached pirates legend and did all the tall tale quests and other stuff but god damn I think I’ll have to get the old crew back together for this.
I’m thinking I’ll be using the cutlass and the knife as well. There’s a lot of versatility, plus I think it will be fun to throw it into various things as I play and then retrieve it.
Rare was worried that adding new weapons would shake up the balance too much and leave the game in a very sorry state (like league of legends that has 150+ characters that have to be balanced around the 200+ or so items.) excluding server performance cause it was always bad.
um in season 13 on the burning blade do you get reputation for the reapers bones? i hope so because i have loss farmed for servants of the flame for 8 months in order to get the skeleton curse!!! and i'm at level 100
Well i dont know i played the game 3 or 2 years ago and i liked those smal ilands and old outposts what hapened to them? Is the game is easyer harder or like before?
Dang. I was starting to work towards making my own pirate game, and I had many of these exact ideas in terms of weapons, especially for the grapeshot. Now I'm scared to make it, due to the possibility Rare decides to be a copyright troll :(
The only thing I wish is that they would add is more to do while you are killing time sailing from one location to the next, something other than fishing... Diving to the first point is nice, but if you are not steering the boat you are kind of just sitting on your thumbs and feeling the call of the void to set fire to something or get annihilated with grog.
I haven't played SoT since 2021, hopped on for the sake of good ol' times this month and was blown away how little progress the game actually made in *3 years*. Yes, captaincy update, monkey island and a few quality of life things like the sovereigns and the harpoon rework but like that's all there is to show for 3 years? And they actually remove content like Sea Dog Arena? You can create a whole new fucking game in 3 years. But seems like this is where things finally pick up again, fingers crossed as I'd love to see SoT flourish again
While I really love the new path they are taking with this game, the original reason me and my friends stoped playing was because we didn’t like having to watch our backs every moment to make sure other players were going to attack us, so while I like what I’m hearing I don’t think I’ll come back to it, but I do this everyone should play it at least once to find out for themselves
I don’t believe the throwing knives are weapons to be equipped. As I understood it, they are a new throwable. Otherwise, how would you be able to pick one up after it was thrown at you, unless you have it equipped as well.
I'm hopeful considering they said that they are expanding their team so they can have people whose only job it is to fix stuff like this. They said that usually that stuff was given to people to do in their extra time but now we'll have a team working on just that all the time.
Do you happen to know what "loyal to flameheart" means? I've got capped reaper rep but not arena rep and dont want to be left out, and need to know if I need to start grinding lol.
It’s worth noting that the Burning Blade has 10 cannons on both sides, not total! This means that there are 20 total cannons. Also, I’m a little disappointed that skeleton camps are going to occupy already existing islands. I sorta figured, but it is a shame some smaller islands will be sacrificed for them. Still better to have them though, can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs
more dynamic and complex combat with so many more facettes to think about. and then they add the burning blade and use the now completely different comabt for a completely new type of event. i want to use 120 fov but i accept that it gets put down because hacking was too much. 2023 really feels like its going to be huge for sot
Sot on ps5, FLAMEHEART SHIP WORLD EVENT, More weapons, more throwables. What more could i ask for when I'm introducting my ps5 friends to sot for the first time.
I hope they add a feature where you can kick players from your crew without need for everyone els voting because many times someone joins the crew and ruins it for everyone and theres nothing you can do from them costing you lots of progress and its you're crew
The one thing I wish for is to get the story more back on track. Like don’t just use the Burning Blade as a world Event, give us a tall tale or adventure
The double barrel pistol could have just been the base pistol. But they could have let us fire it twice similar to the way Saltspyre from vermintide does. Where we have two pistols instead of one that we fire in quick succession. So instead of a double barrel we could just have 2 pistols
I'm not exactly a fan of the Reapers as a faction myself, but actually having the Burning Blade roaming the seas as a "boss ship", and even offering players the option of commanding it themselves, is one of the most awesome ideas Rare has ever introduced!
My only worry is the grapple gun. I feel like something like that would be quite broken... I know that they said they would limit ammo to balance it but unless it only has 1 shot, I feel like it would just be too good.
Only thing missing is for they to fix hourglass horrible bugs and the constant crashes that still happen after today's patch that was explicitly for the crashes...
I must say im surprised! The only bad thing i can think of is the bomb that puts PvE on your boat during a good fight. But thr rest looks really awesome 😎
me and most of my mates quit the game after season 9. with everything new like PVE servers and more I felt like I had lost the game I loved but now looking at this I think I should give this game one last shot for old times sake.
I think the Zip line gun should work more like a swing shot, if there’s any reeling in it should be done slowly enough that 1. Cannon shot close to enemy ships will land u on the ship but if shot too far you’ll miss the mark Or 2. You cant use it to get to higher ground, only to bridge a gap at same or lower ground while still allowing players to control the direction of the swing. As for the harpoon gun, I would have preferred if it was tied to the crows nest and only allowed players to zip down to lower platforms. It gives it balance cuz enemy players on ships can destroy the zip line if they’re quick enough (since it’s close to ground lvl), requires players to climb up the ladder to the crows nest more (more crows nest utility) (and allows players to be spotted and taken out before boarding which is a good skill play). As it stand I feel these 2 tools are a bit too op.
@@mikael100100 if you want to see the world back and white then that’s on you, I’m not going to change ur perspective, but when all one needs to board a ship is to aim a gun at the ship with a gun, even at medium distances, then that’s when limitations need to be placed. Also, you must have misunderstood as they wouldn’t be the same as a sword lunge distance covered. Players would need to aim at another ships mast, but as long as it hooks to an elevated object, they should still be able to swing from it
@@reddemon6668 eyah, basically rendering it neutered into uselessness, that's the point. crows nest? that's it? that will be relegated to a funny gimmick, at best. that's what you want :/
@@mikael100100 it’s not a gimmick as it would allow one to still board ships at mid to close range, with the limitation that you wouldn’t be able to walk on it upwards, and you wouldn’t be able to shoot the zip line somewhere where it can’t be countered. If anything, it would make the crows nest more viable. What do players currently use the crows nest for? It’s better to have a crew mate handling sails, steering, repairs, or ready on cannons than being up there wasting everyone’s time. Barely will u see experienced players in the crows nest. Basically just allows u to take in the sight as spotting isn’t too hard from below either. As for the swing shot, it doesn’t allow players to be boarded so easily. As they showed it, it practically takes no skill to board. You can be in the water and in less than 2 seconds you’re on the enemy ship. Either the swing shot comes with a reel in mechanic, that slowly pulls you up the ship, giving enemy players enough time to react, or you can board ships by using the swing shot on your own mast or enemy masts to swing yourself over.
