Split across three hilarious Tall Tales packed with secrets and side-quests, Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island invites pirates to meet classic characters, in a new narrative that brings the iconic locations of Monkey Island to the Sea of Thieves.
The adventure begins on Mêlée Island, where pirates can take in the sights, smells and roguish splendour of the island as they seek to uncover why everyone suddenly seems to think quite highly of self-proclaimed mighty pirate, and known poodle pacifier, Guybrush Threepwood. Something's quite clearly wrong...
This love-letter to the classic adventure game series will be available to play alone or with a crew, with three Tall Tales being added over three months as free updates for all players, starting July 20th.

Seeing this makes me both happy and a little sad. My Dad isn't able to operate a computer anymore, but he would have loved this so much. He was a major Monkey Island fanboy. He was well into his 50's when the games orginally came out, but he'd be up at all hours of the night trying to figure out that one last puzzle before bed.

HELL YES. The Monkey Island games were such a massive part of my childhood and seeing them pay this much attention into recreating it SoT style is AMAZING. The spinning anchor in the bar, Stan’s notorious unmoving jacket texture, the circus, mansion and chicken puzzles. It’s all here! I am BEYOND excited for this. Finding the Monkey Island easter egg in the pirates life adventure was already jaw dropping for me but NOW WE GET A WHOLE ADVENTURE ABOUTIT?!

I am only 15 but i remember my dad buying Monkey Island 1 for me and my brother. Since then The Monkey island series are one of my favorite Games + Sea of thieves also being one of my favourite games. Funnily enough, when the Pirate of the Caribbean collab was initially showcased, Me and my friends were actually saying how a Proper Monkey Island collab would be PERFECT for SoT, since the art-style along with the humor would blend right in. I definitely recommend buying some of the first monkey island games (at least). Especially now with the steam summer sale you can pick them up for very cheap and they're great, plus I guarantee you'll enjoy this update more having played some of the games too!

I've been playing a sea of thieves since 2021, I love the game with all my heart, but I also see what a terrible situation it is now from the number of bugs and cheaters, lack of optimization and cluttered store with recolors. Dear Rare, you can see the statistics of players yourself, more than 50% of players have already left the game compared to a year ago. We'll wait if necessary, but please add anti-cheat to the game, hire a responsible for optimizing the game and a couple of good skin designers. On behalf of the entire community of the game - we beg you, do not let the game die. We don't need a monkey island as much as the main important options described above. Thank you for giving my comment a minute.

Monkey Island. The series that introduced me to adventure games and games in general. For me there is nothing better than this collaboration. When A Pirate's life came to us 2 years ago, I almost shed a tear as a rush of nostalgia hit me, while secretly hoping for more monkey island content. Now we get this. Rare has show once again what a company that loves its game is capable of. I tip my hat once again and thank you from the bottom of my heart. P.S I am a graduate in 3d modelling and animation. Please hire me XD

Now, I have lived on this universe for 30 solar years, and as a human, I saw wonders and horrors beyond imagining. But this just might be one of, if not THE greatest experiences that I've ever had the pleasure to live through. Never once in my wildest dreams could I possibly see such a thing to actually happen, and yet here you madlads are, carrying on the torch of one of the greatest legacies ever known to Videogame History. Mad respect and heartfelt thanks to each and one of you mateys. You DEFINITELY don't fight like a cow. I'm shaking.

First Pirates of the Caribbean (which there's a monkey island reference in that story) and now Monkey Island. There is a hidden monkey island reference in A Pirate's Life story, I wonder if we get a Pirates of the Caribbean reference in the Legend of Monkey Island story.
