My Seahawk 4 Inflatable Boat now has a Bimini Top for shade on the water! Bimini Top installations on inflatable boats can be challenging due to the lack of mounting options. In this video I show how to install a Bimini Top on an inflatable boat by first making a few modifications. I made a Bimini Top mounting system using utility handles and some simple hardware. I utilized the oar holes on the boat to mount a rail system that then provides a mounting point for the Bimini Top hardware. This design is completely modular and collapses for easy storage.

Hey if it works thumbs up!!!! We use our mounts that we created to use with scotty mounts. Is all about comfort while in the water and lately the sun is pretty wild 😅.

What I ended up doing was using 1" rigid PVC. I had to use a dremel to open up the oar holes a little. The fit is so snug i didn't end up needing the retaining pins. To mount the bimini support, I bought some aluminum truck light mounts. They grab onto the PVC using a rubber insert so no holes are needed. I mounted the bimini mount on top of these. It also gives me the option to slide the bimini forward or back by loosening the bolts on the mounts. I am going to put nylon end caps into the PVC as well to give me hook points.

How does the Honda engine compare to the trolling motor on this inflatable setup? Currently I have a 12’ inflatable that we use to get from our 40’ Chris Craft to get to shore. Looking at using some of your mods this winter to make it better. Right now have a drill powered shaft. Works ok even on Lake Michigan for 100yards to get back to the boat from shore.

Thanks for commenting and checking out the videos. I use the Honda on this boat with the transom board I made and it works fantastic that being said, the electric trolling motor would work fine to go 100 yards and is much lighter and probably easier logistically.

Does a this need to be registered if you have a electric motor on it I live in the state of Maryland and the laws are a bit confusing

Thanks for watching the video. It really depends on your state. I live in Nevada and it is required to be registered because it has a motor. I think in Utah their motto is, if it “floats it’s a boat”. I think it cost me $25 a year and it was pretty easy at the Nevada Department of wildlife. The funny thing is, I did have to take the boat there and roll it out uninflated so they could measure it. I thought that was funny.

@@MrFredsDIY Yes, but with a low cost initially, the add-ons really add up! I've done several of the things you have done but a few more differently. For rod holders I took an old ottoman, stripped it and carpeted it with outdoor carpeting that matches my floor and mounted 4 rod holders, 1 at each corner. It is not connected to the boat and i'm trying to keep things modular since it won't always be used for fishing. I need to work on some lighting next, and have a few plans. Have you thought about adding the bow and stern lights required yet?
