This was without doubt the toughest trip i have ever completed, yet provided me with experiences which will live long in the memory. Starting in the south of the island, I caught the only bus along the only road on Jura until it ended. From there it was just me, the elements and several thousand deer for company.
The first day saw me walking for eleven hours, the last five of which only saw me covering around three miles. The thick bracken, tussocky grass and total lack of footpaths proved to be a real test of my resilience. Ticks and the famous midge just added to the challenge.
Along the way though I enjoyed a fine night at Glengarrisdale Bothy, some wild camping and a final stay at a secret bothy I knew nothing about.
