Good to see Steve get some credited and highlighted, his own RU-vid channel is very underrated. Great free resources. Question Sean - during your squats you drop into the hole very quickly and appear to have some chest fall, hips raise as a result; have you considered or experimented with a slower descent? I’m interested because I have similar “flaws” and was advised to sort out these details prior to progressing, yet here you are squatting twice what I do, at similar body weights 😂

Hi Sean! I am trying to implement hook-grip into my sumo pull but have troubles locking out (I find the grip feels awkward when it hits my thighs). Would you recommend that i shove my hips through later in the movement to avoid dragging my hands across my thighs? Is there any other recommendations you could give with regard to this issue?

Let me start off by saying two things 1. Sean im a huge fan 2. I’m a love low level lifter so this doesn’t matter. The squat looks like it’s there just your hips shoot back so much you seem to lose power.
@ganggang517
@ganggang517 3 года назад
it seems to work for him
@ryanmorse2909
@ryanmorse2909 3 года назад
Yeah I got that. But I would assume we’re all trying to be a little better in some sense
@williamlai22
@williamlai22 3 года назад
I would argue that it's biomechanically advantageous given his leverages and his squat setup (wide stance) which allows for a stronger hip drive, hence more power. It just looks like it loses power because 1. Wider stance squat are almost always slower coming out of the hole compared closer stance squats 2. Given his squat set up, the point where he comes out of the hole in the squat is biomechanically the most difficult point of the movement. 3. He's squatting some HEAVY ASS weights lol. As long as bar path is vertical and bar is over midfoot throughout the range of movement, I would say his squat form is good
@ryanmorse2909
@ryanmorse2909 3 года назад
@@williamlai22 I’m not saying to have a wide stance I agree with all that. But it throws him back in his heels and doesn’t allow to generate as much power as possible
