SEARS Closing Stockton, CA in Summer 2024

It comes with great sorrow to confirm the news that the Sears location in Stockton, California has been announced for closure some time this mall as a result of the building being bought out.
At this point, I know many don’t care for Sears anymore as their stores have become a joke to society with how appalling the conditions of their stores have become. Though it is truly astonishing to think that at one point time, there were more than 3,500 Sears and Kmart stores across America with just now a dozen non-closing Sears stores left as of June 2024. How a retail giant like this is allowed to fail is beyond anyone’s understanding. So, if you still live near any of the remaining 11 stores, pay it a visit and just reminisce about how great this American icon used to be. Rest in peace, Stockton Sears.

Not Another one! Are we Less than 10 stores now which could soon drop all the way down to zero with also online retailer shutting down as well, which Also means a Full Liquidation, shutting down entirely like Sears Canada?!?!?! PLEASE DONT LET THIS HAPPEN!!!!!😥😢😭

My hometown.... Used to go there a TON as a kid, but the last 10 years or so, it's been hanging on to a thread and always looked dead. It's sad, but it's long overdue for it to shut down/

Noooooooo there’s one in Manteca but on the updates, nobody said it was closing yet and it says it’s still open but who knows maybe after a few days it’s going to close

Does anyone remember walking in from the mall, they had a ball being held up by a vacuum cleaner? I dont know why it intrigued me as a kid. I don't live there now bye old friend

When a new business come in, they might end up removing the escalators + staircase and elevators since any possible new business coming in might only take one of the floors (probably the top floor)

Why would it only be one floor? When this sears in stockton had 2 floors one underneath and one on top?

@@powaguyamir5079Who knows If they keep both floors, I doubt they’ll let customers access the bottom floor. I think it might be a storage floor.

Even though there was a Sears in the city where I grew up I very seldom went to it. My family didn't like it and the habit sort of stuck.

At one point Sears had more than 1,000 stores under their name. They held the title as The largest department store chain in The United States. Sears was also the largest retail chain in The United States for decades. Kmart then took the title as the largest retail chain, and held it for another decade before Walmart came along and claimed it. Now Walmart faces intense competition from Amazon. Transformco lists on their website the available Sears and Kmart locations nationwide. The website also lists the remaining open stores as well. Transformco was created by Lambert, and that is where the assets of Sears and Kmart were transferred before the bankruptcy filing. Sears did reopen two locations, and has said more are going to follow as they transition into a new retailer. I have yet to see any reopenings, and will believe it when I see it.
