@@FierceDeityRick yes but the problem with game of thrones was that the books were never finished and dumb and dumber went ahead and did their own thing with the show once they ran out of material for it. With house of dragons the source material is all done.
@@FierceDeityRick no. Season 5 was still really good, season 6 was amazing and one of the best, season 7 and 8 were rushed but far from terrible like the Internet wants everyone to believe it is. It was still great television until the end.
If the man doesn't win an Emmy he is robbed. In the book he feels like a footnote, in the show we feel like the entire series revolves around him (as befits a king).
It may largely come down to where they campaign him. A few weeks ago, he felt like a lead but now he's more supporting (understandably considering the narrative trajectory), but it may be hard to compete with the more showy Matt Smith in supporting at the Emmys. That's assuming either of them get the academy's attention. Paddy is acting circles around everyone else at the moment though in my opinion.
Don't get attached to anyone everyone going to die, rhaenyra and daemon new children one of them will be king after Aegon death cz he got forced to overthrone his half sister.
@@feelssogood252 Why spoil the show though? You're not special because you read the book whilst others haven't.... We know they all die in the end, it's a prequel. Just let people admire the storytelling.
Episode 7 was truly one of the best episodes I’ve ever watched. The pacing, dialogue, action, cinematography, acting, all absolutely fantastic. The children actors blew me away. And Aemond has definitely inserted himself as one of my favorites. And despite all odds I keep finding myself more drawn to Alicent; Olivia is absolutely amazing! I’m already mourning the end of season one.
I honestly think Alicent will somehow murder Viserys to gain more power because I have noticed that every single episode, she is slowly transforming her into Cersei. She was very petty in episode 7 and it’s quite clear the marriage with Viserys isn’t a happy one. Plus, I think Rhaenrya is currently at Dragonstone instead of in King’s Landing now, so it’s now pretty good timing for Alicent to get rid of Viserys and quickly crown her son Aegon as the successor like she wants.
rhaenyra and her children are not the rightful heir of the throne ,alicients children are . Rhaenyra has all bas t ard children not to mention the kingdom disliked her being the queen . Then why should a ruler be forced on the people . Alicent and her children sacrificed a lot for the throne . What did rhaenyra do cheated on her husband.
rhaenyra caused the downfall of the kingdom the realm will and didn't want to accept her as the queen but she forced herself upon them . Aegon2 was much more compatible. I am team green.
@@starryeyes469 Viserys said that Rhaenyra is his heir. The king's word is absolute and questioning it is high treason. The rightful heir is whoever the king says he is
I love the major reveals House of the Dragon brings that contradict the third-person accounts on the books. Having Laenor escape rather than die was an amazing plot-twist that deserved an applause. Laenor will be missed.
@@billytessio6326 Seems like character pandering. This is George rr martin’s world, you can’t just write something in an unbelievably positive way to make the main character look good.
@@aegonii8471 Yeah in the book he dies in front of a crowd of people in Spice Town cut down by Carl because of a lover's quarrel so its not just a twist, its definitely a rewrite.
That Vhagar claim scene was absolute masterpiece. It really conveys how to be a Dragon Raider, from the claim, the struggle to climb the dragon, the attached roped for saddles, the ascend and the dive, it was just a pleasure to watch. BEST SCENE/10 WE WANT MORE OF THIS!
E7 was some of the best tv drama I've ever seen, let alone for that stage in the first season! Well done to everyone involved, you are absolutley nailing this series far beyond what anybody ever expected in their wildest dreams! (I hate to think what it will be like when the fireworks do start!)
Fireworks? They may never start.... TV Drama, you nailed it, this shit is a soap opera. At least we got to see the Hound and Mountain swingin swords in the first few episodes of GoT.
Every episode gets better and better! Rhaenyra and Daemon prove once again why they are the stars of the show. Emma really has made Rhaenyra a formidable character, taking over from Milly, great stuff. Now the show is hitting its stride, and I'm all here for it. Hell yes.
@@lawrencefrost9063 Milly and Emma are equally pretty. They’re playing a woman at two very different stages in her life. Rhaenyra will be in her mid 30s in the time jump next episode. Milly could have never played her.

when the greens killed rhaenyra 's son she and daemon got aegon's infant baby killed ? So rhaenyra is way more terrible and b1tch y than alicient . But cause you all don't care what she does cause the h0€ is the heir of your throne. Even if she commits 100s of treasons?
All l understand with this amazing episode is that Daemon was right from the beginning. He was right about Otto and right about their house's weakness. If Viserys had listenned to him and allowed him to marry Rae, all of this would have been easier. Edit: And you can see his resentment while he's talking with Viserys. At multiple times he's just somewhere on the side, observing them wanting to tear each others appart. He laughs at them and l'm sure he's just bitter because he knows all of this could have been avoided if his brother had listenned to him. I think he had big projects about the realm but now he's just over it and the only thing that drives him is his loyalty to Raenyra . It feels like it doesn't matter that much to him anymore, he's just doing it because he can't deny anything to her.
Daemon was right, he and Allicent are some of the only reasonable people in the show. Rhaenyra on the other hand is an awful person, a selfish adulterer and murderer who rather than admitting that her children are bastards and ceding the throne to Aegon after she dies decides to drag them into war. Even going so far as to accuse a brutally wounded child who had just lost an eye of treason for telling an obvious truth. Allicent is a dutiful and good mother and wife, she was pushed by her father to seduce and wed the king and since then has done nothing but her duty.
Even all the child actors are fantastic. Thats pretty rare seeing as almost every show has at least one annoying kid who everyone hates. The kid who played Aemond was amazing I thought, he spoke exactly as I'd imagine Aemond would from the books

Episode 7 is by far my favourite. Rhaenyras proposal to Daemon in high Valyrian was mesmerising and heart felt (part of it was Emma D’s effortless performance). Spoken with sincerity and desperation. They loved and burned for each other yet as adults it’s calculated. And Daemons response through his body language said much. He’s changed: now a father, he’s matured and contemplating what their marriage meant. That’s 100% “until death do us part.” Oh and the score by Ramin Djawadi towards the end was perfection!
Absolutely, and you really feel like they both are finally ready to be together. They've been in love with one another for a long time, but were both waiting for the right moment to marry as they deserve.
@@rhaenyralikesyoutube6289 i agree with you! ive seen comments about they say Daemon looked like very different his behavior with Nyra BUT people has to undertand that they have matured , both. Hypothetically, 2022-2032, with 2 years inbetween 5 seasons.
@@Conorp77 I think 4 seasons would be perfect for the amount of material in the story. Did they mention that there would be a 2 year gap between each season? Alicent’s outburst and trying to attack Lucerys showed us how much Otto’s manipulation has worked on her. She basically poured as much of her heart out to Rhaenyra as she could. Alicent lost her best friend, and her life due to being Queen and it has really traumatized her.
@@yukijames1321 she is the one who sneaked behind her friend’s back and opened her legs to her father. Even if her own father put her to the task if she REALLY was that good of a friend to rhaenyra she would have told her … But I’m convinced that deep inside she always envied Her. Remember that scene under the tree … how she reacted when Rhaenyra told her that she didn’t care about her position that she only worried for her mother and that she hoped her father would finally get his heir … Her and her father are leeches they brought all that mess on themselves I will never empathize for them
This thread here is wonderful. Thank you all for the great analysis. I love Alicent and it's nice to see viewers see her as a great character rather than just a bitch like many folks on tumblr are seeing her. And Olivia Cooke is the best actress.
@@yukijames1321 Exactly! It's like Cersei would do anything for her children even after knowing how Joffrey was 😂 Or Dany for her kids that is her three dragons, that's why she finally lost it when she at end lost her two dragons and even Missandei. Even Olenna Tyrell did what she had to, to protect her daughter from Joffrey. A mother's love is truly powerful. Not saying I completely support what Alicent does tho, but she gave the same sort of upbringing to her children which her father gave her.
It's true, although it's tough to think of many others, that aren't in Game of Thrones at least. In terms of joyrides, at least. A lot of people shit all over the Jon and Dany joyriding scene in season 8, but despite some subpar effects, I thought that was a good scene specifically because it was the only real joyriding scene. Which, I mean... how do you NOT have a joyriding scene in a show with dragons? I'm glad they finally did one that it seems most will be able to agree was a great scene. The one with Daemon and Laena was cool, but that one also had some questionable effects, and was pretty short and didn't really revel in the joy for very long. Same for the first one with Rhaenyra in episode 1. Aemond and Vhagar was a nice long intimate scene that reminded me of like Harry and Buckbeak in Prisoner of Azkaban. Him being a kid really helps sell the joy too. The screams of joy (and terror, lol) coming from a kid adds that whimsical fantasy element that Game of Thrones would normally shy away from, but felt appropriate here.
@@AWSVids Completely agree. The entire joyride scene actually had me in awe. I thought it was beautifully done and the effects on Vhagar were spot on. What made the scene even better was Ramin Djawadi’s score. I know I can’t be the only one who got excited once Vhagar took that first step and we started to here the Targaryen theme. 😮💨🤌🏼
@@kevint.8024 My eyes were watering down during the whole thing... having only read how Aemond took claim of Vhagar, and now see it come to life... it was mesmerizing..
It was great, but kind of unrealistic how he was hanging on to the dragon while the dragon was going full speed. That shit is equivalent to hanging on to an airplane. It’s impossible, especially for a small kid like that. They should have made him tie himself up with the ropes first, would have been more realistic.
I know everyone keep saying that each episode is better than the previous one, but this one was truly mesmerising, even the cinematography and the color palette were absolutely stunning, dark, gripping, the tension was palpable throughout the entirety of this episode and no scene was made for filling empty spaces. This series is simply from another world man, the entire budget of ROP ain't shit when compared to that Vhagar riding scene. WOW!!!!

@@peterretep1010 I think it's a good decision since it shows another contrast between the Blacks and the Green. Since Sir Criston killed Joffrey, the Blacks only "killed" Laenor. To add, killing off another member of the LGBTQ will bring bad reviews to the show for killing them early on the show. With that, Laenor "dying" will give him his happy ending without going far off the book. Because Qarl was not mentioned after sailing off (correct me if I'm wrong))

so crazy episode 7 is by far the best. The scene of Aemond riding Vhagar reminds me of when Jon Snow and Daenerys searched for the Nightking and then pierced through the clouds with a bright moon background. During what happened in the driftmark hall, the commotion dialogue reminded me like the ones in Game of Thrones. Alicent here is like Cersei who flinched when she was afraid she would find out the truth. Viserys interrogates Aemond like the way Robert interrogates Sansa with the typical "your king" threat.
Daemon reminds me of Jamie Lannister the character you thought you'll hate since you first see him and then eventually you end up loving him no matter what. the rogue prince is here to slay

Watching Aemond claim Vhagar was so good and it felt so realistic and contrasts Dany and Jon claiming Drogon and Rhaegal. Of course it won’t be easy for a 10 year old to claim a 150 year old dragon. It makes me want a dragon so bad. My only worry is that we’ve not seen Daeron yet ans Tessarion and I really want to Dreamfyre and Sunfyre properly
I wouldn't say Aemond taming Vhaegar felt good. Of course he really won Vhaegar, probably all other Valyrians were introduced in a safe manner. But still it doesn't feel good just because he is Alicent's kid. Of Vhaegar I must say he is a bit of a whore: happily goes from one rider to another. Vhaegar is ancient. One of Aegon's(the Conqueror) sisters rode him. Vhaegar is a smaller version of Balerion. To have choose Almond just days after his rider's death feels sick.
