Learn more about how Avinash built his reapplication to ISB and secured an admit to India's top MBA program!
Despite a 750 GMAT, Avinash had earlier applied unsuccessfully to ISB. As he decided to reapply to ISB, he worked with us to build a stronger application which focused on presenting his strengths succinctly and showcased how he fit with ISB! We caught up with him to learn more about his application journey.
After graduating from KIIT, Avinash primarily worked in the IT sector as a project manager for multiple companies. While he did have a strong career progression, there were certain aspects of his overall profile which he felt apprehensive about.
- Coming from a non-IIT, non-NIT college
- Over-represented pool of applicants, hailing from the IT sector
- Multiple job switches within a short career.
- Lack of brand names on his CV. While he had worked with multiple companies, they were mostly tech-startups or small scale firms and not Big4 or well-known brands.
Most of these apprehensions were trivial, as Avinash realized later. Top MBA programs such as ISB have a holistic approach to evaluating their candidates, which takes into consideration various aspects of their personality instead of just the eye-grabbing superficial details.
As we worked together, we helped him better understand the MBA evaluation process, his qualities, and how to better share his experiences with the admission teams through the overall application! While this allowed him to create a much stronger application, it also built his confidence and clarity about his career plans.
