depends on your model and year. If you look on our EPIperformance youtube or just click on it above by the video we show how to install a clutch kit on a lot of different models. This will show you have to remove and install the spring and helix.
I took my machine in for service, and was told my secondary was chewed up and should be replaced. They recommended going to the round rollers in the new clutch. I had no idea what that meant, but took their recommendation, and said to go for it. I looked up this video to understand what they were talking about. Thanks.
I have a spot in one of my rollers that it is hard to spin over. I want to replace the roller. It is on a 2014 Ranger XP900 LE EPS. Can I just punch them out or do I have to take everything apart first? Do I have to take the back plate off (one with the loctite torx heads)? Thanks.
if your clutch had the helix and the four torx bolts you will have to remove the spring and helix and then remove the pins just like we do in the video. When you put it back together us blue loctite on the four torx head bolts.
It could. In most cases though you will have less slippage in low gear compared to high because the lower gear ratio is easier on the clutch system. But if you clutch is worn really bad, in low gear your belt will travel through the shift faster and might get to the worn spot in the clutch quicker.

you are correct, we skipped to the roller replacement. On the 2016 and newer models that have the square sliders helix is under spring tension. Use a marker to make a alignment mark on the clutch and on the helix so you can assemble them back together correctly. You will need to use a compression tool to hold put a little pressure on the helix, then remove the four torx bolt (its best to carefully heat them a little because there is blue Loctite on them) and then slowly and carefully let the helix and the spring out of the clutch.
if your replacing the square slider with the round roller it will react quicker with less drag. The square sliders will also wear out your clutch before the roller wears out, then you will need to replace the entire clutch. It will keep your clutch from binding. The new replacement rollers will hold up better then the OE rollers from wear and tear.
