Today we are starting a new chain driven 4WD project. In this video we get everything laid out and start working on building the frame. we get the front A-arms built and tacked into place and also decide where the seats are going to go.

It’s so refreshing to see a young entrepreneur using old school methods to create fun machines. And in an un-insulated shop to boot. Hats off sir

Awesome to see the focus on the machining. I'm a machinist and have always enjoyed the tolerances you work with. Measuring tools is key, and I see you using them often. < through your entire build. You've come so far. Your content is excellent, and the production quality continues to grow. LOVE your channel !!

I think sections of the rollcage or roll bar should be bolted and removable to pull the engine out, rather than trying to fanagle it between the bars.

Yes I 100% agree it doesn't look like a hot tub anymore. It's looking awesome!! On those heavy bend you can cut the metal thickness wide slot in the center of the bend (3" slot center of 6"wide bend) and weld it back after bending. Hope that made sense.

Firstly, love the videos and creative work you do. You may want to consider putting a supporting bearing on the end of the gearbox input shaft; gearboxes are designed to have the shaft supported by the end of the crankshaft of the engine its connected to, and all held rigidly by a bellhousing. Keep up the great work!!!

If I were placing those rear uprights purely based on aesthetics, I would have swept them back 45 degrees and given the back a 'fastback' appearance. It would also give more internal capacity. Then I would apply some z-bracing to make sure it was adding to the strength, especially since the forward bar is going to be holding the coilovers.

@edgarv9502
@edgarv9502 Год назад
First of all I love your content. I have noticed the position of the upper rear bars of the engine compartment. I wonder the following: is there no risk of breaking in the direction of the back of the seats? In the event of an accident, the back can be deformed or even break with the two bars facing your back. I know you're driving cautiously but perhaps you can adjust the angle to face outwards as the back will bear quite a bit of weight. Although it is true that if you complete the bodywork with an upper protection cage, there will be a distribution of forces. a greeting from Spain! you are a true metal craftsman!

Cant wait to see this thing finished it looks badass bro! Have you ever thought about putting something like a honda k series in one of these? You can usually pick them up pretty cheap and theres a huge market for aftermarket parts for them!
@michaelakers8698
@michaelakers8698 Год назад
The machining of the splines was really cool. but you might need to make a support bracket with a pilot bearing for the end of the input shaft on the transmission. without that support you will have a lot of stress on the input bearing and a build up of heat causing the bearing to fail prematurely. good work you have really cool designs. Me and my three sons watch your videos.

90 degrees on the rear uprights makes it look a bit “ box’y “ plus the side rails across the passenger compartment could have had a downward kink which would have made entry / exit a bit easier if your not going with doors .. however it’s a cool build 👍 keep doing your thing
@blainethompson6583
@blainethompson6583 Год назад
next time you are bending something your press doesnt want to bend, cut a few relief cuts. will bend super easy and accurately then you just weld up the cuts after you bend to the angle you want. i do it all the time to bend 3/8 - 1/2 in my press break thats only rated for 3/16. awesome videos bud

Awesome machining bro! On that spline hub connection, that small amount of play might be reduced simply by clocking them one tooth. You have 10 possible mating arrangements, maybe one of em is less sloppy than the rest. That's the beauty of hand made things.

The jig he used to cut the splines is actually really accurate, so its unlikely the spacing is noticeably different between them
