I really feel that Mary would have been bettered served not spending all her youth in France - it made her an outsider. She knew French politics but not Scottish. Also, I can't really blame Elizabeth for trying to get Mary her throne back via diplomacy - I wonder if James felt any guilt over that.
Very interesting and educational, I always found Mary's life to be very complexed. Her throne and position was always threatened, even more then Elizabeth's it seems.
I’ve never thought of this until I watched this again … Mary was DEVOUTLY Catholic to be married under a Protestant ceremony tells me that she didn’t believe that marriage would be lawful and was not seen as lawful in the eyes of god making me wonder the actual authenticity of Mary’s intentions when marrying him
