It's one of those things where you ask yourself: "Why was this not done sooner!" Really cool to see this, it will save lives.

Very nice video! Look forward to see it in action on the ground and off course in the air. Thank you both for sharing and providing a solution on this important topic👍

I can’t wait to get back in the air. My local club is still not open. I think the prolonged lock down has hit them financially. I hope we can recover

Why do you think there are not too many gliders with a sustainer or a self launch mechanism, i mean, Its a win win right?
@buzzinbritain8222
@buzzinbritain8222 3 года назад
If you are buying us all one then we'll have one. Cost is one issue. Fire risk and complexity another. Also there are some purists who believe a sailplane/glider should not have an engine - it changes the game. ps I believe around 75% of newly built gliders/sailplanes are ordered with an engine these days.

@@buzzinbritain8222 yeah man, people dont want to damage their 200k gliders when outlanding. Also it is hella sweet to be able to go fly on the airport perhaps during week when there is nobody to get you in the air :) But the cost really ramps up with these perks

The biggest thing that holds people back, or maybe what SHOULD, is the fact that they are far more complex to operate and use. And reliability is a major concern.

No more belly landings 😅

LoL same goes for the transponder antenna.

Certainly the ground will move out of the way when it notices the flashing light!

You need to be really trying to manage that in an LS4.

Sadly this is not the original Anti collision light... It's ripped off from a German Company called "Sotecc". Please buy the original!
@MegaspeedMilly
@MegaspeedMilly 3 года назад
And who did Sotecc "rip it off" from do you think? Ever heard of How2Soar? This version was installed in the Schempp-Hirth Discus 2c FES until summer last year when they "stole" their product.
@Nephtys77
@Nephtys77 3 года назад
@@MegaspeedMilly I don't mean the idea. Sotecc wasn't the first company with a canopy flash. But the design of aeroflash is very very similar to soteccs design. And not only the canopy flash: the design of the strobe and connectBOX, or how aeroflash call their fuse box is also quite the same. The aeroflash canopy flash came also two or three months after the release of Sotecc's flasher on the market. Competition on the market is good, but copies are bad in my opinion

more like see and get blinded. Gliders don't fly IFR so there's no point. Good video too
@FlyingSimon
@FlyingSimon 3 года назад
Well if it was IFR, ATC would ensure seperation. But we have to look out ourselves and we do fly very close to clouds!
@davesgliding
@davesgliding 3 года назад
This would be a real hassle and distraction for hookup on a Libelle canopy. Like the fuselage one.
@FlyingSimon
@FlyingSimon 3 года назад
@@davesgliding Awesome! Do you fly a libelle?
@davesgliding
@davesgliding 3 года назад
@@FlyingSimon I co-own a Libelle, serial no. 34 with top/bottom spoilers. Not flying at the moment due to lockdowns, but hopefully we can fly it again before summer.
