Welcome to Costa Rica! Thanks for road tripping around the country with us, we had a jam packed first few days 😁 What would you be most excited to see in Costa Rica? Would you rent a car or take buses/taxis? And would you get in that cable car to get across the river or walk on the rocks?! If you know why we could see our breath at the top of the mountain hike (when it was warm) let us know in the comments!

As a Costa Rican, you planed it very well! You went to not very touristy places or activities! Those waterfall places and Pico Blanco are places we go as locals :)

Just WOW!! You have us even more pumped for the Costa Rica trip we have planned. We are happy traveling with Spirit Airlines as well. Looked like some beautiful hikes, waterfalls and drives. We are also really looking forward to some of this food.

Wow did we take a wildly different vacation in Costa Rica. It is still in my top 3 most adventurous and enjoyable. I stayed at Arenal volcano that was nice enough to put on several night lava shows, zip lining, 4 wheeling, horseback riding, hanging bridges, and waterfall repelling. We always had a driver as I would never drive those roads. But I did destroy a pair of hiking boots and got some jeans so muddy I just left them behind.

Next time we head to Costa Rica we're definitely going to do the hanging bridges and maybe get down into the Nicoya peninsula. All those things you mention from your trip sound amazing. We've come very close to leaving a pair of hiking shoes behind, and have definitely left several pairs of cheap water shoes behind.

Yeah, I think our main concern after not seeing another person for miles and having little cell reception was what we would do if one of us got bit by a snake or took a bad fall. But that's part of the thrill of the hike I guess.

Yo soy Tica y no me atrevería a meterme en la montaña, como lo hicieron ustedes!!! Qué valientes !!!... Hemos tenido muchos turistas que se pierden en la Montaña!!! Y han tenido que intervenir los Bomberos y la ⛑️ Cruz Roja por días ,para encontrarlos !!! Gracias a Dios que no les pasó nada malo !! También algunos han sido mordidos por serpientes u otras cosas !!! Qué dicha que les fue bien y están sanos y salvos!!! ❤

Hello! We just booked our first international (outside of Mexico and the Bahamas) after learning lots of travel hacks from Kara & Nate. Now I am on a mission to find videos like yours to learn how to plan and ask questions that might put my mind at ease about traveling in Central America. We have booked an AirBnb will free cancellation up to two weeks before our 7 day vacation but I'm thinking about renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle and bouncing around every couple of nights so we can see as much as possible during our short visit.

Kara and Nate have great travel hacks and are an awesome resource for sure. We've done Costa Rica both ways. The first we spent the whole time in the Dominican area. The second we hopped around. Both were amazing. The second (hopping around) was certainly more stressful (due mainly to all the driving on sketchy roads).... But we'll definitely remember that trip more. It sounds like you've done your research, so we're sure you'll have an amazing time no matter which route you go!

Great suggestion. Sorry you had to experience first hand getting injured on a hike. We could only imagine how terrible it would be trying to hike miles back down a mountain with a sprained/broken ankle!

Nice video! I think I'll do the basquet one way, rocks on the way back. Walking to the platform seems like a must! After driving in Europe if my husband sees this video he will not drive in Costa Rica!

We think alike! Both the basquet and platform are so much fun, and we'd highly recommend both. We talked to some Europeans while in Costa Rica who told us that the width of the roads is similar in Europe and Costa Rica, but the quality of the roads in Costa Rica is much much worse.

We've generally had good luck with Spirit (i believe only 1 out of 5 or 6 Sprit flights have been significantly delayed) and we would not hesitate to book with them again. Wow, we're going to Costa Rica end of February for 2 weeks, but I cheated and booked a holiday with TUI, 1 week tour and 1 week all inclusive...so least we don't have the issue of driving ourselves .😂..your views look amazing and are making us very excited for our trip from England. ❤😊

Ahh that is awesome! We wouldn't say that is cheating 😊 there are so many ways to explore Costa Rica! Not everyone is as crazy as Skylar and willing to drive all over in the mountains. As much fun as it was, the driving is also stressful and exhausting so we sure can understand booking a tour and/or all inclusive. We hope you have a wonderful time on your trip! What area of the country will you be staying in?

We have heard there are some nice resorts in Costa Rica but haven't been to any ourselves. It is nice that the country has options for both relaxing at resorts and crazy adventures. This trip for us was more about the adventures but we sure do understand the preference to stay at a nice resort! Thanks for watching 😊

Costa Rica rainy season is quite long and runs from May through November, so you're likely going to have some rain during your visit. That said, even during the rainy season, most days to still have a good amount of sunshine.

Did you ever figure out the reason for seeing your breath up there? I can see mine outside today but that's because it is cold up here! Also, any issues with wildlife on your hikes? Snakes, spiders, wild critters??

No we never did really look into it... we just figured we'd see what kind of responses we got from our viewers and go based off of those! No issues with wildlife on our hikes at all, although we did see a poison dart frog and were told that there are MANY venomous snakes (over 20 species) to keep an eye out for.

@@Explorcation Found this... ... seeing your breath has less to do with the cold but more to do with the combination of temperature AND relative humidity. At its warmest, your breath can show at around 13°C (55.4°F) - Provided that the relative humidity is very high, like above 95%, and especially if it's foggy out.

thanks for looking into this! That's very interesting. One thing I will say though is that it was definitely well above 55 degrees where we could see our breath... but we were also pretty much in a cloud and the humidity was probably even higher than 95% @@genehinders9639

@@Explorcation yeah, the info I found said it had to do with humidity levels when its in warmer climates and the temperature of air leaving our bodies...I had no idea that could happen in warmer temps either!?! My curiosity was nagging at me!

Costa Rica is way too expensive. There are more beautiful places in the world you can visit for half the price. Also the dollar is so has dropped 30% against their currency mostly because of all the drug money that's is floating here. Sane your money.

The more touristy areas definitely are expensive... some places were on par with here in Florida even. Fortunately we did find the more off the beaten path spots to be much more affordable. And not sure about the beauty comment, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thanks for sharing your adventures. You always do such an excellent job. I’ve never been to Costa Rica, so this is great to watch. I love nature. I am a nature photographer. But I would never do the adventures that you guys do! Maybe, it’s because I’m a bit older than you, but I don’t think I would’ve done it at your age, either! Lol! The open bridges remind me of Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is beautiful, but I am never going back, because of the roads! 🙈🙈🙈

Our pleasure. Costa Rica truly is a nature lover's dream. We hope that we never have to stop going on adventures like these, but we know some day we will... so we'll keep on doing as many as we can while we can! Part of the joy of doing them is knowing that it allows those who are unable a chance to still experience a bit of it for themselves. The way you describe Lake Tahoe makes us want to visit immediately! Sounds wonderful.
