@Lowe_Belowe they said "I am Japanese. Although the area where I live was not affected, my heart hurts. Thank you to everyone overseas for your support."
If it's a powerful one, above 5, rarely come alone. A 6.4 that hit my city had 4k+ quakes after him in a spam of 4 months and 2k+ within the first month.
@@PaulaDautremont This, but also, the direction of the shaking makes a difference. Aka milder shocks shaking the wrong direction can make it impossible to move without falling tec. so there's even a whole science to that :'\ I've been in one with evacuation, a year after the big tsunami in a disaster cite city with the coast in sight. in winter in the cold. Not fun, and it was not even such a big one! At least many things are built smartly and e.g. turn off automatically when it starts shaking. There's barely time to remember what to turn off as to not return to an e.g. burnt down house. It helps to stay calm alongsides everyone else, but apparently it's still hard to react, if you do not have the drill down and your emergency stuff ready to go at all times. Thankfully ours was so small n short, we could return within hours. This looks worse! At least, having dismantled some of those disaster site houses .... they're wooden frames with thin drywall boards and stuffing in between. If any of that stuff collapses over your head, you'll get hurt, but your chances to survive are not so bad, unlike in any house here in Germany (cause we had no need to build in that light manner).
I have lived in Nonoichi, Ishikawa Prefecture, for 6 years between October 2011 and October 2017, and all this time I thought that the western coast was safer than the eastern coast because we never had an earthquake during that period of time. And now this! Let's pray for Japan. 🙏🏾🇯🇵🙏🏾🇯🇵🙏🏾🇯🇵🙏🏾
Was stationed at Misawa AB in the late 90's, and I can attest, earthquakes are no joke. Luckily, 🤞 the Japanese built the majority of the buildings and towers on the base, giving relief in quality and not hiring the lowest bidder! Sending love and prayers to Japan.
Crazy…I grew up in Misawa in the early 2000s as well. Lived in the towers and been through my fair share as a kid. Goes to show you how powerful these earthquakes are bc Japan has arguably some of the best infrastructure in the world. Sending prayers to everyone 🖤
I was in Tokyo decades ago up in a high rise when a quake hit. The building swayed and that was spooky enough. Remember, the Japanese architects take earthquakes into account and build accordingly. So why you see things shaking, that is a powerful quake indeed!
I’m in Japan on vacation. Imagine sitting in your bed on the fourteenth floor of a skyscraper and feeling the whole room start swaying like you were sitting in a windy tree. That was in Tokyo, but we were in Kanazawa four days ago. It’s really scary to think about.
My heart goes out to Japan. I used to live there for quite a few years. It's a very special place with very special people. It will be late, but tomorrow I will be having Toshikoshi Soba in honour of my most favourite country in the world! To hope and wish for the best possible outcomes in 2024.
It's a horrible thought that not only do you have to deal with an earthquake but you expect a tsunami straight after. Wish you all the best, Japan, I'm sorry for the losses, and hope most people will be okay.
It’s nice to see a people and culture that respects each other enough there’s no looting and other threats from fellow citizens. I feel so bad for all these folks in Japan and I hope they’ll be alright.
When a country provides healthcare for all and rent control and tax the billionaires to help the common folk they don’t have problems during such events
Funny ... Do you include the neo-fascists who admire War criminals and denies atrocities ... also allowed over Sexualization of females and pedophilia .
The japan lovers never apply the same standards to japan as they do the west. The japanese hate foreigners and are perhaps the 2nd most bigoted people I have met after the Chinese. They see themselves a s victims and the west as oppressors. I have no sympathy for them what so ever, @@BlazingPixels
I`m a Japanese. Living in Japan sounds nice, but this kind of disaster can happen anytime. So we are strong. We appreciate all voices whole over the world to cheer up us :)
This kind of disaster can happen anywhere along the “ring of fire” but Japan is the most earthquake ready and you have earthquake warnings and tsunami alerts , Japan has earthquake reinforcements and super prepared. Here in California we have nothing like Japan does .
Which "god" are you praying to? The all-knowing god that didn't know this would happen, or the one who knew it would happen and did nothing, or the one who caused it to happen because he has a plan for us.
This is so sad I was planning to visit Japan in October of this year .. I hope they make a fast recovery ..I lived through the big earthquake in Alaska a couple years ago and I still think about it til this day… I love you Japan also the people and the culture ..stay strong
This is so horrifying. I can’t imagine what the Japanese people have and are going through. I pray that everyone will be found if trapped and that they survive. I’m sending my deepest heartfelt sympathy and prayers to everyone. ❤
Japan's expertise in earthquake preparation and response is truly impressive. Their advanced technology for infrastructure reinforcement and early warning systems play a crucial role in protecting lives and minimizing damage. Additionally, the country's extensive public education programs and regular disaster drills contribute to the remarkable resilience and calmness often displayed by citizens during earthquakes.
All of that is paramount to reducing casualties but, when you experience as many earthquakes as the citizens of Japan experience, it's no stretch to understand that their resilience and calm comes from much more than mere infrastructure and public education. It's the same as the resilience and calm that the residents of Tornado Alley and Dixie Alley exhibit when a major tornado ravages their areas. Much the same as the residents of Japan, the residents of TA and DA have seen enough devastation, often enough, to have formulated an individual plan of action, should they survive the latest catastrophe. It's not so much external influences but the inner strength and determination of the people themselves and it is that strength and determination that manifests itself as resilience and calm.
I live in Tokyo, Japan. I know calling people up or sending text messages to the people living in the area will make their phone battery run out, so I am restraining from contacting my friend living in the area. There has been multiple quakes in the area for several years but nobody expected this size quake happening and the tsunami.
I'm sorry this has happened. However a huge earthquake only has to be possible, and it will happen sooner or later, and it will happen again. This something that the people in California, United States seem to have forgotten.
Hello, I am a Japanese living in Japan. There was no major damage in my area, but I send my thanks and love to all the people around the world who are concerned about Japan.
I am in the southern island of Kyushu, but watching this on the news was crazy, as there were so many quakes that stated out weaker but kept getting stronger and stronger. I pray for my dear friends who live there. May everyone stay safe.
@@Arfabiscuit🤦🏻 no donate to charities that will be heading over to help victims… that’s the best way to assist if you are unable to head over to assist physically… vote for trump… what an ignorant thing to say…
Kyra, He's just a TROLL, someone so lonely and angry about their life but do nothing to make it better. Too bad the ones who need help the most think they don't.
I'm Japanese. Thank you so much for warm comment. I'm worry about the people, not only locals, but tourist from overseas. Please protect your head when earthquake, and run away from coast as soon as possible. This shaking is not normal even us.
@lindalambertson6294 - - - Prayers ? Why are you praying to something that ALLOWED this to happen in the first place ? Clearly, praying to magical wizards in the sky is ineffective. People have been "praying" for over 2000 years, and have changed NOTHING. Think about it, wake up !
The conduct of the Japanese people in the aftermath of natural calamities is exemplary. The way all the passengers of an aircraft that caught fire was evacuated speaks of the professionalism and discipline of the Japanese people. The rest of the world has a lot to learn from them.
Sending love and sympathy from across the world's biggest pond, and ocean, from Los Angeles to those in Japan affected by the quake. 7.5 is very big. Hopefully people are safe. What a way to wake up to the new year. ❤
@@therealdeal3672 i think it was around 4, it happened at 8:30. I live in Tarzana and I felt it quite good, it was short though. I feel it was related to Japan’s earthquake as well. Really glad it wasnt 7,5 too, not sure if our homes built to withstand it
@@denizaktas4624thanks for letting me know. Yeah probably 7.5 would make an amazing amount of destruction in Los Angeles. And I agree with you it occurred to me that it seemed like if tectonic plates are moving on the other side of the Pacific that it makes sense that there would be some commensurate movement over here. I always consider the little ones good news because they're easing the pressure slowly. And are hopefully not foreshocks. Happy New Year.
Though the situation is pretty hectic here in Japan, it’s much better than the East Japan Earthquake. We’ve learnt from the disaster, and with the increased level of public awareness towards the dangers of tsunami, we’ve probably been able to keep damage to the minimum.
I am Japanese. And I live in Japan. A large fire broke out during the night and 200 houses were completely destroyed. Then, the water pipe burst and there wasn't enough water! Earthquakes are still occurring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your concern.
한국인입니다... 뉴스보고 너무 놀랐습니다... 큰 피해가 없길 기원합니다 🙏 I am a Korean who can speak English a little, although not as well as a native speaker. The comments here are shocking. Worrying about safety is a universal human value, but is it wrong to hope that everything is okay? Please stop saying negative things.
I wish the people of Japan well this New Year. They are real fine people when you get to know them. You don't see them complaining about anything. This too say pass.
😢😢😢😢😢At Nagoya Sakae today we all experienced the long quake and fearful cause the shaking was violent to make you panic.. 😢 i can only imagine how difficult it is now at the epicenter😭God bless Japan.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@mikeoxlong5843 Hate to break this to ya Mike but God doesn't make earthquakes happen, the earth does. Prayers give people comfort and sometimes that's what they need. Take your bitterness and troll someone else.
@@mikeoxlong5843 Take a break dude. Yall only judge god when bad things happen , but for the many blessings he gives every single second . considering how many bad people are in the world, nobody sees that. If i was god and i would see how disgusting and evil the world is , i would end it in the very next second.
It would be helpful to explain that a 4 ft tsunami wave is not the same as a 4 ft wave at your local beach. It is a 4 ft rise in the level of the ocean covering many miles.
Japan and the Philippines are on the western part of the Pacific Tectonic Plate. Its unfortunate that people are going through this. It is interesting that I felt an overwhelming feeling to make a small donation that helps friends to our world wide brotherhood yesterday. I know it will provide a small bit of help for the friends in Japan. This is one of the events that identifies our time period as the last days of human rulership over the earth and it is spoken of as critical times hard to deal with will be here. Donations do not cure the on going problems that mankind is facing but in a small way it can provide some help to provide the essentials of food, water, and shelter.
I live in Poland and we get these small quakes and honestly even those make you feel super powerless. Can't even imagine being stuck in a building when this happens.
