Old homes need loving, responsible caretakers like you. Please do not build! Reuse, restore, recycle that is how we will keep New England the charming place it is. You are so talented and old houses need you! The 1790s house and 3 barns next door to me were destroyed, the land clear cut and now there is a 7,000 square foot "mansion" there. People say I should be glad since it will make my property value go up but I would do anything to have that friendly old house back. I feel like I live next to a hotel!

I do believe old homes have memories as in spirits 🤗 my grandmother used to say love your home it will love you back 🙏🏻💕🇺🇸

Yes to dropping off notes/contacting home owners. A friend was visiting the block where she grew up. She knocked on the door of a home she had always admired and spoke with the owners. She gave them her phone number and asked if they would call her if they decided to sell. They did. She and her husband bought the lovely San Francisco Victorian and have lived in it for over thirty years. Best of luck with your search. I'm interested in your journey.

Stay! Grass is always greener. I have my great grandparent's home. I love the wavy glass, the creaky floors, the original hardware, the very steep stairs, I'm even learning to manage the plumbing installed by the Roman's. Some things I would change, but not enough to move.

This is my favorite type of your videos! A few ghost stories, a few old family photos and a lot of old houses!

FYI real Estate prices are at an all time high - building supplies have sky rocketed- not financially savvy to buy or build right now. Perhaps the best time to design is now.

It’s really hard to imagine you in a newly built home after seeing how you derive such pleasure in the history and feel of an older home. If I had a vote, I don’t but if I did, you know I would vote for an oldie but goodie home with lot’s of character and history.

Linda, I do love your current home.I think you will always have fun/interesting content with all your home projects and interests. Your home exudes love and care. Maybe that is your forever home. I think once people make up their minds to stay in a home for a set period of time... they feel they need to start looking. I say enjoy your home, do small projects that make you happy and spark joy. If you are meant to move, you will get a sign by one way or another. One more note, your videos spark joy in me and those of my friends that also subscribe. In my experience, you know right away if a house is for you. When I purchased my current home, I knew it needed a lot of work but knew within 20 minutes that it would be my forever home. I love my house. Happy hunting! You will know!

Linda, I LOVE your videos! Your my kindred style sista! My husband and I built our retirement home at the beach in Delaware and I don't have land to garden they way I want to but, I make do with raised vegetable beds and bit of landscaping surrounding my house. My daughter is planning a career move to teach in Massachusetts which I'm thrilled about because I love the area she is looking into and, hopefully, will have some land attached to it that I can help design and garden in her dirt! I have abilities in the spirit/energy realm....there is energy in everything. I wish you luck in finding your dream home.... Thank you for taking us along on your many adventures!

Dear Linda...I believe I'm your biggest fun in Greece!!! I'm a retirement Navy Officer. Well...I adore your house. BUT if you believe that you will be happier in an other house, just do it! Here in Greece we live in much smaller homes...When I see a 5 bedroom house. the first thing that comes in my mind is: how do they manage to keep this big house clean????? Also I'm too afraid of ghosts etc...(((::::

I believe everything happens for a reason and when it’s right you will find it. I have to say I’m in love with your home. It’s so cozy and your backyard is stunning. This Janice would like to say I ALWAYS enjoy your vids! 🙂 My daughter and son-in-law recently moved into a home they planned and built in Kansas, while living in Alabama. My son-in-law is in the Air Force, my daughter a dentist-so, they were both working and planning this house at a distance-while she was pregnant. He was being transferred, she had to find a new job in Kansas before they moved. Talk about STRESS. They are still working out a few issues with the builder but had to live in an apartment until the build was complete as he had to report for duty. The house has its’ perks, the deck and view of a nearby pond being my favorite things, but how they managed it all is amazing to me. They are both in their thirties, which helps I think. Yes, building is so dependent on the quality of the builder employed, and their sources. Same is true of remodeling. Linda, I have a paint problem I’d like to ask your advice. Of course it’s a problem with WHITE paint! I live in a condo, have for 25+years. When I moved in the paint color was an off white that seemingly had no undertone. I LOVED IT. It did, however, glow beautifully in the various lighting from outside all day long. My place needs repainting and I am looking for the right paint available currently. Any ideas or suggestions? I’ve been everywhere locally, looked at numerous sources trying to recreate what was in my place originally (no record exists) but I am still very nervous about the whole thing. I am a single person, renting, and will tackle some of this task myself. Also looking for a crisp white trim paint recommendation. Thank you SO much for any suggestion 🙂 Thank you for the road trip touring so many beautiful places!

Love your channel! I feel your build or not pain! My husband and I bought a beautiful lake lot, hired an architect, and he designed our dream home for that beautiful spot. That was 2019-2020. Mid 2020 (and as building prices escalated!) we lost our building desire and have no regrets as we purchased a newish, age-in-place home that we love! You’ll know what’s right for you - move, stay-put, or build!

You sound like my kind of person. The newest home I have ever owned was built in 1956. To say I love older homes would be an understatement. I now live in a 1892 Queen Anne Victorian in a small Mississippi town.

I think about you every time I cook. I now use a cutting matt inside a cookie tray. It helps my counter and my floor and cupboards stay dry and so much cleaner, and you know, no one else told me to cut with a cookie tray with sides! Thank you! My family came from Stratford, CT in 1638, so I was curious about Connecticut and started watching your vlog. Thanks Linda!

My husband and I decided after going through many homes to custom build our home on a lot we purchased prior. We never regretted it!! We lived there for almost thirty years until we became empty nesters and the house became too empty and the upkeep became more of a chore then a pleasure. We wanted to travel and spend time away from cold Ontario winters🌨️ In the end,home is where you find happiness and love💕

I, too, am house-hunting in this crazy market: RI, MA, NH. It is not easy! Like you, my family settled in this area back in the 1600's. I love watching to see what you find. I've had similar experiences: houses sold before I can visit, bidding wars, prices too high for homes that I would then wish to remodel. It's exhausting. Also, I lived in a haunted house (when I was young); it's something I take seriously. I toured one house recently, which was so choc-o-bloc with unhappy energy - I quickly left. No thanks! Linda, Follow your heart don’t give up!! It took my husband and I two years to find our property. We have never regretted it for a moment!!

We live in an 1809 cape that we have unmodeled. We knocked out walls to find fireplaces, pulled up tile floors to find the wide planks, etc. and we've had our share of ghosts. Our children are all grown and out on their own. We are ready to move. To where is a big question, so I would really appreciate your upcoming video on researching towns. I love your videos and your home is beautiful!

Boy oh boy...I’m feeling badly for you....in this part of New England, the minute you see a property that looks promising, it goes to someone else in the blink of an eye...we were so lucky to find this house and 30 acres....after four months, we have settled in nicely...always more projects to do, but it’s a fun process...best of luck in your search!

Hi Linda I'm sick with a sore throat so your travels hit the spot for me I understand you when you talked about hearing the birds... we live in a small village called Byron it was incorporated by London Ontario...but when we first moved here in 73 people would ride their horses down our road like an English village one time the foxhunt people even came down the street what a sight scarlet jackets and black velvet dressage helmets thank God no fox I would have run out and rescued it...Its not a village anymore and even in the backyard it's a pleasure to hear the birds at certain times of the day. Mr. Storey looked very dignified I thought especially in his wig.. and may I say there was something akin about the NOSE! We here in Canada drink a lot of tea like the English but my Dad and Mum needed their coffee in the morn eh? I liked the house where you left the note being intrigued sounds positive I shall cross my fingers for you and Ben I think you two will be happy where ever you are as long as you have each other Bbyee Susan in London Ontario

There are so many things to consider when house hunting. Location, size of house and land, price...but the most important thing to consider is will Willow be happy! Good luck with your search.

Hi Linda - your home is so beautiful & you’ve put so much of your heart & soul into it. Is there anyway you could make an addition on your home? A single level to accommodate you & Ben aging or aging parents? Land is nice but an excess amount could be a millstone around your neck. Something important to consider with aging is an easy access laundry room - not in basement or upstairs. An open bathroom and larger door frames & the halls throughout your home. We don’t want to envision ourselves in need however these are small things that will make a huge difference regardless. Just giving you some thought. Have a great week.

We sold that home and I still dream about it. We now reside in Florida and I just cannot get used to the style of homes down here!! I really liked the house you didn't bid on, but cried after it sold. House hunting is tough. I searched for over a year before getting our current property. We ended up building and are very happy, but if I was in your area, I think I would want a historic home.

Loved all the homes, but your own home is the best. Also, be careful, just an fyi, but it is illegal to put notes or letters in a mailbox, only processed US mail is allowed. I guess if someone wanted to, they could report it. I had no idea until my husband told me and of course, had to look it up for myself. I know I had been guilty of this as well. 🤔

Linda, you have got a really nice husband and a beautiful home. Maybe you can built on your property whats missing, like a barn? Unless you have bad neighbors. I can tell you from experience, building a new home is lots of stress. I have done both, renovated an old farmhouse and built a new home. Both homes were very stressy. There was no difference. I love and watch everything you post. You always inspire me 🌹

Enjoyed seeing and hearing about your adventure. I would agree that maybe you should just wait for the market to change. We also used the technique for our Daughter and Son in law to write a very nice letter and send it to homes they would be interested in. Our Daughter thought we were nuts and thought it was a waste of time. They received a call 2 weeks later from a nice gentleman who had been thinking of retiring to another state. He invited them to come to his home for dinner so they could discuss it. Our Daughter called us and told us she thought this man was crazy. Who invites you to dinner to see a home!! We told her be nice and go to dinner. Long story short they bought the house and fixed it up. Later when they outgrew the house they sold it for a nice profit. Yes, this is a true story. As for building ----have you seen the price of lumber right now? Yikes, I would vote against building right now. A 2x4 is now 7.99. Enjoy your beautiful home. Linda there is a house for sale in my neighborhood it’s been on the market for about a week or two. I live in Bear Path Hampton NH . The house is about 25 years old . Unfortunately there isn’t much privacy and some neighbors one in particular is very very nosy. I loved this video. Good luck house hunting.

I’d love to hear about your experiences with residual energy and residents of old homes

I've had a new home built from the land up, I prefer older homes that have more character and some history behind them. Mainly because I am drawn to older furniture, pictures, nic nacs, and older furniture to me doesn't go well in a new home. The homes you go and see are far more interesting than the newer homes built.

Just as a little hint on looking for a home. Stairs isn't going to work for most as one ages, and only gets older and physical limitations are inevitable. Keep that in mind when doing your search! 😘 Blessings, Washington State 🇺🇸

We sold our house around 2 months ago. It sold the first day that it was on the market. We were in a panic as we drove throughout the state looking for our next home. The house we found was the very last one we looked at and we really thought we would not like the location. However that proved to be wrong. As soon as we pulled up under the very tall carport we fell in love. The house had issues which we continue to work on but we feel this is truly home. We knew we were where we should be when we realized that we did not miss the other house at all. Upon moving in we felt we had spent a lifetime here. For now it’s one project after another. But we are slowly making it all ours.

Linda, I think you and Ben should build! You have such an eye for design that building your own home would be exactly what you want. Yes, it can be stressful but so rewarding in the end. I have done this once and I would do it again in a heart beat! If this is to be your forever home make it what you want and not have to redo what was done before. I know you have loved doing that but anyway, for what it’s worth I vote build your own home! You and Ben are still young enough that waiting a year or so is not that long in the grand scheme of things. Good luck to you both! Mandy from Tucson🌵
