Seestern just landed the best value diver! | S434 SeaQ Homage Full review | The Watcher 

I've bought three watches on your recommendation (Seig Flamma CW /Thorn Vintage/Seestern Sub) and just as I thought about the S434, this one drops. Done. Sold.

Unreal that Seestern is able to make an identical looking watch as Glashütte Original for 2 percent of the price. Unreal.

I bought this watch in the blue version with gold. One of the nicest Chinese watches I have bought so far (about 60). Better build quality than the San Martin and the price is quite a lot lower. Highly recommend, definitely worth the purchase.

I understand your take on having too many v2s or v3s too soon, but this also reflects how rapidly Sugess/Seestern and other Chinese manufacturers respond to feedback. It’s actually pretty impressive and the products tends to stabilize after v3. Lesson for us consumers is to hold off on the purchase a little bit. If we do buy the v1, it’s on us to take one for the team being early adopters.

Again Seestern… if you use the wave case back and sea star crown (big crown), I will buy this watch… like I did with the previous 4 models.

What I like even more is that there were a bunch of brands (I’ve never heard of them - Helbros, Andre Bouchard, Arnex, etc. in addition to Glashutte and Wolbrook) who used the exact same design back in the day. I wish this one had a solid caseback option, then it would be perfect. I don't like seeing the plain, ugly Seiko NH35 movement, especially on a diver. Great, thorough review, as usual.

I have the black and gold version as I thought this would go with more clothes and styles etc...The blue and gold is also stunning am sure. I can't believe how well this watch is made. All the edges are so smooth, the bezel and sapphire are seemless (almost too perfect if you want something slightly rugged but I have G-Shocks for that!). It is so smart and elegant and marries beauty with function. My bracelet/adjustment is perfect due to the glidelock (6.5inch wrists). I feel it's presence but don't feel weighed down. I even slept with this on my wrist last night and it didn't bother me (normally I use G-Shock 5610u or F105W as ultra light)...The crown is on the small side but I think this makes the watch more elegant, less tool like, which, alongside the sunburst dial, applied indexes and gold accents fits very well with a more dressy diver. I would totally recommend this watch to anyone who wants a smart diver of reasonable proportions for a smaller wrist (not a small watch though, for those of you with bigger wrists), with a noticeable dial and very good quality craftsmanship. I had comments from people at work straight away. I know it's not an original design of course but I am a nurse and don't have thousands to spend on watches. I am also waiting for a delivery of the Reverie diver in grey/silver (more like double the price of the Seestern), which I think will also be amazing apart from the bracelet apparently where the glidelock only work half of the way (?) due to too few links being able to fit into the clasp when tightening the bracelet. Sorry long comment but I have spent years searching for a diver you can actually wear comfortably on a small wrist and that doesn't cost huge amounts of money. Voila!

Outstanding review Zee. I purchased this watch for $165.8 + US tax for a total of $177.41, which I find absolutely incredible considering the specs and quality. I happen to really like the design / style of the watch and chose the blue dial. This is simply an incredible watch, could not be happier. I do agree with you that the crown should be a tad bigger. As for the bracelet, I have a 6.75in wrist so for me the number of links is perfect, but guys with larger wrists will need 1-2 more. I think Seestern should add these standard to the watch. Beautiful watch ⌚️. I fell in love when I saw the Original Glashutte, then I saw Walbrook made an homage to it, and I was waiting to see if an Ali brand would make it, and here it is. I believe I will place an order of the Blue and Gold varient for the next sell. I wish they would have options for better movements. Great review.

Absolutely agree with you about watch makers getting it right first time , why they don’t send samples to people like yourself or just a local panel of enthusiasts to pick up on things like a sticky clasp or too small crown before they release the watch . As you say nothing more annoying than , with Seestern a case in point , releasing the Sub 600t homage with the emasculated hour hand , luckily I have V3 . Thanks for the review.

Love this design and the Glasshutte is one of my grails. I just wish they'd branded it as Sugess as the font is closer to the one they use on the SeaQ

Great review as always! I really like Seestern watches. Great price value. I’m still on the honeymoon mood with their 62mas. But I would get an updated bracelet if they made one for it. I just put a ding on my bracelet doing basic house chores. I should have taken watch off. LOL

Just got the black and gold one today. Your review is spot on. Great watch. Extremely comfortable and your right. If my wrist was much bigger it wouldn’t have fit. Definitely need a few more links. So big wrist guys beware. Or ask Seestern to include some extras

I prefer their Sub600T homages, especially when they are only AUD160 on sale, that's just bonkers. I went the white dial with steel bezel, and its an absolute cracker, very tasteful. I think you are right about their Crown's, I did find the Crown a tad small, but it's certainly not a major issue.

I like the numbers even on the dial, nice change from the redone over done copy of Rolex sub dial. Refreshing and inexpensive hard to go wrong.

Thank you for your review. I really like your content overall. To whom it may interest: Glashütte is a compound of Glas (glass) and Hütte (hut), so the s and the h are pronounced separately, Glas-hütte. Glashütte translates to glassworks.

Good review, nice looking watch, I have a black/gold one on the way. One small, point, the pronunciation is Glas-Hooter (more or less), Germans don't pronounce SH like we do. There is already a V2, which addresses the crown issue. To be honest, that doesn't bother me. I have a Nodus Retrospect II and like it better than the III, so if I like a watch, I don't feel an overwhelming need to buy the 'latest' version or that it devalues the earlier ones.

San Martin does have a similar model and it was around $250 last I checked. It has a printed dial though.

They should change one thing on the black dial versions. A colour-matching date wheel would be perfect.

Seiko has made affordable alternatives to their higher priced watches for years. This seems only fair as not everyone can afford a watch for thousands of dollars. So, as reluctant as I am to buy Chinese, I am appreciative of companies such as Seestern for producing quality affordable alternatives to high priced, and sometimes inaccessible brands & models.

I think the possible lack of human testing as you say, warrants having version improvements. For example, I'm gonna wait to see the next version of this as I'd want a lumed date and bigger crown. I have their 62MAS with lumed date and it just adds symmetry to the dial, I don't see it as gimmicky, I really like it. Great review as always

I hope they release no date version of this. I'd snap one up. If it had like a beads of rice bracelet, like some of the '60s versions of this design, I wouldn't be able to resist.

They did well with the gilt edges on the black variant as I find black divers very flat/boring.

I really like this one and have the black and gold colourway in mind for the 11/11 Sale. Seeing as it has an NH35 inside, perhaps they could use a solid steel caseback instead of the see through and shave a little off the thickness? Thanks for the review. The crown is no problem if its your daily as its automatic

Looks amazing. The only question is - how sharp are the edges of the clasp and the lugs? This is the most annoying part of these cheap homages, but usually RU-vidrs are not mentioning it.

I like it and it’s not like I can drop 10k on a glashutte .

Your suggestion regarding a week or two week long test drive with a watch would also probably lessen the frequency of V2, V3, etc.. They would catch the QC issues before they sold the damn watch.

Im sorry, this watch needs a better movement. I get it price wise, its a work horse BUT its in every f. watch. Seiko is a big company, big fan base,but there are other movements. You cant compare a NH35to a pz5000 or a Miyota 9015. It a Glashütte homage, cmon Seestern. Put in a PT5000 or a Miyota 9015 or a st2130. Sell it for 200 and its a BANG.

Pronunciation is totally WRONG: SEESTERN isnt SEE-STERN, BUT more like SAAY-SHTERN (is german, not english) and Glashütte is no GLASHOOTTE, but more GLASS-HÜTTE 😎😎

This is the second video I've watched touting the incredible value in this watch. I'm just not seeing it...

Terrible looking branding... no logo.... just some ugly name...but they make nice watches lately also pricy.... price level of Pagani....and price of a Kamasu... dont know if I can fit another dive watch in my collection... have 24 divers already... but this one looks different to say the least...also in titanium for around 300 usd still prefer my Casio Duro... from Spain
