Mine hasn't left the wrist since I got it. Finishing and movement are just insane for the price. Mine is like -5 sec/day which i wasn't expecting at all. I've had factory sw200s with much worse regulation. I usually wear an skx007 but I am loving the smaller dimensions of this. Will def be buying another suguess. Maybe this same watch in a different colorway...its just that good.
Looks very impressive quality for sure, the finishing and printing are great. I like this colourway too, the black, silver and red do compliment each other. Love the lume too, again impressed they managed to lume the numerals on the sub-dials. Nicely done mate
That's a very good looking watch, it's a shame they didn't make it with a ladder style bracelet like the original zenith, that would be an instant buy for me.
Bought one and I love it, no date, sapphire and the swan neck, I've actually got it on a orange rally. The original bracelet is great, tho not as great as the Guy Ferre perforated one on the Zenith, it is not a strap monster tho, the excellent solid endlinks mean the lug holes are miles from the case and flat/thin straps look a bit silly. Also the 12 hr subdial is a bit silly, it should be 24 which wouldn't be difficult or expensive. The Panda dial is certainly the most accurate homage....but no one except us will care🤣 The power reserve is no where near stated, I've got a '63 as well and it took a bit of wear to coax them up to 30+
Not a great lover of chronos, but recently bought a Yema Yallygraf, and it's simply beautiful. Have to say, that Sugess looks very nice mate, and a good review
I bought a Yema meangraf super R70 and its the best vintage 70s chrono around and i have ALOT! This Sugess definitely looks promising and may pick one up but in the Zenith colours as im getting a Dan Henry 1945 next.
Thanks for a great review. You just saved me a couple of $. I hoped that the 12 hr register was part of the chronograph mechanism, but seeing that it's just for show, I'd rather by the PD 1701 moon Chrono in the next sale. But great video
Saw this Sugess Chrono as it came out and it bought me. Seeing it now even better I can see why I love this watch. The finisihing is on par with SM and or better than some old names. Hard to beat the value. Love that case style, suits that bracelet or a nice thick leather strap. I do not like that clasp on this watch it should be double pushers only with 4 micros. My true gripe is in the nature of the movement and that is the lack of hacking. Even the swan neck regulator can't beat that simple lever that stops the hair spring from moving.
Great review as usual 👏 This is a gorgeous watch. I have it in my basked at AliExpress but with the tricolor dial which more closely homage the Zenith chronograph - one of my grail watches. Let's see what the sale price wi be.... thank you again for sharing 👍
Really hope they make a V2 and sort the sub dial out at the 6hr mark. It serves no purpose at all. Such a pointless dial. They should've made it 24h at least.
The finishing on the case looks outstanding, as well as the bracelet. The subdial though, looks like a mistake : I like it from a design standpoint, but it should be a 24hours subdial. This one replicates the time displayed by the dial, come on Sugess ;) They could fix it on the next batches.
Got mine four weeks ago. Lovely looking watch. No wonder with this great copied design. Unfortunately after some issues with resetting the second hand because the start/stop pusher isn't getting out fully after engaging the next problem occurred. The watch stopped running after seven days of usage. I asked about what to do with the warranty claims. No reply from their WhatsApp number after getting read. Only a "thanks for your mail" four days ago was replied on my mail and no reply two days ago on the second mail. Now I tried to use the contact form which I never get replies from, no matter which company. Wish me luck! BTW The swan neck regulator is a joke and pointless with plus 20s per day. You don't not need any to adjust to that accuracy.
What is the diameter of the watch face? I assume the 37mm is the case. I really like the watch, but am a bit concerned it may be hard to read. Especially the tachymeter (which, honestly, would never be used for any accuracy....).
Why make a fake dial print for the 6 o’clock sub dial. Would have been better to make it a 24 hour hand or make it a functional hour indicator. It would be awesome if it could keep track of more than 30 minutes. I have a sugess pilots watch that is a different style and only has 2 sub dials, 30 minute and the running seconds hand. If I find myself needing a chronograph for its intended purpose I will wear my Tissot that has the 7750 in it. Has a 12 hour counter. Main reason I got the sugess was because of the display back and that beautiful movement.
Sugess is Sea-gull's way of selling their watches cheaper, to a wider market and still being able to sell the Sea-gull branded watches at a more premium price.
I love Sugess as a brand to be honest. They offer a lot of watch for the money. I prefer the way their logo looks to San Marten as well. A small but important aesthetic detail when comparing these Chinese brands, as the names have no history / cache anyway, so they should at least look good. The absolutely pointless 6 o'clock subdial really kills this one for me though, and a lack of hacking as well. I have two Sugess ST1901, and getting what amounts to basically another one, with an added pointless subdial on it, is really not appealing to me. It's too bad, because I want to get this watch based on looks and finishing quality alone. I truly hope Sugess offers a version 2 of this watch, with at least an ST1903 in it. Then we'd get a 24 hr subdial, slightly more functional IMO, and I'd definitely buy it! 😄
Even the Zenith Chronomaster of which this watch is a homage of doesn't hack. Personally on a 3 hand watch I must have a hacking second hand but on a chrono it doesn't seem to matter as much. I do agree with you about that useless third subdial though and wish they made a bicompax version, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
@@zahimiibrahim3602 Yes, good point on the non-hacking El Primero -- although if they were picking the non-hacking because it's accurate to the real thing, they should have also used a 36,000 VPH automatic movement 😁 I tend to see this as a cost-savings choice from Sugess, rather than anything else. However, you're right, it's not an essential feature, and I have plenty of non-hacking watches I still love. Their biggest problem with this watch is movement choice overall -- there's just no good options for an automatic tricompax at this price level IMO (except weird stuff like the Ingersoll 886), so unless people want quartz, or they want to make compromises like we're talking about, it will be hard to have a truly great El Primero homage.
Its not perfect, Sugess could and should have made the 6'oclock sub dial 24hrs (lets hope for an update in the next version) then it would have performed an additional function whereas currently its useless and there just for balance and to make it look more like the Zenith its aping. Its a great watch still though because its obviously well made and finished and where else can you get a column wheel mechanical chrono other than from the Chinese using the Seagull? As your viewers are well aware Japanese and Swiss made mechanical chronos cost £1000's!! Accepted there are a few compromises (strap clasp, 6'oclock sub dial and lack of hacking) but otherwise what you are getting is a pretty amazing watch for the money paid. Also don't forget the Seagull movement is based on the Swiss Venus movement so it has a decent pedigree and the El Primero wasnt hacking either.
It really sucks, I want to get a smaller mechanical watch, but every time I find a contender, something's 'off'. First the ugly star on the 38mm 1963's second hand, then the huge lug-to-lug on the breitling deus clone and now this one... I've looked at this watch many times already. I'm really tempted to buy it, but to me the bracelet and case color don't seem to match and it bothers me. I understand they are finished differently, but now it just looks like they just used a bracelet of another watch. In times where everybody wants some kind of prx style integrated bracelet, for me it's a deal breaker, even more than the useless sub dial.
Horrible Homage. The bracelet it's wrong. The 3 subdials are too close to the edge of the dial and the case edge at 6 and 12 it's thinner and not a straight line like it should be .
