Stunning watch. You would think Seestern would talk to someone before they put out a watch. I am getting a little tired of either having to wait for a version 2/3 or even worse, buying a version 1, and having them come out with a better version. Great review as always. This is definitely on my radar!’
Great review 👍. This is a fantastic looking watch already, but would be even better with your suggestions. I know it is Grand Seiko's fault, but 19mm lugs ☹️ credit to Seestern for including that nice strap though.
It's a great looking watch, but the only watch I had with an NH34 the GMT hand didn't align properly. I know longer wear homage watches, but if I did I would consider the cream version
This is a grail for me Zee. It was the one watch I'd probably borrow money to buy new ! But as they only made 900 of them, at $7,500 a pop ,they all sold out in a couple of weeks. I saw a used one with a scratch or two on Chrono 24 for $10,000 but I'd have had to sell all my watches and put the balance on the credit card and no way would I pay nearly $3,000 over retail. This Seestern is nowhere near the GS of course but it,certainly can scratch the itch for a watch that's virtually impossible to get. Excellent review !
I think you're referring to the Grand Seiko Heritage Hi-Beat Autumn Ltd Ed SBGH269G 39.5mm. That has similar dial to this Seestern, but the Seestern is really paying homage to the Grand Seiko GMT SBGJ273. But, you're right, the GS Autumn was limited edition of 900 only and is expensive (but beautiful).
I'm waiting for vers 2. I would love to get the sea star logo on the crown and brushed lugs. It would also be great if the polished part of the end link were flat like the rest of the bracelet. Seestern is my favorite Aliexepress watch brand, I own 6. A glide lock clasp would be amazing.
Thank you Zee. I have this watch on my wrist as we speak, and to be honest im very happy with it as is minus the clasp, which if there is a V2, i would just try to purchase the clasp or other suitable clasp.
I’d love to see them downscale to 37mm with this one. Grand Seiko isn’t small wrist friendly, and I’m afraid the male endlinks (despite being a visual necessity) wouldn’t help it stick to my 6 inch wrist.
Nice one! Red is amazing. See what they do with a different version. They should just have you on retainer to consult about designs. Though that may turn every watch into an mm300.
Hahah fair point! I get their designer going full photo copy on the watch design but they have watch market experience to know about brushing and clasp.
Replacing the yellow with gold GMT hand and the rotor to gold. Then it will by my one watch collectable. But probably not because they ALL look amazing.
A capped seconds hands would take this another step closer… The clasp is an odd choice, fingers crossed for a V2. And yeah brushed gold second hand! This yellow one looks cheaps to me…
It's a stunning looking watch which is very nearly ruined by the completely unnecessary date. I'm definitely not sick of GMTs; they're a huge breath of fresh air after the 3000 boring dive watches that release each year.
Bro I saw this in person last week (GS) at a local jewelry store. I made myself one and saved lots😂. Do you know the dial size of this seestern ? George
I enjoy GMT watches and I'm glad more affordable options are now available to us. However, if you don't like them, then you should stop reviewing them.
Something looks terribly cheap about the way the lettering looks. 🤔🤷🤦 Not sure if a different font would correct it or not, maybe it would be better if they put an applied starfish on the dial instead of the name.
too blingy, may be okay for some. The metal bracelet needs to go, quality leather strap fixes the looks and all other small nonsense. Lume, where is the lume?
Yes, it's a grail watch for me, but it's a limited edition that's extremely hard to find now unfortunately. I searched all the Seiko Salons and Boutiques in Turkey, Greece and Germany and even in Jakarta where I also go for work and they don't have it. They only made 900 of them so even if you have the money, around $7,500, you won't find a new one. I did see a used one with a couple of small scratches on Chrono 24 for almost $10,000, but the particular one was gone at the time. The Seestern could scratch the itch for a watch that's impossible to get new, or else pay $3,000 over retail to get one and only chumps do that.
I don't think that's for everybody. I'd have to save many years for the real GS watch, and I'd be so afraid to wear it that it would end up being a waste of money. Something like this could give me 95% enjoyment for 5% price. Still, I hope you are able to get a real one some day!
