No interest because I already have theses games on the atgames console (which plays and looks great) as well as the streets of rage collection on xbox one. Let me know when we see a Saturn or dreamcast collection
A list of games i'd love to see as DLC if they can ever obtain the rights: - Splatterhouse 2 & 3 - Sonic 3 and Knuckles - Contra Hard Corpse - Earthworm Jim - Rocket Knight Adventures - TMNT Hyperstone Heist - Ranger X - Quackshot - Castle of Illusion - Ecco the Dolphin - Pulse Man - The Atomic Robo-Kid - Ghostbusters
Carl Bloke Nah, they don't unfortunately. All these games were made by third party companies. The only ones I can think of that don't have an excuse for not making the cut are Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Ecco.
Too bad some really good games can't be included due to licensing issues. LIke SF2 SCE, MUSHA, Gaiares, The Punisher, Double Dragon (Accolade), Star Control, Herzog Zwei, all Thunderforce games, Dune 2, Aladdin, Cool Spot, TMNT: Hyperstone Heist, Contra Hard Corps, etc.
@martin medrano : I was referring to problems that the NES/Super Nintendo Classic mini didn''t have to face or faced minor ones. Konami's still in business, same with Capcom, Square Enix, etc. Not the same with some of the better games for the Genesis/MD, like Toaplan (Truxton/Tatsujin, FireShark, Grind Stormer, Wardner), Compile (Ghostbusters, Devil's Crush, MUSHA), Accolade (Double Dragon, Star Control), Westwood Studios (Thanks EA! Dune 2, Dungeosn and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun), Technosoft (All Thunderforce games, Herzog Zwei), Virgin Games (Cool Spot, Aladdin), Renovation (Gaiares, Arrow Flash, El Viento, Valis SYD, Valis, Valis 3), etc.
Nice video. I already pre-ordered the game for my PS4. My 10 year older brother used to have both a SNES and a Mega Drive (not genesis, because i am european :P) and i remember playing alot of sonic, revenge of shinobi, columns, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, etc. This really seems like the ultimate mega drive collection, with all these little side retro things and online multi player. It's going to be hella nice. :D
Wow. This is a crazy cool collection. All the extras and the filters. The kid room looked like my own room straight out of the 90s. Solid collection. I would actually rate this up there with Rare Replay as a collection. Thanks, RGT. I think I'm going to buy! I really wish the NES/SNES Classic were really just games and not mini-systems. Love your previews, RGT. I think previews are more important and informative than reviews... they show us what the games are so we can make out own decisions rather than the reviewer telling us what they think. Ristar was my jam, btw.
Thank you I missed a lot of these games as was never a Genesis player and as a Sony fan since Ps1 this review was divine for me to make the decision to get this. Thank you for your time to make an upload this and the depth of the review :)
Gorilla Jones right? How many times are Genesis games going to be released? I already own most of these games via Sonic's Genesis collection and games I already purchased on Xbox live arcade that are stuck on my Xbox 360!
That's definitely Virtua Fighter 2, as the first game was far more blocky and had no background. Great review, it looks like a sweet collection. I used to have a Megadrive back in the Nineties and the nostalgia is strong with this one.
The homescreen / interface alone makes it worth it to me XD haha That is really cool how they made it like all in a room with a classic console set up. I think thats neat
Hopefully they offer downloadable games to be added to your library. There's no many titles that are just missing, even SEGA published titles. Would be cool if you could unlock things, like different posters & figures you could place around inside your room & even new & different model TVS!
I was playing it a few minutes ago (the ps3 version) is ok i got it for 14, good games, never played the genesis/mega drive growing up so not my favorite games, altered beasts was cool tho
i absolutly love the interface. But i have to say, did anyone else look at the shelves that has all the games on it and instantly think "Theres room on that stelve for more games, maybe they will release more games as the year goes on as DLC additions "
Glad you mentioned Eternal Champs omission. It deserves to be in the collection. Is Revenge of Shinobi only a poster n the room and not actually playable? That would blow if they left out RofS.
Something I haven't seen mentioned much, is the fact that some games allow you to change which region you play. Any chance someone could look through the games and list off all the games that have the alternate region option, and what the regions are?
The frontend looks a lot like the Genesis/Megadrive collection already on Steam, right down to the games available . The main differences are this is one package instead of smaller, indivudual purchases and I doubt you can port in extra ROMs on the console versions. :)
Nero Bat Right......And I got that for $5, I'm not paying 30 dollars for ANOTHER collection when I can play them for free already on emulators and Sega Forever
@@johnnyclaimerhaddadin195 probably the same reason I am to see if it has better features and more games and the good ones on there is on the sonic collection and it has the arcade versions of games like altered beast as well and also I have it on xbox 360 and it's not compatible on xbox one that's the main reason I'm here if it had better games or arcade versions I would have got it but since it dont I think I'll just keep using my mega everdrive and emulators for the arcade games nice vid tho just think they could have did more with the game since every sega game and arcade game by sega from that time can fit on a 5g sd card and xbox games being up to 50g so this is kinda underwhelming
Honestly this is an improvement from the 360/Ps3 collection almost just because of the Treasure games (Alien Soldier, Dynamite Headdy and Gunstar), alongside Revenge of Shinobi and Bio Hazard Battle. Still missing some essential 3rd party classics though like the Thunderforce series, Musha, Castlevania B, Rocket Knight Adv etc. But overall this is a solid collection for once.
dude I'm with ya RGT on getting Sonic 2 bundled with my model 2 genesis! lol i was the happiest 8/9 year old ever when i got this for my birthday!! i was stocked! love Sega! Pre ordered this on the Xbox one myself!
TopShelfGaming better than me as far as the pack in game. I got the altered beast one but fortunately I got strider and Lakers vs celtics too 😂 for Christmas.
Ghost Trick Of course for SF2 & castlevania they need the license for those. But the lack of Sonic 3 & Knuckles really hurts it. Some say it's due to music copyright because MJ. Or maybe they cant get the lock on to work? which is strange because Mega Collection on GC got it right. That was 2002. Even the Xbox 360 Sonic ultimate collection lacked lock on but it still had Sonic 3 & Knuckles separately. EDIT- I almost forgot they changed the music for a few levels for the PC Version of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, IDK why they dont use those songs if music license is an issue?
But so what? Castlevania 4 and SF2 are on Snes classic so why can't this collection have C Bloodlines, Rocket Knight or SF Champ edition? There's also some other essential 3rd party games missing too. Like Musha and Thunderforce 3&4. Overall this isn't too bad though. Could be worst like the ps3/360 collection.
referral madness shyt it really isn't even considered illegal anymore, who's gonna waste their time knocking on your door for downloading a 30 year old videogame to your phone/PC?😂
It'd be cool if your virtual game shelf was tied to DLC and they released licenced games. I'd love to see McDonalds Treasure Land Adventure, Global Gladiators, all the kickass Disney games, General Chaos....the list goes on.
Hoping we can customize our room a bit more and "invite" friends over to our room.... Would be sooooo cool! A trip down memory lane. Having friends over to play Genesis (.... online...)
Cant believe they released in without Sonic 3 . Unforgivable. Sonic and Knuckles by itself ( as was in the 90s) could of been in the collection , I think Sega doesn’t have problems with that music. It would have been nice to have the ability to switch to the Christian Whitehead version of Sonic 1 and 2. It would have also been nice to have some Sega cd or 32x extra games unlockables.
Found Wonderboy and Golden Axe on this and just the sounds brought me right back...it was obscure. Waiting for my ps5 so thought I would go 16--Bit hahaha.
Well more than a year, though the interface itself is only about 2 now. I've had most of the games here via the Steam release for the better part of a decade.
I wish my PC was more powerful. For some reason, you can't run the games in modded form on a 32-bit processor without using the processor-hogging bedroom setting. I hope the Steam library is still compatible when I finally get around to getting a more powerful PC.
Great video. All this needed to be is Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection with Sonic3 and Knuckles and the new games they added and this would have been a "classic edition" level compilation. I can't bring myself to buy this without Sonic 3 and knuckles.
I wish they would add a border that made the screen look like one of the old console TV's as that would cover the 16x9 aspect and look very retro fun. Take it a step further and add different console TV styles.
No Afterburner, no Outrun, no Sega Rally, no Super Hangon, no Truxton, no Mortal Kombat 1,2,3, no Sonic 3, no Streetfighter games.. Could have been much better.. But still quite ok.
This is already out on Steam with online capabilities launching with the console versions, but the Steam version has Eternal Champions and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Switch version of this is probably the only version worth owning, if any version is worth it. Not going to boot my PC or PS4 Pro for these crappy games.
ben31uk yes I they still release Vita games. They are porting stardew valley to it for some unknown reason. I can only imagine the amount of slowdown that it's gonna have.
I bought Streets of Rage on steam a while back and it has that same setup with the TV and the Sega Genesis and you can reset it grab a cartridge and stick it in the Genesis and start playing, I really hope the Switch gets this I would love to play Street of rage on my Switch.
i'm sorry but i had to laugh only because. i thought sega would of brag there sega master system game's all back. only the sega mega drive collection that everyone one has i bet. if there ever was a full commodore c-64 ultimate collection that would go crazy. but everybody has most of these title's & arcade Shinobi from 1987 was extreme mode setting's & arcade wonder boy deluxe put that on there & many people would of been & gone & i bet you i would miss out on a hard copy of that one with many more arcade game's..................
Man, no After Burner, Hang-On, Outrun, Thunder Blade, Moonwalker, Sports Talk Football or Super Monaco GP? I mean damn, they were Sega developed classics.
Why should I get this collection if someone has the Sonic's Genesis Collection and Gunstar Heroes????? If it doesn't have Sonic 3/Knuckles, then why get this collection????
*TruceounD* Sonic 3 as well as Sonic 3 & Knuckles were included in the Sonic Mega Collection for PS2, GCN, and Xbox as well as Sonic Classic Collection for DS. Not sure why Sega decided to not included here though, maybe it had something to do with the lock-on feature they had problem implementing.
Good job this compilation is an extreme insult to the fans and to console players. I would buy the PC version on steam but I dont want to support this level of insult.
I'm looking forward to this game, but I wish they would have included Sonic 3 and some other obscure titles that have never been released in these collections.
Definitely needs Eternal Champions. That game was hard when I played it as a kid, but never gave up on it. Also, Kid Chameleon was so long that it gave me nightmares. Maybe it was because I played it with a friend and we spent way too much time trying to figure how to beat levels.
My Genesis came with Streets of Rage 2, and my parents got me Sonic 2 when I asked for Sonic. So I didn't own and play Sonic 1 until years later when it was part of the 6-Pak.
Nice video, I think this looks cool the way they've presented it, I would love it if you could change up the room and stuff. My biggest question to myself is: is it worth buying _another_ Sega collection when it is the same as all the others, and actually doesn't have a couple that the others have? Especially S3&K I mean I don't know what Sega are thinking but...maybe it's to bring nostalgia of their bad decisions from the 90s too...
A total of 897 game titles are known to have been released for the console and the always give the same game jut let us add or remove game to it so we can pick the games we want.
Virtua Fighter 2 is underrated. I have two copies for my Sega Saturn, have it on Xbox. And oh....I have a Virtua Fighter 2 arcade in my kitchen, haha. I wanna get a Pac-Man or Mario Bros. table arcade for a kitchen table.
I wish the Switch would get this game and all the games come unlocked. I played the Sega Genesis Classics game on the PlayStation 3 and they locked all the Phantasy Stars except for Phantasy Star 2 and made it really hard to unlock them. :(
I am looking forward to this, I have a countdown timer for this on my phone. Also on the same day 29th May we also see the launch of Street Fighter 2 collection (this is the UK and Europe release) Its funny that there's no Sonic 3 even though it was on the PS3 version. A good video RGT and it's nice that you got it early.
Dude kid chameleon is one of the best platformers ever. If u haven't played it then ur missing out, I didn't know what I was missing until I got the Genesis PS3 collection
They should do game exspansion packs I.E fighter pack so on adds the games to your shelf use this as a base for more titles, definitely picking this up.
