Yea! Probably because people realized that even though it includes "Street Fighter" II, you can't really play it. It's absurdly and ridiculously difficult to try to play it with a 3 button controller. (The AT GAMES version included TWO 6 button controllers!) Oh, and people have probably realized that (UNLIKE THE AT GAMES VERSION), you can NOT play SEGA GENESIS cartridges on it. SEGA screwed up again.

@Johnny B. Bad Except nintendo didn't invent the mini retro console. That would be Atari, who's Atari Flashback came out a decade before Nintendo put theirs out. The Atari Flashback 2 came out in 2005 and was brilliant. It could even be modded to play Atari cartridges with some internal surgery. (and the Flashback 1 and 2 were not made by @tGames like the rest of the Flashback line.

I was thinking the same thing. Also left out the terrible sound emulation on the flashback that was reported by many reviewers. And the infrared tech in those controllers dates back to the 80's. And if you lose line of sight, you lose control of your character.

He also didn't mention about how the Mode button can be used to quickly access the game menu in lieu of holding start for 5 seconds.

@@FishBeeProductions you will find it much improved to the 2017 version! You can identify it by the fake volume slider and it has a SD Card slot on it.

I have the 2018 version and can confirm that it is a totally different beast.

Did a bunch of research because I bought the first generation at games console it was horrible timing, sound, and graphics was off, but the new version I’ll give it a shot but going to wait for Boxing Day love the SD slot can also play virtue racing and sega CD cool I’m in 😁👍👌

tony, totally agree. I’ve downloaded a ton of Megadrive games to the SD card and the only glitch I’ve encountered is the sound is delayed by a split second on a handful of them. I’m more than happy with my £35 purchase 😀👍🏻

@@FishBeeProductions your welcome. Do u prefer the 6 button or 8 button sega genesis controllers from retrobit? I'm on the fence which one I want. 8 button gives you more usability and 6 button Is more nogistic. They are both the same price. I don't see myself using these controller other than sega genesis. Both can be used on the switch or anything using usb

Similar with me.. I have a 32inch SONY Trinitron CRT with a Retron 5, one original 3 button controller, one original 6 button controller, and just buy Genesis games on Ebay.lol I did have to get a mini though.lol

I bought the Atgames 2018 Legends console, applied the latest firmware update, and tested an SD card full of several Genesis roms I bought off Steam. Phantasy Star 4 worked fine. Monster World III work perfectly. Bare Knuckle III, a hacked fan translation download off Steamworks as a mod, ran well. Alien Soldier, European edition ran well, as did Alien Soldier 60fps hack. For the record, Steams official emulator does not run Alien Soldier well at all. Bad audio, distorted music, laggy gameplay. I noticed none of these problems in the Atgamea updated emulator. It was about as good an experience as using Kega Fusion. The only down side, is Legends does not support in game saves, forcing the reliance on save states for rpg's. The Genesis Flashback DOES support saves. It should enjoy the same updates as my system did, and run Genesis games at least as well, I'd imagine.

Also Eternal Champions and Biohazard was fine, ftr.

The 2018 flashback is actually really good. The menu is much easier to use than the previous version and the emulator is nearly as good as the mini. I actually think it’s a better deal.

Most of them aren’t even original releases on the sega genesis, at least the bonus games aren’t.

There are at least 45 Genesis/Mega Drive games, 15 Game Gear games, 15 Sega Master System games, and 10 garbage games. The only games on the AtGames that were not on the Mini were Alien Storm, Alien Soldier, Decap Attack, Vectorman 2, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D Blast, Streets of Rage 1 & 3, Flicky, Gain Ground, Golden Axe 2 & 3, Sword of Vermilion, Mortal Kombat 1, 2, & 3, Judge Dredd, Fatal Labyrinth, Shadow Dancer, Shining Force II, Columns III, Biohazard Battle, Bonanza Bros., Phantasy Star 2 & 3, Ecco 2 and Ecco Jr., Chakan: The Forever Man, Ristar, The Revenge of Shinobi, and ESWAT. The new model has the option to update the firmware, allowing you to play downloaded Roms via SD card. I have over a thousand available on mine currently!

But shit emulation though and my s10 can do emulation better then that shit

@@acwbit2368 I would agree as I have played my friends Sega Megadrive Mini and it had better emulation, however you could not play original cartridges with it or expand on the games.

Walter Sobchak. The Model 3 was very poor in terms of power. It was Sega’s answer to Nintendo’s Super Nintendo Jr. Like the Jr, lots of parts were taken out to get the console down to $99 with a game. Both consoles released when Nintendo 64, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn were all in full swing. They were released as cheaper alternatives to current gen consoles. The Jr typically was bundled with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island or Kirby: Super Star. The Model 3 was typically bundled with Sonic or Sonic 2. Cartridges these days are pretty pricey. I’d recommend getting a really cheap game like Sonic to see if it works. If it does, you can get a Krikkz Everdrive off EBay for $60. If you aren’t good with Roms, you can get an SD card off EBay for $20 that has the library of Genesis games, official and unofficial.

@@Deadsea_1993 yeah thanks so everdrive works without modd?? I'm very good with the rom thing as I have 800 or so mega and 350 I think SMS on this tablet but would much rather play on real hardware. Even if it's the Genesis 3. Could probably figure out how to transfer roms from my sd to the everdrive I'm sure. These emulator on screen buttons are unacceptable really hate them.

@Jose Moran he means the review might be questionable, what if one decides to go by that review because he or she is thinking about getting said product and end up disappointed by the product.

But there are some games that won´t play at all on the Flashback --Contra Hard Corps and Forgotten Worlds are two. And some other like Thunder Force III and Gaiares have serious sound problems.. I can´t remember the other games at this moment.
