In this video i talk about 5 things i hate about the Seiko sbdc061 baby Marinemaster 200m although i really love this watch it does have some flaws big and small...

The date is white to balance the mark in 9 o'clock.

Great video, in terms of the date wheel not being matched to the dial color. I actually like it when it comes to watches with the date at 3 o' clock. I think it kind of fills in the spot where you don't have an hour marker and makes the dial feel more like it's in symmetry. In any other case though, date at 4, 6, 4:30 etc. I want the date wheel's background to be color matched. Luckily I don't have any alignment problems on my SBDC065... they also give you a better box with the blue dial option. I think if they made sure the alignment was perfect, all models got a nice box and having a signed crown + maybe a ceramic bezel. It would be an even bigger hit than it already is!

Totally agree it would be a bigger hit if they fixed these small problems and it would t cost them a ton of money to make small improvements. I LOVE the sbdc065!! As for the date I think it's all what your into but yes it definitely is more balanced feel when the date replaces the 3 o'clock marker so color matching isn't 100% needed. But again it's all in the eye of the beholder..

You made good points. I also notice Seiko used Monster hands and SKX second hand on the 061. Which is ok on a 500-600 watch. Not so ok on an 800-1000 watch. The ceramic insert would have been nice too. Most of the QC issues w Seikos have cropped up in the last 5yrs. Seems like they stopped caring.

spot on. even with all those negatives, this would be a really good but not quite great watch at 500-600$. but at over 1000$, those things are simply unacceptable. not to mention that most microbrands (those who don't use Seiko movements, funnily enough) nowadays are also slimmer and thus more comfortable that said... with some good QC (c'mon Seiko, ask Toyota if you can't figure it out yourselves!!!), if this had a ceramic bezel, a better clasp and was either a touch smaller or had a better movement (f.e. the 6R35 that's the same but with 70h of power reserve), it would probably be in my collection even though it's a bit big for me. 2 more things i'd change, more due to personal preference, would be the hands (the same as the 300 MarineMaster, though obviously a tiny bit longer. even just the seconds hand would be enough...), and the date wheel i'd move at 6 (which Seiko will never do) that said... the bracelet can be "fixed" by buying one from Strapcode. and with the billions of mods out there, i'm sure a ceramic bezel insert could be found that fits this watch? of course, that doesn't actually fix the problems, as those are things that should be there from factory, and it makes an already overpriced watch even more expensive. at that price point i'd probably rather get a used previous gen Seamaster

Seiko lost my business due to poor QC. They also cut far too many corners, yet their watches are still over-priced. My last complaint would be Seikophiles. The fan-boys will accept anything from Seiko and rationalize any discrepancy, yet criticize other brands for the same thing. I just don't feel comfortable talking watches with them.

I agree with you on two issues only, though the baby marine master 200 is a very good watch but I would rather have a signed crown and better steel bracelet for divers, even if I have to pay 200 US $ more. Unfortunately, the quality control on Citizen watches and few Swiss made watches like Rado and Tissot in this range is better. Anyway, there is no doubt that this watch is almost perfect but with some fine tuning in this baby Marine Master, it will be a legendary watch in its range.

Hey Ahmad I very much agree with you and this video is less things I hate about the 061 and more of what I think could be better. Bc I don't hate the watch at all it's really one of my favorite watches to wear. Also I think the components of the watch are better than the companies you mentioned however the QC from Seiko needs more attention... I have the 2nd gen sumo im a huge fan of both I like the blumo case but the MM200 is slightly nicer case finish imo...

What size are your wrist? I’m a big dude and want a skx007 but I have size 8 wrist..would a 42mm work for me?

Hey I have an 8 inch wrist also the skx where is pretty much the same size as the SPDC061 because it's a little bit thicker so wear slightly larger. Therefore it wears similar to the 44mm sbdc. I love my seiko dive watches but the dive extensions sometimes dig in my wrist and I haven’t found a way to get rid of it without replacing the bracelet with a strapcode for around $80

That’s why I bought a Sumo in March instead of spending another $400 or more on this watch. With that said though I don’t think 🤔 your chapter ring is misaligned that bad . As far as your other gripes I say look at the positives of this watch . Again to me and just my opinion but to me the Seiko Sumo is a much better buy without a misaligned chapter ring or bezel. I love my Blumo and glad I got it instead of this watch you got . Try a Sumo you won’t regret it .

So the alpinist 017 has a signed crown Colour match date wheel(It’s black not green but close enough) for $ 400This watch is too pricey not to have more of the ‘goodies’... One Possible reason for holding back on the specs...The big brother of this watch is considerably more Expensive...If they match the specs no one is gonna buy that one!

Obviously Seiko doesn't care about QC, and they probably won't be concerned with this problem for the time being. I think it is because the Seikophiles defend the brand and continue to buy these disappointing watches.

I have an Orient Ray lines up perfect. Paid $150 for it. Not sure why Seiko can not seem to get this straight. Especially for an $800+ watch.

Exactly. We all keep complaining about the qc issues yet most of us still buy. If we all boycotted for a few months maybe they would fix the issues. Jesus my casio mdv106 watch has perfect alignment. $45.00 watch

@@WatchChris I think yours is ever so slightly misaligned and sometimes it might be the way the lume makers are applied other than the chapter ring. My chapter ring seems ever so slightly off at 12 almost impossible to see but when I check the 6 oclock lume marker it seems to be more off because it was glued more to the left side of the dial than center.

Oh gosh. Enough already with chapter ring anxiety! I have this watch and mine is perfect and looks spectacular. If you don't like the crown clasp date wheel bezel and box then don't buy it! Buy another brand. Stop whining.

Retails for $1100 but sells at $750. you seem to be whining about things that go for much higher priced watches. A fucking box? Seriously? You don't get an exotic box with a Seiko. The reason you get these little issues is because you aint paying $10,0000 for a rolex. You don't get Ferrari performance out of a Toyota. They cut corners to get to that price point. WTF dont people get that??? Is there a better quality watch that you can name at this price point???? I am listening......
