In this video I will share my first impressions of the SEIKO Prospex SPB077J1 also known as the Seiko Prospex 1968 Automatic Diver’s Modern Re-Interpretation SPB077. This is a very interesting automatic dive watch with a price point of about $1000. It has been inspired by the famous 6159 diver from 1968. This watch blew my mind. Let me know what you think.

Its a great watch tbh.. It wears smaller because if you measure the width of the bezel its aroiund 40.5mm-41mm. So it wears accordingly. It tends to look large in photo's, but on the wrist it wears totally normal size imho. Mine had been averaging +5 seconds accuracy per day out of the box in the first week of wear, but soon after it was averaging closer to +2secs per day.

A bit of advice man for your next review. You dont need to be in every shot! People are more interested in the watch than your head. A simple voice over will suffice.

to anyone reading this if you don't like the hands of the watch ( I didn't like them too) because they don't look like the original , they sell the 3 hand assembly of both aftermarket $29usd or original hands on ebay for about $120+usd. takes the watch another step closer to the original 👌

Hello, Is there a difference between SBDC061 and SPB077J1 watch ?? Does the watch has Case coating: Dia shield ?? thank you for the information

Hi there, not really a difference from my understanding. It has to do with the market it is aimed for. Case coating yes! Also check this article: www.gnomonwatches.com/prospex-200m-automatic-black-baby-mm-ref-sbdc061 “The SBDC061/63 are the “Japanese Domestic Model” equivalents of the international model SPB077/79. As the name implies, they are meant only for the Japanese market.”

Thought all of these were made in Japan, some just have a different model numbers depending on where they are sold

I agree with you! Absolutely love this watch. The dimensions on paper look absolutely intimidating for my small wrist. In practice it wears quite well 😁

Fair point sir. I have sold the SNZF17 for several reasons. It’s a great piece but I was looking for something different. My new purchase is huge indeed. But it wears somehow quite nice so far. Totally like it. I wouldn’t mind a smaller lug to lug distance and a narrower strap however ;)

Hi sir, my wrist now measures 16,5 cm = 6.5 inches. Hope this helps you figure out the size 😁

Thanks a lot! Will probably sell this one honestly. Fantastic watch. However I am saving for the Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue to alternate with the Seamaster Diver 300.
