Thank you for the informative review, sir! I have done more research over the course of the last month than I care to admit, as I am just now getting into automatic watches. You offered one of the most well produced reviews of this model. I intend to purchase it as my first automatic.
Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad that you find the video helpful. I would say the Samurai is a great choice for starting automatic watches. Just got to bear in mind it’s quite a big watch, so it may not hide under shirt cuffs and may weigh a lil’ bit heavier for daily wear. Enjoy your new watch when it comes!
Thank you for the review. I'm recently taking interest in vintage looking watches, dive watches and all. I've been looking around and hardly find one that doesn't break the bank for my first watch. Finally saw this other looking around for a few days. Simply love the clean 1 colour ceramic look, the waffle texture, the magnifier and the slightly rugged polishing. Matches my simple and vintage utilitarian style. What's best is that even a small wrist like mine would look good with this. Amazing! oh and it's the first time I'm learning about Sapphire crystals, went to read up after your review and it makes me want to get it even sooner!
Thanks for dropping by. I sure hope you get your new watch soon. Be sure to check out the various colourways on offer before taking the plunge. Congrats in advance.
Certainly does look a lot more dressy and smart with the gloss black dial. I think this is what the samurai as well as the king turtle version of the turtle should have been from the beginning. Nice to see the upgrades though.
I am buying a used piece with receipt and box with rubber straps but just expired warranty almost half the market price currently. I can’t resist as it looks brand new and the owner is a watch enthusiast. Thanks for the review. I just bought a sumo hulk and orient kamasu which I both enjoy. I need a black colored to use in formal occasions as the hulk is very catchy and the green burst dial kamasu is my beater together with a smart watch at work. 😂
I have two bezels I swap out on my sammy. One w a black ceramic (like the king), and the Pepsi (also in video).. but I faded out the Pepsi and it looks GOOD! Great video.
Thanks for dropping by. Glad you’re enjoying your new watch. It does seem like Seiko has “upgraded” their watches, so moving forward I would think new Samurais and Turtles will get the sapphire crystal/ceramic bezel with a higher price point. Still fun watches though.
Hey there, thanks for dropping by. I’m definitely not a fan of the cyclops, but surely there are fans of this feature. Good thing is, with Seiko lower-end models, you can mod if you’re really serious about getting the specs and look you want.
Nice video, clear and concise. I really like the Samurai but I recently picked up a Citizen BJ7111-51M Titanium for less than half the price making the Seiko difficult to justify. If only Citizen had made the bezel ceramic...
Nice work Andy! love your videos as it is extremely relevant to local watch enthusiasts. was choosing between the samurai and Orient M force. but eventually decided to go for Orient latest M- Force as it is Japan made and is more unique imo. but this video got me triggered to the King Samurai again. lol. Good job. would you do a review on the latest Orient M-Force please! look forward to your next vid buddy.
I bought the Black Dial.... Very good quality! Gonna match it with a FKM rubber strap. Ceramic bezel? Checked. Sapphire Crystal? Checked. ISO certified? Checked. Hackable? Checked. Manual winding? Checked. Robust movement? Checked. Crown that is easy to operate and good grip? Checked. Waffle dial / Hobnail / AP like? Checked. Manageable lug to lug? Checked. Bright lume? Checked. Date with cyclops? Checked. In-house movement? Checked. Fits 100% well on my 6.5 inch (16.5cm) wrist. Looks bulky but very comfy. It has the upgrades we are asking for: Sapphire crystal and Ceramic bezels. The bezel rotation feel is very solid, no back play. The crown is very easy to grip and operate. 4R35 means i do not need to worry about servicing costs as it is a workhorse movement. This is the only Samurai I would recommend.
@@AndyinSG yeah was hating the cyclops lens as well. Unless they add a frame around the date window, which I can forgo the cyclops, I say this cyclops added a nice touch. But yeah this is a first and it is understandable not many people like it.
looking great. I'm surprised that these are priced a little bit lower in SG as compared here in PH, maybe I'll have fun viewing (and hopefully shopping) watches in SG someday soon (after this pandemic). Good review! I currently own a black samurai (srpb51, just bought it a couple of weeks ago) and now, I'm really interested and curious about this king samurai 🤔
Thanks for dropping by. I think the prices for this one has stabilised here in SG so it’s better to buy here. This King Samurai, you’d imagine it’s very much like your 51 black samurai with the added sapphire and ceramic bezel. Either way, these Samurais are nice.
Question, would the king samurai crystal fit the basic samurai PADI? I would like to upgrade to this because of the magnifier date feature type crystal but I can't seem to find any after market sapphire with that magnifier!
You’re right, I think we haven’t seen any mod company selling these crystals. Perhaps can only go for orginal Seiko part for now. It will fit for sure. Same watch same dimensions.
Hi there, Thanks a lot for the video comparison between king samurai amd samurai. I want to buy one watch, but I feel like need ur opinion between samurai and king samurai. To be more specific: I'm stuck between: SRPE35k1 VS SRPF03k1 black dial stainless steel strap. The price difference is only 100dollars now. The king samurai price is only 500sg dollar in indonesia. Hence, lets put aside price, which one do you think better? The pros for the SRPF03k1 (old samurai) is, I feel like it looks more for younger (without the cyclops, dont really like it tho). However the new one seems looks more expensive and the most important thing has sapphire crystal and ceramic bazel, which make it much harder to be scrached (since im quite sloppy) Im 26 yo guy will use it for daily basis. This is going to become my first samurai and maybe only, sincr im not a collector. Only a normal user. Looking forward for your advise. Thanks a lot!
Hi Rakha, thanks for dropping by. I think the sapphire glass and ceramic bezel will help tremendously if you’re wearing the watch as a daily watch. So in your situation, I’d recommend you to go with the King Samurai versions.
The Price difference is quite a lot , trust you then I just order the K series asap . Just Love this model with Nato Strap. Thanks a lot for your reply .. Cheers
I don't understand why Seiko do not use sapphire crystal and ceramic bezels fitted as stock on all of there dive models if steeldive and San Martin and a few other Chinese watch manufacturers have all of those things fitted as standard they even use Seiko automatic movements but there watches cost less than a basic Seiko 5..🤔🇬🇧🇺🇦
I guess it’s all about the profits. If you sell several thousand of each model, even $1 is important. That said, I am still a big fan of the lower-tiered Seiko models.
The main reason why they put in a unicolor instead of bicolor is most probably because of the material. It is so difficult to produce bi-colored ceramic bezel. It's either one colored ceramic bezel, or bi-colored stainless steel bezel in this price range. CMIIW
