Seiko Prospex 1959 Alpinist Unboxing (SPB245) 

This watch is even better when you look at it in real life... It's retro style but feels modern in so many ways. It looks as good with a leather jacket as it does with a suit. The visual games that the dial causes depending on the light are so cool. This is such an unusual and unique watch

I can’t believe how beautiful that dial is. I knew this line would be great but that Green Dial may make me get one.

For years i thought about buying the alpinist with inner compass-bezel. Then this beauty was realeased and i knew that would be mine. I really like, that there are 3 alpinists out now. Everyone can get their favourite design now. I personally like this the most because of the 1959-design and the simple dial. The compass-version looks a little too busy and the other one feels like a reduced version of the compass-model.

I have mine for almost half a year and still love it, wear it nearly everyday (wear my Casio GMW-B5000 doing heavy jobs). My authorised dealership manage to get me a bracelet from SPB241/243 models which I keep it on making it wearable all year round plus I switch it back to its leather for dress occasions.

Thank you for letting us discover this magnificent Seiko with its impeccable finish. A little information: the thickness of the watch is due to the spring which guarantees 70 hours of power reserve, which is enormous in this price range.

Whoa! I didn't realize these were out already. I've been waiting to see some videos on this. The photos in the Hodinkee article made these look steller! I'm pretty surprised by the 19mm lug width and quite disappointed by the case shape actually. Would have loved the same case design like the SPB159. That profile was gorgeous! I will say though, the dial didn't disappoint. I absolutely love the indices and hands as well as that inside track. I'd love to see all three colorways in person. The cream dial looks cool too, but that green is stunning!

Beautiful watch, but yeah, not sure why they had to make it so thick. I guess 200m WR kind of explains it, but I think I would have preferred 100M with a sub 12mm case.

Like the compass versions more. Been liking the shark tooth black alpinist and the cream colored one.

Damn...I've been debating between this green and grey/brown dial SPB243. I have a green Seiko cocktail time, but wow.

I recognize your voice from microphone tests...just checked your links - sure enough. Cool. Mics and watches. Came here looking for what the green dial looks like for real (and not just photos). Looks great. Th atgreen is fantastic, but the case width...yikes. Now should I get the WA-251 or WA-47?

I would rather have seen the date wheel in black with white lettering. Not such a shock to the eye. What were they thinking with 19mm lugs. I'm a seiko person but they so often stuff up an otherwise good thing don't they? Love the green.

Hello. I can not believe that big X in the dial.......

I'm so sad that there is no AR under the sapphire glass, the reflection is so much (imagine under a direct sunny sky) :( The 19mm is also a bad point but not really. The green dial is gorgeous, even I will go for the black one or the cream one.

I keep on rewatching this. I have a question. Are the indices silver colored and the lume yellow or white? Also, I’m not really a strap swapping dude because I usually wear bracelets but I think this watch would look Insane on a black tropic strap. It would still look classy but be more sporty.

19mm lug width? Sigh, and I bought a couple of 20mm Eulit perlon straps for when I get mine when it’s released on August 6th. Ah well, guess I’ll order a couple more!
