Big thanks to my good friend Doug. These new “king” turtles are very good. My trusted source for Seiko AD is Mimo mimosjewelry.com Want to help the channel? 1. Join my Patreon -patreon.com/randomrob
The black one is definitely my favorite. Received my JDM one a week ago... it has perfect alignment and is running -2 seconds a day. It's my first turtle and I am thoroughly impressed with the watch. My Omega SMP hasn't seen any wrist time since this one came in.
Great video Rob. I have the blue dial King Seiko just like you and I love it. I put mine on a Strap Code jubilee bracelet and it looks fantastic. I’m very happy with my purchase.
I wasn't a big turtle fan until I got the one with the anthracite dial. I got it to use the dial in another Seiko, but, it grew on my and is now one of my favorite watches. It now sports the ceramic bezel insert from my King Turtle and a domed, beveled sapphire crystal from my SBDC053. An Uncle Seiko chocolate bar strap perfectly tops it off. BTW, I had the cyclops from my King Turtle removed.
I've got the black dial with bracelet, I had to change the bracelet as it was too heavy on wrist for a rubber strap, now it's really comfy on wrist and the right weight.
I’m waiting for the new SPB153 I think it’ll cost around £800 though. I saw this one in the shop the other day and it looked awesome. I’m also saving for the SPB121 I’m going to be speaking a lot of cash on Seiko this year (all things being well and all)
Hey Rob! Nice video. Have a question that you may be able to help me out with. I’m looking at purchasing one of these watches but came across some, like yours, that say Japan at the bottom, and others without Japan written on the bottom of the dial. Is one real vs fake? Or are some just made in Japan and others made elsewhere? Thank you!
Not 100% sure. I know not long after supply issues out of China area from the big sick, Seiko took production back to Japan. So maybe it’s just depending on build date.
Don't get the Cyclops as an "upgrade" it's really better to try and take attention away from the day display. Trust me mod to black day disc is the number 1 mod you can do to any seiko diver. Thanks Rob love your vids
Yeah, that's the main reason I flipped mine; a cyclops is not only way too 'fancy' a feature on a tool watch like the turtle, but, I personally don't think anything called 'cyclops' should be rectangular. I suppose I could have just had it removed, though. But, a cyclops on top of the cool waffle dial was a bit much.
To me the grenade green one is the one that everyone ended up wanting. The blue? No. Either solid black with the grenade pattern or the grenade green. And people aren’t calling it king turtle. That’s the official name.
Lyndon Durgan It looks good. I’m a bit disappointed with my Anthracite turtle on the Crafter Blue rubber strap after modding it with a coo edge bezel and sapphire bezel insert I am still looking....for the right bracelet/strap. As far as rubber straps the Seiko version looks better and is weigh more comfortable than Crafter Blue.
