@@jmn-5554exactly. That Ronald McDonald Power Rangers fake garbage. I think the news got it all wrong. Pepper spray is way more effective than that close range karate trash. Pepper spray creates better distance.
That’s until you come across a hard-core criminal that has been sprayed several times and is immune to it the problem with most of the pepper spray is on the market they do not alter or change the formula to make it better and hotter so they’re criminals get used to it that is why you got to choose your defense spray wisely
@@charlesnixjr the saber red company is the only ones that actually do change and modify their formula every so often guaranteeing that it is effective when it boils down to that that it is ineffective that is generally because the attacker typically Mexicans that eat habaneros or ghost peppers on a regular basis like it's nothing those are the ones that it does not affect but that's why if you're going to carry pepper spray you need to be carrying a gun pepper spray should be used between a harsh word and a gun as John Coreia says you got to protect your ASP @active self protection
@@charlesnixjr 'hardcore criminal' no hardcore criminal would let someone in the time it takes to ask them for their shit to take out pepper spray or even let themselves be a victim to the pepper spray when they've either killed or threatened to kill someone without batting an eye.
Giving the thief what they want doesn't always assure you won't get killed after, complying also goes wrong and that's why these criminals keep doing what they do
Pepper spray is a much better response than physical combat which Isaac has built his life on... which is probably why he is advocating against it. To me Isaac, you are doing the devils work.
I'm not a small guy at 6’3”. I was walking home from where the bus dropped me off at 1:30 am I had to walk 4 blocks from the bus drop off. I thought as I was walking I saw a figure or shadow of someone on a porch as I passed by. All of sudden a guy is walking beside me. He was trying to have small talk, but I was walking fast. He was about 6’0. He then asked for money which I said I had nothing to spare. Now, he must have had a knife because he jumped in front of me and said “No, you are giving me your money.” I carried pepper spray which I had my hands on all the time in my pocket. I without really thinking gave him a healthy spray and he screamed and said “ wtf” I just started running without any pursuit from him. I made it to my home. My uncle was a Cop he lived next door to us. He and my dad and I got into his car and we drove back to the area where we didn't see anyone. I couldn't remember the porch I saw him on. I write all this to say everyone has to be careful. I was a young guy with a towering physical presence. Yet, this thug was probably going to stab or whatever. Protect yourself. By the time the police get there you could be dead or seriously hurt.
Pepper spray is the most deescalating thing you can do other than verbally deescalation. 1. The person who was trying to attack keeps their ego or pride. Most likely when their emotion subsides they won't try to hunt you down. If you beat them up, they will want revenge. 2. Nobody gets seriously hurt.
That's the reason why I always check my expiration date while I buy pepper spray. I Always buy the most effective pepper spray. Close-range karate that I'm not a fan of. Pepper spray creates distance. So the news is saying the people to teach bullshido.💩
I think the news is smoking on drugs. What I supposed to do for a 300-pound guy using Bullshido? I weigh 135. I rather use pepper spray. And remember always check your expiration date, and by the most effective pepper spray.
What Isaac said is not true. There is the possibility that certain people won't be affected by the pain of the pepper spray, however if you get it in or near their eyes, they won't be able to keep their eyes open, no matter what. It's an involuntary reaction the body has and doesn't rely on pain.
If you can escape…do it. But pepper spray is highly effective, I also teach self defense and have never seen it not work. Beware that once sprayed it takes about 10 seconds to take effect…don’t keep spraying once you hit their face. Replace it every 2 years, don’t leave it in your car, it’s cheap…buy extra to spray a little to see how it works. Highly recommend POM brand.
This was the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. L report. OC spray is core part of any EDC setup. Your safety is up to you and you alone. Stay dangerous.
I think the news got it all wrong. Pepper spray creates distance. Karate is close-range and a waste of energy. And the most important thing always check your expiration date and look for the most effective pepper spray out there.
I recently poured draino in my toilet bowl didn't flush, came back an hour later forgot I had poured drain o, I sat on the toilet my sack dipped into the water in about a min I was on fire!! I burned a layer of skin off my sack
What is this guy even talking about? The better advice would be, train with your tools and be competent with them. Use what ever equalizer is at your disposal. OC, knife, firearm, etc. Remember “luck favors the prepared.”
I have used pepper spray twice and both time the perp got the hot sauce ,,I won he lost ,,end of story ..if he fights back he will do the asphalt challenge.
Oh my God the amount of false information this "instructor" spread in under 2 minutes... this guy shouldn't be allowed to teach self defense, he has zero clue. People like that are a danger to those who don't know better.
The primary means of self defense is escape. Even if the pepper spray doesn't work, if you are already running away by the time the attacker realizes they're okay, you still won. Do what you have to do and then get out of danger. Not everyone has time for classes or expiration dates. Just do what you can.
@1:42 I would never ever just roll over. This is America and we have the right to defend ourselves even though in the 21st century criminals have more rights then victims and in many cases criminals are let go and never punished, especially if it’s a blue state. As a combat veteran you will never catch me giving in to any attacker. I’ll die fighting before I just give some criminal my stuff. This is probably the worst story in the world. A huge portion of the time the criminal will still hurt you if you comply. Besides when people obey criminals they will continue to be criminals. The only way to stop a bully/criminal is to stand up to them. Maybe if America were to actually truly punish crime this wouldn’t be necessary.
Regarding 0:52, the expiration date on a pepper spray canister relates to the internal pressure of its propellant gas rather than the effectiveness of its irritant chemical known as Capsaicin. Training practice is important, because there are practice inert spray canisters that contain pressurized water rather than the irritant chemical. Trainees should practice at the recommended distance by spraying at the target area of the eyes, nose and mouth on the belligerent. However, be aware of the direction of the wind that could divert the aim or even blow back the pepper spray onto the user. If it is raining, then this could dilute the potency of pepper spray. Regarding 1:23, pepper spray could be less effective on assailants who are doped up on PCP, which is also known as Angel Dust. Regarding 1:41, Isaac Costley recommends his stupid advice of giving the criminals what they want which s is wrong, because assailants could turn out to be murderers, kidnappers, or rapists. The peculiar irony is that Isaac Costley is supposedly an instructor of self defense yet he recommends a defeatist attitude of submissiveness rather than training to develop self confidence to thwart adversity.
It is still an invaluable tool in defense of non-deadly force. Andrew Branca is a much better attorney for SelfDefense & much more knowledgable on this subject. There's good reason the police carry & employ it in escalation of force.
I KNOW! I keep telling people this but they just won't listen! I even gave 2 friends of mine pepper spray and they still won't carry it! I guess they will just have to learn the hard way. I choose to be prepared. I also have other weapons in addition to pepper spray just in case it's a very windy day that day.
OC should work on just about every mammal ever, humans are indeed mammals. I do hear birds are not phased by it, so you can throw red pepper in bird feeders to keep pests away.
Pepper spray works great even against an armed robber, but most pepper sprays are very weak and inneffective. The only brand i would trust is pom. Probably the best out there.
Don’t listen to this garbage, people work hard for what they have, and by giving into a robber or attacker you are saying please come rob me or assault me I’ll let you do it. If you carry keys, pepper spray, a flashlight, a pocket knife and a concealed carry pistol, “take classes and follow local laws” these items should be all you would ever need. But depending on the circumstances you always want to go less lethal if possible.
Horrible advice. No way should anyone go to this guy's classes. Perps put you in a position that you have to either fight or give up. If you give up, you are putting your life in the hands of a criminal.
Look always carry spray and dont show it or let it be known unless you have to. With that if you spray someone dont expect it to end the fight, be ready to throw down of you use it.
So if what exactly is he teaching in his self defense class if? Apparently just giving them what they want is his best advice so why would I need to go to any class he teaches? This guy is gaslighting people and so is this news story....
Training and replacing your spray is key. Also use Sabre red combined with CS or tear gas. When mixed with OC or pepper spray it increases the effectiveness by being a strong irritant on its own capable of incapacitation in different ways but it also makes the victim of spraying gasp or breathe deep. As you're getting sprayed this means you get a lungful of hot sauce so even if you're resistant it will hurt a LOT more. Always good to carry a second maybe smaller bottle too. And CCW for gun. Just in case.
There's too much dilution if you go for CS and dye. This has been mentioned quite often from other reviewers. You don't need a dye marker for police to identify. It just further dilutes the effectiveness. With CS, you just better hope and pray you don't spray on a windy day for blowback.
@@brett19890 I've used mostly the Sabre red with good results. Yes the splashback is unpleasant you have to take the wind into account but so far I've used it maybe a dozen times on dogs, never on people it's worked like a charm. I get it though it's unpleasant. You can't taste anything for a day and you're kind of itchy. Your whole family gets affected too after you get home but not that much. Not sure what is better really but on my bikes I have started to replace the cannisters as they expire with the Sabre stream for wind resistance accordingly. I still pack a can of the CS containing one on my person at all times though.
Used Pom with great success but I dislike the stream only delivery method of it. Cone/fogger Fox Labs 5.3 is the absolute juggernaut of instant effect, I just wish they made the cans with a pocket clip like Pom uses.
Never defend yourself! Just lay down and surrender! I like the spray but be ready with your concealed carry choice! 😮 Make sure your not in New York or some other shit hole state when you bear them arms!
Absolutely the worst advice given. OC is field proven to be about 85%-90% effective. It affects the TRPV1 receptors and is a physiological response. I prefer the OC/CS blended sprays that affect both TRPV1 and TRPA1 receptors. Way to take a positive sorry about the successful use of pepper spray and make it negative.
I really wish I should have stayed in karate now I mean it's better to try to defend yourself to be a victim because you be a victim and they're just going to beat you up and take everything that you have you got to start defending yourself and struggle who's boss be strong and try to become as powerful as you can and fight for those that need the most got to try to become strong instead of being a victim you got to try to stand up and not the back down even if it gets you killed in the end it's how you use your effective self-defense weapon and your Martial arts that count your way of life wants to change 😉👍
Such a dumb argument. Its like saying you shouldnt carry a pistol because a bad guy could be wearing body armor and shooting would only escalate...yeah thats the whooole point of trying to counter violence...escalating to assert YOUR dominance long enough to stop a threat or to temove yourself from that threat. How anyone can be an "expert" in self defense while arguing against this primary principle is an idiot.
I tried to find a video of someone taking some with no effect, I couldn’t find any videos. Some guy on PCP was partially resistant to it, but even he was phased for 30 seconds and was rubbing his eyes
