Self driving car!!!! Installing Comma two

My buddy Jared and I install the Comma Two in his 2020 Hyundai Sonata. This takes the lane control features of the car and enhances it to where it maintains control similar to a Tesla Autopilot. Being open source allows the company to gain data from all users to refine the software which is already amazing!

Automatic lane changes don't work below 45 mph, you were going 1 mph too slow. Try what you did at higher speed

Almost 8000 miles of driving on my Comma 2 hardware. For the lane change all you need is to be above 45, just a gentle nudge after checking the lane and signalling. One of the best features if you ask me.

Thanks for the video! Any tips on removing the panel behind the rear view mirror? Does it just pull right off?

Man it would have been nice if you could elaborate on “yanked and cranked” My fingers hurt but I still can’t get the big piece off :(

So funny, had the same problem with it not turning on when I installed mine as well. Got everything put all together nice, no power, wtf? did i break the cable USB by bending it too much? take the cable out, put back in, still not turning on. Take it all apart to check, put all back together and push the cable harder into the comma2 this time and boots up good this time.

Yeah that one connection seems finicky! but once you have it its gold!

At 15:31 there is a warning on the device 'check driver face visibility' . Seems like the rearview mirror is blocking the line of sight from the front camera on the device to the driver's face. Lowering the comma2 on the windshield might help.

You may be right! There are not a lot of instructions that come with it.. I'll ask my friend if it is still saying that. That point was the very first time we engaged it so it may be a safety thing just pointing it out to the driver?

@@PilotJon yea. That warning might be only for the first time. I was just a bit surprised that the driver monitoring was off.. have seen a bunch of videos where the monitoring works great.. but if it works fine now , awesome 😊

Man, I’d love to try this out. But i think my insurance and the police here wouldn’t like it as much, the websites clearly says this is only for development. I think Idaho is a little bit more free 8n this regard 😁

Still with the 3d printed housings? I have 4 3d printers, love them, however for a production product (assuming it is) is this how they ship?>

This is it for now- its all open source due to regulation stuff I'm sure.... fantastic product really- the 3D printing doesn't bother me much... but noticeable yes

so I see you guys are wearing coats and I thought I saw the temp was 40 degrees out during the install - did you have any trouble with the mount adhering to the windshield during or since that installation?

It was cold! Comma sends a cleaning wipe with the install kit. After wiping the window attachment area, the unit stuck very well and easily.

I just got my 2021 sonata hybrid. Wish this was compatible with it. They're such similar vehicles the hybrid and regular sonata but I have very little to no knowledge to program.

The 2020 Sonata already has the best lane centering systems in the industry. What does this add other than lane changes, which you have to check yourself before you can perform them anyway?

This system over rides the stock system and adds more power to the servos controlling the steering. The comma two system is always improving as you update it. This system will hold more turns better than the stock system without question.

Great question! There is no personal info that you input so I'd say there is no collection. You can choose to participate with sending data to and from Comma so they can improve the product. I believe that is just performance data though
