I love the fact that you washed the car even though copart are going to do it as part of the package. It just shows what pride you take in your work. What a great attitude to have
Hi dave great to see you back again, it was great to hear that rs cold start one last time, the weekends just haven't been the same without one of your videos, hopefully you'll have another one soon till then mate stay safe and well 👍👍👍
Thank you 👍🏻, Ah don’t worry about the RS, you can’t win them all (or at least that’s what I keep telling myself 😂). Yeah everything’s good, I missed doing videos a lot, so hopefully I’ll be back to weekly uploading 👍🏻
Good to see you back. Shame about the RS but I think categorised high end stuff is difficult to move on even if it's well repaired, there's still a stigma attached for that kind of performance car purchase and a worry it's been bodged. A shame really as I'm sure there are several out there that have had unrecorded damage repaired and you'd never know unless it's really badly repaired or you knew the car/owner. Think if you're wanting to make money rather than just saving significant cars you're going to have to go lower.
Thanks dude, it’s good to be back 😃. Yeah that’s very true, I’m always sus when I see “user unrecorded” on Copart cars lol. Tbh, as long as I break even on them I’m cool with it as I do it for content rather than to make money (on these cars anyway lol) hopefully I win on the VW when it’s all complete as I got it for a good price 😃👍🏻
I almost started to cry just reading the title, having been buying and repairing salvage for over 20 years the general consensus is that a private entry at Copart is either dodgy or fcuked, as such you generally get way less than it’s worth…..and then get absolutely reamed for fees by Copart. They definitely are not the place to sell a decent car and your much better getting a specialist performance car dealer to market it for you and take a commission / fee on the sale. That said I’m baffled as to why it didn’t sell, however what you also have to remember as well (without teaching ma granny to suck eggs) is that a repaired categorised / stolen recovered car is generally worth anywhere between a third and a quarter less than its equivalent unrecorded / straight car, and so many folk outwith the trade fall foul of this and end up paying over the odds for the salvage, and by the time it’s fixed they have spent the retail value of a straight car fixing up a recorded car. On this occasion though it’s just bad luck (and perhaps the wrong time of year) as that looked a decent car 👍🏻
Thanks dude! It’s definitely lesson learned lol, but I did buy it in the middle of lockdown when prices were crazy, and the dvla took so long to send me a v5 that I think the market disappeared while I was waiting 😂. That’s all handy info you said tho dude, I appreciate it👍🏻
@@DaveRebuilds the market at the moment is for small engined supermini’s as there is a massive demand from new drivers due to the backlog of driving tests. My eldest is in that position and I could have got a GTI easier and cheaper than what I paid for a 1.0 Polo, and trying to get a decent one is a mission as well as prices in Scotland are higher than most of the uk and the availability is less.
@@GG-im1cb yeah I noticed with how quick the little ST sold lol. That’s more super useful info, thanks dude, I appreciate it! Might go looking for a small car to rebuild next 😃👍🏻
Hi Steve, thank you! Yeah was a bit surprised it went for so little, but can’t win ‘em all 😂, yeah the GTR is fully painted now, hopefully will have it back before Xmas 👍🏻
Not saying I told you so buddy but when I seen that go threw auction originally I did say you payed over the odds and could not see a profit at the end of it, shame to see you take such a big hit on it thou dont let it dishearten you, only way forward is to keep spinning the money in more stock so you can recoup some back, have a great xmas and see you on the next vid bud
Lol, it’s ok, you can say it, I knew I’d paid over the odds for it as the market was bonkers when I bought it. Have no fear tho, this isn’t my first loss on a car, hasn’t disheartened me, I love it too much to quit 😃👍🏻
its good too have you back Dave.great content and a pity the RS didnt go as plan as you say win or you lose. on auto trader they are still holding good money think the cheapest is 26K mk2 stay safe and cant wait to see that GTR.
Thanks dude, it’s good to be back, I missed making content and chatting with you guys on a weekly basis 😃👍🏻, yeah win some lose some, just got to try and get a few winners in a row now to make it back 😂. Hopefully the GTR will be back before Xmas 🤞🏻, Christmas special? 🤔
Would you have not got more money selling through “we buy any car” ? Seems like you almost gave it away mate ? Enjoy your channel , keep up the good work 👍🏽😁
He did indeed, he loves going for a drive almost as much as my 7 year old does, and thankfully he didn’t fall asleep at any point 😂, which is always the worry as the little bugger never goes to bed on time if he does lol
Hi dave glad you back mate and a cracking video as always mate like I said in my messages make sure you don't open that package till Xmas day and thank you you know why mate I'm feeling loads better
@@richardsarcheryreviews I’m sure I will dude👍🏻. Yeah I’ve experienced a similar thing with doing too much all at the same time! Glad your doing better dude 😃👍🏻
@@DaveRebuilds so am I mate you want to see my van it hasn't seen a pressure washer in 5 weeks it's minging now I've got some energy back it's getting done this week
Ah don’t worry dude, it’s all part of the game and the adventure 😃👍🏻, yeah got my fingers crossed the van is a big win (assuming I don’t keep it and modify it lol)
These focus rs's are going for a pretty penny now, I've seen some excess of 35k which is crazy money, but worth it for something with a volvo PowerPlant 🤣
@@DaveRebuilds had to much of a iffy history that car. Stolen recovered but had a full body colour change and dodgy stamped vin number. I would of went back to copart when you bought it first time round, something definitely didn't add up with it.
@@Callumm45 yeah I should have when I found out that it had been resprayed, but unfortunately I didn’t find that out until months after when I eventually did my own HPI as it didn’t state that when I bid originally. Live and learn experience for sure 😂👍🏻
Shoot! Was looking at this on Copart and as it was the other end of the country didn't bid, didn't realise it was yours, wasn't this up for 24k? Bargain for someone.
Lol that’s a pity dude, it was an awesome car! Copart deliver cars that you buy if you want to buy one further afield than you are willing to travel 👍🏻. Yeah I was looking for anything over £20k but it didn’t quite turn out how I wanted 😂
Yeah I know dude, but it was a choice of either keep it and don’t have much free cash to keep buying new projects, or sell and just take what I could. Plus I was hoping to show the other side of Copart along with the risks associated with selling at an auction. It’s all part of the adventure 😃👍🏻
Copart has some very bad connotations which come with its name, cars like this really arnt bad, they're sorted 🤣 it's a greta tool to buy anythign for reletivly cheap, never really heard about selling a perfectly good car but they are On there
@@DaveRebuilds I know how you feel bro I was in that business for a few year sadly I didn't last lol the wife lol. Anyway m8 good to see ya back on YT be safe bro. Looking forward to the next vid 👍🏻
@@DaveRebuilds I'm very sure you will make it back👍🏻 it was extremely cheap at 20k but was always going to be a struggle at copart to get near that ,majority of copart members are looking for cheap projects to flip not already fixed ones 😉 glad the transporter starts now tho, looking forward to that build 👍🏻
@@Evilne555 yeah very true! Yeah I’ll hopefully have the transporter back this week, then it’s full steam ahead with getting it back on the road and looking mint 😃👍🏻
