I Failed at Selling my cars Through Copart *DISASTER* (LIVE AUCTION) FAIL 

Wouldn’t it be worth it to do what ever you have to do to sell your own cars as a dealer for what you lose on these cars

Copart is not the place to sell good cars, everyone buying there would suspect there's some hidden issues due to them not having damage. You yourself are hesitant when you see a car thats not damaged sitting on the lot... so if your going to take a chance on buying one. You would want to get it as cheap as possible because you don't go there to buy or sell perfectly good cars. JMHO good luck Randy

I'd would maybe try Bring A Trailer for the Aston and SEMA-Stang. Or, as another commenter suggested Mecum/Barrrett-Jackson for the Stang. I think the likely issue with getting more from a Copart auction is their buyers are typically looking for a vehicle where they can maximize a profit with a quick flip turnaround. Although, what you are willing to take for your vehicles is very reasonable. Most likely not too many Copart buyers looking for a vehicle they are going to keep and drive.

Understand that with what is happening in this country a lot of people are marshaling their finances closely because of uncertainty in the future.

Randy, try mods and miles, bring a trailer, or cars and bids. I’m pretty sure you’ll get better results there. Personally, I think that you should keep the Sema Stang and the Fleetwood, and let everything else go!

I am going to be 67 years old and have been in and out of the car business if you buy from copart or any salvage auction never put them back and expect to get your money back will never get close they have to sell on the street .everyone goes there for a deal like you and me. I feel sorry for you.

Few years ago I was just browsing RU-vid and I saw someone talking about all these vehicles in his yard, was addicted after that, thanks, love content like this.

The auction I work for brings more money than copart. We are a dealer only auction and do sell clean rebuilt and salvage title vehicles. Greater Atlanta Auto Auction. The auction house has a few locations all different names. The Aston Martin and semastang would do extremely well at ours.

Randy, I'm a wholesaler like you in CA, Copart and IAA not the place to sell your cars. Specially go app no way u can get anything out of it. Adesa and Manhiem and it has to be in line sale is the way to go.

I can't imagine selling anything good or relatively good on Copart. Buyer mentality is different

I wonder if the term “flood damage” is scaring people off? Without actually seeing a car it’s hard to tell what shape a car is in 🤷🏻‍♂️ Sometimes putting a ‘For Sale’ sign in the window and driving it in town might sell some. I sold a couple of cars driving them to the grocery store on a busy day.

Action fees are the killer!

You should sell these cars through the dealer auction, people would be less skeptical and pay more

Not knowing the ins and outs in Oklahoma but couldn't you find a retail dealer where you could put these on consignment? Copart seems more of a place to sell salvage I think.

I think your "buy it now" prices are more than fair Randy. I know you need the room but I'd stick to the prices you expect from them. There is nothing wrong with your collection either. You hand picked some real beauties. I'd so love to have that 1990 Caddie but Georgia law makes auction buying so complicated and won't let me purchase it.

I dont think selling prices are going to get any better this year with interest rates going up and up. Can you use them as trade ins next new car purchase ?

I think you are 100% right to stick to the asking prices (or real close to it) of the Aston Martin and the Sema Stang.

I am interested in the Cadillac Seville because of the beautiful Pearl White paint and the white leather interior. Consider you bought these cars when the car market was still high. Now things are bottoming out. Plus a lot of layoffs and a recession equals much less potential for profit.

I think for cars like the Aston Martin and the Mustang, you need to find another way to sell those. Folks buying on Copart are expecting cars with issues that they can buy cheap fix and flip, or parts cars. Maybe dealer auction, out of state sale, or call some of your personal car dealer contacts and see if their dealerships might be interested in purchasing them from you.

Kinda weird to think the cars did not sell as intended. It's tax season!!! Best time to sell! All but the Celica did well, must be the Toyota tax or something. Honestly, I'd try to relist the Jeep again. $5k or even 4500 is a fair price considering the tires alone aren't cheap AND it's a manual. If it was an auto, then there's justification in letting it go.

Nice to see the Celica is doing ok. I had a red one back in 2001. Loved it . Still a nice design more than 20 years later.

If you keep those cars running with the garage door closed, no need to worry about how much they're going to sell for, you'll never know.

Why not sell them all privately on marketplace, Craigslist.

Indiana allows up to 11 cars to be sold without a license. Each state allows some to be sold without a license. Sell the cars from the property you own in Indiana. Also consider finding a dealer to work with to sell the cars.

Maybe try selling the Semastang at Barret Jackson or Mercum auctions

I would have liked to buy the Seville but can’t buy on copart. You need to find a way to sell these to the public. You have lots of viewers who would like to buy these cars but 99.9% of viewers cannot buy on copart.

And I said before, you should take the SemaStang to one of the auction houses. The customers there are more likely to pay closer to what it's worth.

You may be right that they're not selling because they're a bit unusual; I really like unusual cars! However, I have too many cars now so I cannot buy any of these. Very sad isn't it.

I have always wondered why you don’t just push through and get your retail license. Been watching for years and ever since the fiasco with the blue building in ?dell city? It just seems with AAR headquarters you have the physical location and the rest of the stuff on the OK state application should fall right in place. You know you would do better financially. Even if there is some old felony you should be good to get it.

Do you ever see any second or third generation Honda Preludes? I love those cars and rarely see them available.

I honestly didn't expect you to make a profit on the 'Stang and the Martin at a salvage auction.. people most likely don't understand that the Mustang is special and the Martin doesn't really have any issues. Sports cars or "cars with history" should be sold at proper places/sites if you get what I mean. Unless you can't do that because of the law.

It seems like the $100 incremental increases is too little. Should extend the time somewhat & have the least incremental increases at $250 with max at $1000 or BIN button. Would make more sense, & those bin prices are good for a buyer's market.

Agree u could got alot more on 2011 SEMA Mustang , 01 Celica, 94 Fleetwood & Aston Martin. But to be fair Randy Jeep Wrangler is worth $3700 as is & probably 92 Cadillac Alanta worth $2500

Hey Randy, i think that you should try selling that SEMA Mustang on Doug DeMuro's Cars and Bids. I think it's a special enough car that it'll do good there. Just a thought. I don't know if you can sell it there because of your company or not tho.

Sometimes these older vehicles take a while to bring some decent money. I would try copart again to see if they do better for you. And I'll say this again. Consider keeping that Fleetwood. That car is the last of it's kind.

Anything that’s not insurance or donation does not bring the right money on Copart. Perhaps you can find a retail dealer that will sell your cars on consignment, so you don’t have to deal with the headaches of dealing with the public but can get retail money for the cars.

Wish I had the money for the caddy didn't know exactly where your town is till seen it on a map just south of county I live in.

The offsite sale is hurting you - it adds risk. You should have brought them to the auction and sold some of these at a non-salvage auction such as Manheim or Adesa, since their condition and value is higher than most at Copart or IAA. You cannot expect full value when sold offsite, especially an offsite listing that is not even a Copart sub-lot. The optics of the vehicles sitting on your grass probably deterred buyers. Wouldn't you be less interested if you couldn't go and walk around the vehicle and found out it was at an individual's property?

Honest Q: Do you think you're missing on some bids because they are offsite and not available for inspection? So many people preach about inspecting before bidding. Sure you've got a large following here that can see the work you've done, but still I feel a fraction of Copart's audience.

Randy, I don’t know as I have never tried to sell my cars through a Auction service. I have only sold privately. If I were you, I would try other auction sites and see what they bring . Good luck 👍.

Randy you need to put the semi Stang in a good auction like Barrett Jackson Thay have auction,s all over the country and it might surprise you as how much it will bring and the Austin Martin as well that Mustang might get up to a 100 grand or more same as the other one I watch there auction site and those cars bring a premium all the time Charlie kretschmar

In my opinion Copart is a great place to buy cars, not so much for selling. They now require members pay to join and they restrict what cars you can bid on without a dealers license. Perhaps Autotrader, Ebay, or CL would be a better option.

Randy everyone of those cars should have brought more. I cannot beleive the mustang and the Aston did not sell right. Both are sweet hold on to them till you get your money. I Love the Aston.

Clean title cars don’t bring great numbers on Copart . Maybe IAA might do better . But you would have better shot on ACV or backlots, manheim

Hey Randy, from one of your biggest fans! No way should you be losing money on these cars! I don’t think the copart auction is. At all the venue to Sell your cars at a reasonable price! I don’t know about your restrictions, but I would absolutely love to see you sell them to an individual would love and appreciate them! And also would be great to see a video of these people that are buying them, and if possible follow up! That being said, I hate to see the Mustang and the Allante going down the road! One of them would’ve been a great power to her car!

Randy, bad day for selling anything! Banks are failing all over the world. People are terrified to part with their money right now with all the uncertainty. I’d wait until there haven’t been any more bank crashes all over the news for a couple of weeks.

I have been saying for years you need to find a better place to sell your “green” light, higher end cars. Copart is not the place, clean title @ copart means issues to most dealers.

Selling good working vehicles through copart is probably a bad idea. As a buyer you must assume that cars at salvage auctions have major problems. Therefore no one will pay top dollar. Also the listings suck since there are no detailed descripion of the cars.

Is there not a better auction type selling platform for the sports/prestige? (I’m in the UK) something like bring a trailer? That I’ve seen other you tubers use? Surely they would bring a better price for you rather then copart Randy? Copart for me is more for crashed damaged or lower value motors. Shame you didn’t get more for them, least you get to enjoy them a bit longer, win win!!

A lot of people are moving their money out of banks right now as 3 banks failed a couple of days ago and are moving their money to treasuries in a brokerage account. Since the major banks seem secure right now people are also moving their money from smaller banks into the major banks.
