Keely Hodgkinson's PB is faster than Semenya's winning time here; she wouldn't have won, but she could have pushed her. Semenya has just two competitive 800m times that are faster than Hodgkinson's PB. Semenya has the 4th and 6th all-time fastest times (in the women's category), Hodgkinson has the 7th fastest (just one hundreth of a second slower).
The Semenya situation had been important story since 2010, but Americans didn't really care because it is international track and field. When it finally reached NCAA and women's sports, the public finally caught on to what is happening. Personally, I think this 2016 Final explains everything you need to know. They are XY and that is the end of the discussion.
Semenya, Niyonsaba and Wambui are all males with male-only DSDs. Not women with "high testosterone" or "female athletes with hyperandrogenism" as the press and sources like Wikipedia constantly say. All three of these athletes have been through male puberty. Semenya has XY 5-ARD and Wambui has said publicly he has the same condition. Males with 5-ARD can father children. They have fully functioning testes and all the sports advantages of a typical adult male who has been through male puberty.
Congrats to Semenya winning in 1:55.28. But the first male to run under 1:50 was Great Britain's Tommy Hampson in 1932, so these 3 guys are 5 secs behind what the best guys were doing nearly a century ago. They need to improve.
Dan Kweed in a million lifetimes you will never acheieve one zillionth of what any of those 3 African queens have achieved , you will remain a pathetic, racist, failure. Let this sink into your thick skull while you wallow in your miserable dead end life - all three of them have more money than you will ever have access to.
Semenya has INTERNAL TESTICLES. I was on the fence of this whole situation years ago but when these important details came out, I knew what my stand would be.
Evidently all three medalists have some sort of Y chromosome condition that elevates their testosterone. It’s not fair for them to compete with XX women. Higher testosterone gives a significant competitive advantage.
IT DOES NOT MATTER...JUST SHUT UP!! U have no idea what these women have gone through, they may have higher levels of testosterone in them, but they are still WOMEN.They have gone through labour and toil, through criticism and they are constantly being judged by ignorant people. They are the winners and they will be remembered! Not u!
Yeah key word Testorone no matter how hard these woman train these three quote on quote Women. Will always have an advantege , if you didnt know the reason people dope is to get more testorone
You can literally see it in the way they ran and the way their bodies look. These men have no business taking away medals and opportunities from women. I’m glad that World Athletics Federation has finally banned them after all these years.
Congrats to the three men who took gold, medal and bronze. Too bad the women who spent their entire lives preparing for this moment were robbed big time.
For context, all three of these athletes are intersex and as of 2019 changed regulations, can no longer compete under female classification in distances of 400m to a mile. "Two separate races" indeed.
This just goes to prove how stupid and ignorant you are to make such a comment. Disrespect for Caster and women in General. These country doesnt need idiots like you.
.I'm not trying to discount their skill at all. They are the best in the world in their event absolutely, but you can't deny the vast differences in body shape between the three winners and the rest of the competitors
Yes.. you know biological advantage is a thing.... Usain bolt is tall and has long legs and high muscle density compared to rest of the world, are you gonna take him out and say " Your body shape is not like the other men" Some are born with it and some aren't, deal with it
@@Junior-zf7yy Yes, biological advantage is a thing. That's why males compete with males and females compete with females. All Usain Bolt competitors are male like him.
@@Junior-zf7yy I wonder why you are giving opinions on women's sports. Junior doesn't sound like a female name. This is why I opened a champagne bottle when I was told that covid-19
@@dottordanco but are they women? And why do you bring racism to this your comment. If there was something to complain about, then whether there is sexism involved. No-one complained about their skin color
@@Celeritate7 I mean, what is it that you want them to understand. women can have xy chromosomes and still present themselves fully as women naturally by mutation of androgen receptors
@@von3689 a man (for example) may undergo a procedure, to remove his genitalia, and be in receipt of hormones, artificially, to appear, as far as possible, like a woman, his/her choice, and that is fine.. usually the transformation is not 100% convincing. This person, retains the X cromason. And retains the advantages of a man over a natural woman. (From a sporting, competitive, point of view) Bigger heart, lungs, muscular. ect. Hope this answers your question...
@@xD-zw6jn Caster has XY chromosomes and testes. Caster does not have a uterus or fallopian tubes. Caster’s testes produce natural testosterone levels in the typical male range. If it walks like a duck ….
@@tyttiMK you know, I realized that competitive sports had never really interested me. So in 2024, I can say that I don't care any more about what happens at the Olympics than what happens on viral TV talent search shows.
Glad the 800m will be competitive again this year. First place runner seriously looked like he was trying to not break the world record to avoid getting more attention.
It’s the women’s lol so it’s a she and the world record for this has been held for so long she was neve going to beat it. It’s the longest record held EVER
Stop!!!! Just stop! Whether you think they are girls or dudes (and they are dudes) please do not call them beautiful. I'm sure they are all great people. But good Lord! They won't be entering any beauty pageants anytime soon. I think I saw all three of them in "The Crying Game."
@@dottordanco Nope, they're men, you might call them trans women, but they're not actual women, and have a very different life experience than that of women.
No - all 3 have 46XY 5ARD- a DSD condition with internal testes producing male levels of testosterone and they went through male puberty. Yes,South Africa,Burundi and Kenyan doctors when they were growing up didnt have the knowledge/expertise & so they were brought up as girls. However when they didnt go through female puberty & got involved with elite athletics the doctors there would have known but there were no proper rules around it,so obviously it was in their and the country' s interest to compete in the female category. I feel sorry for these 3 people, because if they' d been born in a developed country they would have been brought up as males. But they should not be allowed to compete- 3 female athletes missed out on medals and 3 missed out on reaching an Olympic Final and 1 from South Africa,Burundi and Kenya missed out on becoming an Olympian. The integrity of women' s sport matters.
They are born females, not transgendered. The genitalia are female. However, they have conditions that mean they have more testosterone than most women.
@@nobuhleshoba8862 It's not her race, Nobuhle. It's her biology. She carries the XY (male) chromosome. She has no ovaries (the source of female hormones) or a uterus. She has interior testes, and testosterone levels much higher than what is in the range for women. I don't know about the other 2 women on the podium. Would we let Bruce Jenner compete as a woman if he had transitioned earlier, or even now? Unfortunately for Semenya, she can't scientifically be called male or female.
Jane Hill I’m happy to learn if you’d care to elucidate. Her anatomy is a matter of record. I’ve asked the question elsewhere because I’m curious exactly what about her is considered female? If you want to add to my knowledge, I’m happy to learn.
Yes, and doubtless the women pressured the IOC to change the rules so this travesty would not happen again. The media refuse to tell the truth of the SCANDAL of this event. The 4-6 finishers should get the medals retroactively they actually won.
That's crazy how 3 intersex got gold, silver, and bronze. Was it fair? Not really. I'm a man so i have no right to criticize whether to allow intersex to compete in women's competitions. I think this decision should be left to the women competing in the race. Not the women that are retired, but women like Melissa Bishop who would be directly affected by this. If they say it's okay, then let them compete.
@@TheGuyCalledX WR dont matter though a every athlete in the Olympics knows that. Medals are the most important. Thats awhy you cannot compare Jesse Owens and Usain Bolt. Both runner were the best runner of their generation. Jesse Owens set the Bar. Records will eventually be broken someday by some young kid but it will be difficult to break the 800 and 400m records for both men and women.
they are though.. if a man is born , but with characteristics of a woman ..are you gonna say they are a man ? 🤔 y’all just saying they not women because y’all think it’s not fair.. it ain’t fair to judge them & be fucked up all because of the way they were born .
Amira Brown maybe since they have testicles they should compete with other people that also have them. Ya know, since that gives a 13 second advantage.
@@amirabrown9643 I do not judge anyone, but when it is said that there are many genders, also these supposed women should compete in their category of peculiarities.
+Gino Cabilatazan it's just not fair to non Intersex competitors, no matter how hard they train the medalists have an absurd advantage with all of their testosterone boosts. This is the beginning of the end of women's athletics if more Intersex people are encouraged to compete
Dude you have to admit they all look like males. Maybe the other two are trans-women. If you think you are defending black women by taking this stance you are wrong. These three look nothing like black women so stop acting as if they are. Let me ask you this. Could you ever imagine f##king any of them?
Brilliant. Two idiots licking each others bottoms. Well done, guys. Our species is so enriched by your well-informed and thoughtful comments. Your Mothers must feel so proud of you.
Glen Small We don't lick bottoms because our mothers raised us with common sense, so yeah I'm sure they're proud that we know those are men and not denying whats the truth.
The fact that people are willing to feed into the pool of gendered misogyny and the idea that the way a WOMAN looks, in this case being reasonably androgynous, means she must be a man,all while sitting on a couch having accomplished nothing, just shows how sad the sexist sore losers can actually be.
caster semenya is a hermaphrodite, she has no ovaries, no womb, but internal testicles. she has 3 time testosterone as a average women. im not sexist but how can a normal women compete with someone with 3 times testosterone. easy win...
When will Semenya "man up" and break the World Record ? Semenya ran an easy 550m and runs 1:55:29 ? If Semenya takes it out quicker for the first 400, 1:52 will be easy.
She did attempt the world record this year on both the 800m and the 1000m. 800m she was really really close. She started very quickly and slowed down in the last few 200m
The three women all have male levels of testosterone and some have male appendages as a 2018 article points out, if any of these 3 want to compete in the next Olympics they will have to take allowable test reducer or compete in the male competition. The reason we made a female competition was to have women recognized in their own category, how can we support women if men who mentally feel they are women but possess more traits of a man compete against women who only possess women hormones and physiques. Since the Olympics are a physical competition we must meaure classes of athletics in the physical realm and ignore mental, emotional, and psychological factors. The same way we have events for the disabled in the Paralympics and that for the mentally incapable in the special Olympics, we judge everyone by their biological condition. Men are faster for reasons, such as natural testosterone and naturally leaner muscle. Women have advantages in some sports as their different bone structure allows them to be more flexible for gymnastics etc. The fact that we are not allow to classify sports because people feel offended is rediculous because in the end your offending more women who put in the hours to make up for their lack of natural ability, whether it's women using band substances against them, cutting corners, or carrying natural levels of testosterone, sports should be where the line is drawn, for this is where physical performance is measured, if they so need to relabel the men's and women's events by there test levels or what physical component that differentiates the two physiques, but don't allow women with a physical traits of a man to ruin women's competitive sports, remember men have had their chance to compete in sport long before women did. We have women the right they deserved, let's not take this away from women.
