I was born, white, in S. FL. in 1960. When I was little, our Dad took us out into the Glades. It's a special kind of love. I fell in love with the Seminole / Miccosukee culture and history. This song touches me deeply. God bless the Seminole and the Glades. Rob in GA.
I used to call my local country radio station to request this everyday. Somehow, the female DJ got my address and phone number and told me to come by her house ... which I came to find was literally nine or ten houses down the street from me. So I went by. She gave me a copy of this album to keep me from aggravating her. The squeaky wheel paid off ...

So true, what happened to having a local Radio station that would play songs from our country from 1950 through early 2000s. Some of the best music ever made. It is a shame that they are letting it slip away. Daisy, Ga.
As a Cherokee I'm honored that he honors my brothers the respect he gives for our people is real and it is felt and I'm pleased and glad to hear this song it's true and our struggle will never be in vain,Thank you John Amazing Song!
John is one of the most talented artists I have ever heard, his voice just fits the lyrics of this song and this instraments calaberation and storyline speaks volumes to our hearts held closely to the souls of those long ago,... John and his musical crew are highly valued in Country Music, I have respect for,...Thank you, Robert.... 😊 🇺🇸
David, I agree, he should have done this version years ago. That's why I love bluegrass music, it's just pure, clean, authentic roots music that stirs something in your soul.
Im a musician and I can assure you there are amplifiers and recording....Your observation is true in the sense that its great writing and very catchy without gimmicks
You know you are Country if this Song gets you Emotional!!!! Country Folks can Survive!!!! Amen Brother John, thank you and your Band for sharing!!!! Godspeed America.....
I'm about as non-country a listener as you can get (no offense meant; I actually do like some), but this song and artist get me right in the heart. This is as haunting and lovely as one could possibly want.
We did a prayer walk in the desert for peace and prosperity in this area and we also prayed for protection for the waters above ground and below the ground billions of dollars have been invested for the peace and prosperity and for the protection of the water above ground and below the ground it is wonderful what God has done
Please watch the video and remember this is still going on to Native Americans. .whether dry land or the wet lands, hills ,mountains, valleys..desert..Some day this earth will all be ash but Today let us enjoy what we all have been blessed to have..too much has been stolen taken, destroyed,.Damaged.PEACE to you all 💖
This song is on a whole other spiritual level. It is about the love of the Earth and nature in the south and the respect for the holiness of dwelling in the swamp. I grew up in the Everglades. I am old now and live on the Pacific Coast on the other side of the United States. I miss the south so much I cry. Seafood, fishing, friendly people, camps on the water, crawfish boils, Hog roasts, gumbo, alligator tail and turtle soup HOMESICK!!!
The more I hear this song, (and trust me I've heard it hundreds of times!), the more I appreciate it! It encompasses all of the elements of good, time-honored true country music! It is authentic in it's emotion and in its' evocation of the myriad of emotions of those who listen to it. The story is simple yet complex in it's message; a message that can transmit through generations to come. Wonderful!
I was a stagehand when John played October fest in Tuscaloosa. Alabama. Atlanta rytham wouldn't play because the weather was so bad. John played there were only 5 people left one in a wheelchair John had ice crystals in his beard. When he did Seminole wind it choked me up.
This literally brought tears to my eyes. I've forsaken my country roots too long for different women. I miss the swamp, I miss the woods, I miss my family. Not going to ignore it anymore. Thank you, John.
I'm 61 and have loved this song for many years. This is my favorite version! The beauty of the instruments and the truth of the words hit me slap in the heart. Thanks
I love the bluegrass nature of this version - it really strips it down to what it should be, standing out there in the Glades with a couple of banjos and a fiddle
THIS! Is real music, performed by real musicians in complete harmony with each other and their instruments! Should be a law! Everyone is wearing clothes, no crotch grabbers jumping each other....just saying....
"And blow, blow from the Okeechobee all the way up to Micanopy." Every time I drive down to Florida and pass Micanopy, I think about this song. I would aways stop in the town of Micanopy at an old book store. Then one day I stopped there and found out it was closed up. The old man who owned the book store had passed away. 😢
You will not be forgotten. I have been listening to you for a year . The person who made the comment below meant well . Your music is wonderful for generations to come . I am new to the party .
my favorite version. Lorraine adds depth to the vocals, and the fiddle and banjo are great. I lived in Florida a long time, and I have seen the paving over of paradise.
I live in Inverness but lived in south Florida for some years but from Upstate NY and Inverness is still kinda of country. Couldn't ever live in a crowded place again.
Lol, I also love Mr Anderson's grin in the beginning the second that fiddle started lashing out! It's almost like he was thinking... "Damn that boy is good!" 👍
As a Floridian this song means a lot to me . I have watched the Everglades destroyed , and it breaks my heart. Saw John in concert many years ago , the best concert ever
If this version of Seminole Wind was playin' on your car radio, I can "see" everyone leaning over to turn the volume UP!! Careful ya'll....eyes on the road! ;-)
I have to add the fact that Lorraine is a very proud looking all American woman. You can tell by her old fashion mannerisms as she sings. Great song and fantastic playing.
I'm totally shocked that some panty waist hasn't said "it's a violin". It could be a rubber band and that guy could still make it sound good. I love this version.
I met John Anderson in person in West Palm Beach , Florida back in 2001 , he invited my family and I inside his tour bus after his performance. What a down to earth person. Just awesome to listen to his stories and experiences and taking every day life and portraying in different songs. Always love to hear Seminole wind especially living in South Florida where the swamps are it puts you in the same mood as playing the song. God bless John Anderson
I've always said there's something in the water in Florida that produces exceptional artists like John Anderson , Tom Petty, Ronnie Van Zant and many others.
Why do people feel the need to say, disrespectfully; that they don't like Country music just before they say they like a Country song? It's rude. Just say you like the song, period...we don't need to hear your bias about the music that defines our culture as Southern people.
@@sherstone Are you some sort of butt hurt snow flake? I do have some Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash because it is good. Are you going to tell me you like all country music or most country music just because it is country music? I don't think I like most of any category of music, just the good stuff. I use to watch Hee Haw when it was on TV.
Thank you all for this updated version, you outdid yourself Mr. Anderson, not an easy thing to do with a true classic. Hauntingly vibrant and beautiful remake.
Remember when this guy made it, we were playing packman and Burt Reynolds was number one with Smokey and The Bandit. The Devil went down to Georgia and Hank was singing about all his friend.
@S Time and space have a relationship that some seem to manipulate. Point being, this is a gift that this man has and is still willing to share that with me, to make me happy, for free. In the world we live in, things like this are a gift, and I'm thankful.
My Babygirl loves this song. She’s 29 now, I used to sing to her she was little. She still loves it as much as I do. Love John. He always has an voice. Love the fiddle in this. Thank you for sharing this awesome video and God Bless 🙏🏽♥️🎻♥️
I used to conjure up Seminole Wind when I rode my Harley down the John Anderson Parkway on my way to Daytona Bike week. What a beautiful ride and an even better song.
Good fiddle on this. Real good fiddle. It brings a great aspect to this classic. I remember playing this over and over on the jukebox when I was on a big bender. Are you kidding me? Who does not like John Anderson? He is a 1954 model just like me and all of my old buddies.
