They actually weren't. They're pointless to you because you don't understand the tactics. They obviously know someone who has any bad intentions aren't going to just willingly tell you the truth. What they are doing is purposely asking the same redundant questions over and over to get his response. They arent expecting a different answer or the truth. They are recording the questioning. The questioning and tape will later be reviewed by intelligence agencies to see if they detected any signs if deciet by trained personnel. If they decide there is any inconsistency or signs of deceit, they will secretly watch him and investigate further. Nothing is always as it seems.
