If you're applying to a PhD program, it's crucial that you email your professor or principal investigator (PI) at the university to check whether they're accepting PhD students and if you'll be a good fit for the research lab. In this video, I discuss how you can write an email to professors to show off the most impressive (and relevant) research experience you have and, hopefully, elicit a response from them. In the fourth year, I have an option to take Btech honors with subjects ( 1.Distributed Algorithms 2.Transaction processing systems). Will this give an extra edge if applying for a master's in computer science or data science (more inclined to machine learning) directly after a bachelor's degree?

Hey Sachin! That was a really good video, I will be applying for Fall'22 PhD Admissions and this will surely help me a lot. I just had one thing to ask. Normally the professors provide their Institute email address, but almost 70-80% of the time, the emails that we send end up in their Spam Folder. How to avoid this type of situation?

Hi Amlan, it's unlikely that your email will end up in the spam folder unless you mass email. What usually happens is that profs get a TON of emails and they quickly scan each one and don't respond, or sometimes forget to respond. Hence, having the name of a student they know in the email, or even asking that student to convince the prof to consider you, is a good idea.

Sure, but profs don't really bother checking emails from MS students because they don't get a lot of say in the admissions process for master's.

Hey bro.. I just wanted to ask that in my passport after my name kumar is added and in my other certificate and degree certificate it's just my name not with kumar...So is there any issue during visa or admission procedure?

Just use your passport name everywhere across your applications. That's the most important.
