Sometimes I program my Behringer RD-8 directly from FL Studio's piano roll, and there's several reasons you may want to do this too.

You can record straight from the analog drum machine the Behringer RD-8 directly into fl studio with the line inputs, but for me the RD-8 tends to drift out of alignment, but when it’s clocked with Midi from fl studio it keeps it on time. Another benefit to incorporating midi is you don’t have to manually solo drum hits to do trackouts, you can just program those parts in.
Another benefit to connecting behringer rd8 to your computer with midi is that you can add individual swing to sounds, the RD-8 does have swing but the effect is global across all sounds.
I’m Willie Four Milli the guy with the Lofi, tap in to my channel if you like westcoast lofi glitchy stuff.
First I’m gonna plug a 5 pin midi cable into the Behringer RD-8’s “midi in” on the back, then plug a yellow unbalanced ts cable into the “BD” output that way i can at least track in the kick separately, then plug the red one in the “main mono” plug the main mono plug will be all the sounds that aren’t being routed out separately so in this case it will be everything except the kick, the main mono output will also have any effects added through the wave designer or analog filtering.
Next on the interface i’ll plug that midi cable into the interfaces “midi out” this way we are sending stuff out to the drum machines In, then i’ll plug the yellow cable into the left input and the red one into the right input. So that I remember i tell myself “left lellow” and “red right” so that i always plug them in the same way, otherwise if you have a template setup things may be reversed with all the low end cut from a kick. On the interface press “line” level so that it doesnt think its a microphone.
To minimize the noise floor from driving up the interfaces preamps, I will turn the master volume up all the way. With the machine on I’ll press settings and Midi and you’ll be able set the Midi in channel, i will double check that mines on 10, it can be any number as long as it matches what you put on fl studio. Now that it’s set for the right channel, the RD-8 still has to be put in midi mode, so make sure the syc is set to Midi.
Now onto FL Studio, i see my device shows up under settings and i will set it to 10 and select Send Master Sync. If you change the bpm on fl studio and press play and it updates the BPM on the RD-8 that’s a good sign that it’s synced. On the channel rack open up Midi out and select the TR-08 preset and select the Channel to 10 and Port to 10. If you click on the piano roll there wont be any sounds even if your interface is lighting up, so open up a mixer, in this case it’s 14 will be input 1 and 16 will be input 2. Now you may be able to hear some sounds being triggered and you can click in a pattern.
Let the pattern loop and adjust the gain knobs so they are at a good level. To record the beat you clicked in is easy, just arm 2 tracks with your inputs in this case 14 and 16 and hit record. Now that this is setup you can add your favorite plugin effects to the chain and save it as a template so you don’t have to do this craziness again.

when sending the piano note data from fl studio can you press record on the rd8 as a way to save those beats on the device?
