My 22 year old Sennie loves getting his beak groomed. A parrot’s beak grows much like a human finger nail and the beak can become flaky. I usually use my finger nail to gently pry the flakes off exposing the new beak underneath. My parrot absolutely LOVES this and I imagine it must feel really good for him as he holds still and waits for me to do this. I then discovered that he enjoys having his beak filed with the nail file afterwards and he gets a firm hold of my finger, resting the hook of his upper beak on there and letting me get to work with the file. There have been times where his eyes roll back in his head he’s enjoying it so much. If you try this with your parrot, keep to the lower 1/3 of the beak and stay away from the cuticle area as it’s very thin there.
