1. Standing heel to toe 2. Heel raises 10 times 3 3. Single leg stand for 20sec times 3 each side 4. Side step, 3 times to left and right 5. Pillow squats 3 times 10 6. Walk heel to toe like on a tight rope 7. Backward walking 8. Tapping on step 20 times on each side 9. Step over object, then step back. 20 times forward and back. 10. Stair step,step down and back up, 10 times each. Thank you 🙏🏼

Wow. Just WOW! After a sedentary year recovering from long Covid, I (at 79 years old) ended up with severe balance/equilibrium problems. I walked like a drunk, always with a feeling I was about to fall. Last week I began this program. The routine takes me about a half hour after breakfast each morning. After only one week I've had an extraordinary improvement. I think I'll be dedicating a half-hour each day to this exercise for the rest of my life. Thank you, Doug.

I can squat all the way down for 30 times, I can stand on one foot for over a minute, I've been doing it for months, you can do it, I'm 61

I fell and broke my knee. It took 6 months to get over. I have been having balance issues I think every thing got weak. I needed these thanks

14:18 I could only do the first four exercises. I just started Physical therapy after experiencing a TIA Stroke April 2023. So it's been ten months? I need to challenge myself ( not too much) I will be doing these exercises everyday with my weekly Physical therapy. So grateful that was led to this channel.😊😊😊

Did you realise what an amazing optical illusion your benchtop is? I thought the guy was holding onto a ledge. Then, after a while the camera angle must have changed slightly and I saw the bench top. Great exercises.

I am doing since a month. Total improvements in all areas. The first one and standing on one leg I can do for half minute without holding. Very good and simple , with loads of benefit exercises.

Good balance program doug. Very dynamic. Am a retired P.T. NYU 1981 graduate. I would add fast ambulation over smooth surfaces, progressing to rough and uneven surfaces with good reciprocal arm swing. I always use a gait belt when they first start on both types of surfaces. Step tempo emphasized at all times and would call out the tempo like a marching Sgt. in the military. I was a Capt. in the US Army. Worked at Walter Reed Army Hospital. I’m 72 and when I go for my walk my balance is terrible! I’m can’t do a straight line🤷🏼‍♂️ So thanks for this and I’ll start some walking ones also!

Thank you so much for this video, after just a short illness that caused non activity for a few months! I have severe inability to balance and need to hold on the something to walk I was given PT for 3 weeks after my release from the hospital which included 2 of these exercises. Your video explains so much more and has so many more for me to try. I had given up hope of EVER walking normally until now. You are so very much appreciated. Thank you 😊

I am in PT right now to work on my walking. Most of these exercises have been given to me to do. My balance was terrible when I started. Now it's much better. The exercises help if you put in the effort. Keep trying if you start, you will improve.

From reading the comments you are providing excellent training for loss of balance. I’m 76 but act like I’m 90, constantly looking for support to be stable. Your exercises have made a tremendous difference already. Thank you for sharing this valuable information with us. Dance lessons are still in the cards!!

These are the exercises I do in my kitchen when preparing meals. I tore a calf muscle one and a half years ago. Three months ago I finally could stand on my toes! I still go to Physio, and it’s nice to see improvement. I just started doing thirty three times a day. No pain. They look so simple compared to what I did before, but they do work. I was letting depressed and wanted to give up. I’m 73 years old.

I like the exercises and I am going to try them. I am 78 years old with Sciatica and weak joints I am not able to walk upright, I am using the crutches.

Thank you for this balance exercises. They were simple & easy to follow. I teach yoga & senior exercises the tutorial will be helpful. Understanding our balance is important. Engaging our core our centre is important in balancing. 👍

Thankyou for this video. It is exactly what I need. I have spinal stenosis in lumbar spine. 3 discs are wrecked. Also arthritis spurs. Rheumatologist says exercise cannot correct problem but as GP says, it will improve my position.

Thank you for this! I recently turned 70 and my balance is definitely not what it used to be T_T I will be doing these religiously! For the first exercise, I can't keep my arms at my side but lift them up and hold them out for added balance... hopefully I'll be able to stop that soon!

Thank You for for sharing these PT exercises. I had to take PT for 7 weeks and did really good but due to some health issues became weak again and I felt the need to do something to help improve my balance and walking on mu own. I was so glad your RU-vid channel came up on my tablet cause these were the exact exercises my Therapist was having me do before. So I'm definitely going to follow your instructions. Bye from Ohio🌹

So appreciate corroboration: I'm 78 teaching what I call "yoga-cise" and doing a version of 7 of your 10. It DOES work, so pleased to encounter your work. PS I began with Zen walking meditation years back. Thanks --for the 'tapping' onto a stepping stool exercise, and reminding me about stepping back and forth over an object. (I used to use a staircase --and it really DOES help balance.) Another I love? Walking mindfully along curbs, especially long stretches of them, where traffic doesn't interfere. Sta bene, everybody .
