Last Watch Mine runs very well at approximately +3 spd. Excellent for this widely used movement. Ref the stopped/restarting issue you’re probably right about picking it up restarting it. I’ve noticed mine restarts with very little handling. Must be a very efficient winding mechanism.

Great Review. I love that Steiny. Hopefully they'll do another run so I can fetch one. The 42 is probably too big for me. It resembles the Rolex 5517 that was issued to the Royal Navy Divers (SAS/SBS) after the Omega Seamaster 300 was replaced. I am not sure about the Precista PSR-82 but I think it is a homage to an actual issued watch by Precista from the early 80s by Timefactors who ones the name "Precista" since the early 2000s. Your Steinhart is well within COSC specs with +/- 2s/d! Great catch. Wear it in good health!

Hi & Thanks for the feedback, I’m still learning my trade and trying to get hands on. I have another review of a Glycine coming soon which has the same ETA movement as the OVM but hasn’t been finished to the same standard. I should also add that I spoke to Gnomon watches and they suggested another round of OVM 39s possibly in May, hope that helps

I got the Phoibus 007 b the ceramic bezel without the Octopus logo. This watch run's great. I have had it from almost a month. And I set it upon receiving it to my computer time. It is still spot on. Great deal on this Phoibus used on ebay as well. I paid $125.00 box and book's included. It was missing the Lume Pip. Which I have since Replaced. Bought one for 10 dollars on ebay and used a small dab of epoxy.. Looks Great. And even better the original owner never used the Bracelet. And I to have not either. It came on a Nato . I have since added a Bond Nato.

I have the 39 mm Pepsi on the bracelet, an excellent bracelet too BTW, and the 39 mm OVM on a blue NATO strap similar to the original MIL-SUB. So one is slightly more formal than the other. Lately, I've been wearing the Pepsi the most. My other Steinharts, a Ceramic GMT 42 mm and a PVD Ocean Forty-Four haven't been getting much wrist time.

Hi I got one off these from a Far East source new, good service and I love the look and feel, I have only worn it once for one week I have been keeping an eye on it and keeping it running excellent time keeper about plus 2 flat. However on Wednesday when I went to wind it and it felt very stiff and sounds like the rotor is slipping and is very difficult to screw crown back in though time keeping is ok. Rather than contact the supplier I took it in to a local repair shop this morning for an assessment and if the quote is reasonable will probably get them to fix it. I will take the hit on this. it’s a lot off hassle sending it back to the other side off the world. I got it in late September this year.

Last Watch so do i this last 6 months I spent a small fortune, I had saved up 6k to buy a non date sub, no luck, I had my eye on a Tudor pelagos for a cpl off years the AD had 3 in stock the normal in black and blue and a LHD version, I got that with a 2 hundred discount. I then got Hamilton khaki 38 auto which I put back into the dealer this week it has an issue with the rotor. I have an IWC mark 16 I’ve just had serviced at a cost off 440. I got 2 timex models a 34mm marlin & the Q timex and I’ve just got a Christopher ward trident diver and now the Steinhart playing up, but I do love the look and feel off it. I have a few other watches omega one is 76 years old I’ve had it for 46 years never been serviced fab time keeper I have a speedy 22 years never serviced runs at plus 1 min a day

I have looked and looked for steinhart vintage videos and never seem your come up in search. You may consider adding the Model to the Video Title. It will help your video come up in search when people look for reviews on the Vtg Steinhart. I really want the Red. But Got a deal on ebay for $300.00 for a ceramic 42mm model . It still has one year on the warranty. I just bought it on ebay two days ago and should have it by tomorrow or the 12th sept. I don't plan on keeping it. I figure in Nov I can make a little profit and then Buy the Vtg Red. Closest I can get to the Connery Bond Watch .

By the way I believe Gnomon is in Honkong. Because I was reading forums on tariff's. And someone here in the US stated if you order from Gnomon yes you pay $100.00 hundred dollars more. But You get it quick and you don't get charged the $20 or $25 dollars in Tax. Which ordering direct from steinhart you do as fedex charges it.

A friend ordered the OVM39 from Gnomon 2 years ago but felt it was two small for him. He did not wear it. I bought it, wound it properly initially and it kept perfect time for these days with continuous wear. On the 4th day it gained 3 minutes. then stopped altogether on the next day. All this with continuous active wear. This sequence was repeated several times. I don't like the idea of sending this very beautiful watch back to China for servicing, so it just sits in it's white box on my desk and I frown at it once in a while. I live in a small town where no jewelry shop has ever heard of a watch without a battery. I'll get it to the big city eventually. Not sure if it has an ETA 24/2 or a Selita movement. Oh well.

7:29 Steinhart don't build watches themselves. They are made in Switzerland for Steinhart by a company called "Palladium" who are a well established watch manufacturer. If Steinharts weren't made in Switzerland, it would be illegal for them to have "Swiss Made" on the dial. IIRC, the rules for "Swiss Made" are that the movement has to be a Swiss movement, the movement has to be cased in Switzerland and 60% of the cost of production of the watch have to be incurred in Switzerland. 9:50 The "extra pin" is a springbar with rounded ends .. it's there to snap into the holes in the safety-latch and thus hold it in place.

Hi! Stunning watch! I’ve been planning on buying the 42mm version Out of interest.. I am in the UK too, how much did the 39mm variant cost? I’ve found a UK supplier of the 42mm for £345 Also, only a really slight issue.. as much as I like the 39, do you not think the case back would be better with the typical engraving? Thanks man, great review !

Gary K I have a 7” wrist and wear watches between 38-45mm, given your wrist size you could wear both versions of this watch either the 39 or 42mm, it’s just personal preference. The guy I bought the 39 off thought it was to small for his wrist and opted for the 42, I ended up with the perfect watch
@garyk8285

Gnomon exclusive....... why? . Steinhart should sell this on their website . Steinhart really need a lesson in basic marketing . They produced a great new range of 39mm versions. However , the ceramic 39 and gmt both have shocking bezel inserts as you can’t read the numerals in most light. They need to inlay the bezels . That’s really lazy. And... instead of bringing out an Ovm and red sub in 39 mm they brought out stupid looking pink blue and white versions. This ovm is really nice and I would like one however and it’s a huge however Gnomon never never have any in stock what’s the point.

There's no such thing as minus or plus secs per day - if it is then your watch is screwed. You can get a loss over a year eg: Armani Quartz watches lose just 2 secs a year. I own several watches eg: Armani, Hugo Boss, Guess, a Lorus and Seconda - this will make your jaw drop open - my Lorus £50 from HSamuel, (a Company I worked for) matches the accuracy of my £230 Armani quartz. Infact the 10 watches I had in a lifetime never lost any time, and these are all low-end, non-luxury brands, so it proves you can get great quality at reasonable prices, if you know what you're doing - most don't have a clue, including practically every youtuber I've watched so far. Btw I worked for 2 Jewellery stores as a Manager.

Yes there is such a thing as plus/minus seconds per day. We are talking mechanical watches which are not as accurate as quartz watches, of which none are known to keep time to 2 secs per year. The most accurate quartz watches with temperature compensation are generally accurate to within 10 seconds per year a figure not found in an Armani watch which uses cheap Miyota movements accurate to around +/- 15 seconds per month. Even a new Rolex watch will be accurate to +/- 2 seconds per day. Steinhart watches once used an ETA 2824-2 Elabore movement which is accurate to +/- 7 seconds per day up to +/- 20 seconds per day. Today they use a cloned version made by Sellita called, I believe an SW 200. It must be pointed out that a reading on a timegrapher does not reflect real world figures as the watch is constantly changing positions when worn.
