I had the OVM MK2 that had various QC issues. I really loved the design and watch in general but I dumped it as I couldn't get past all of the problems that took the joy out of buying a new watch. Glad your worked out for you.

I have OVM 42 for almost a year and the watch never fails to amaze me he he. Thanks for the info on the lume. But I guess it still not a disappointment for me

I absolutely do not care about the lume on these watches. It changes nothing on how I feel about them either :)

Thanks Curt! I've been looking at the Steinhart Ocean One 39 in green ($404) for quite a while, I've seen many good reviews, but yours is the first long term update I've found. While it's great you've had no other problems, it was slightly concerning that "both" your respected but affordable Steinharts with ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200 movements would both have mechanical issues right away. But, at least they took care of you!

You know, it could have just been the most annoying coincidence. That kind of stuff happens to me more often than I'd like to admit :p. But yes, they made it right and have been great ever since!

Thanks, David! It seems I just had a bad case of allergies. Most of my watches are fade-aways but I have separation anxiety issues lol. At some point I need to sell off a lot of them ;/

Glad you like your 42mm OVM as much as I like mine! Like you, I have a smaller wrist and find silicone straps really locks it down into place while also feeling comfy! (Considered 39mm OVM too, but couldn’t part with the ole 42mm) Peace!!

My Ocean 39 came with the movement kinda gritty feeling/lots of resistance when winding, and then I can feel a "click" after winding it like 20 times or so. One of these days I'll send it back to them.

I have that skeletool in lime green. It’s used daily at work. It’s one of four Leatherman multitools and knives I have.

Pro tip for those (awesome) Barton elite silcone bands... slide off and remove the floating keeper and just use the one that has the notch in it. It makes putting them on so much easier and the notched keeper is truly all you need.

Great watches. I really want to add a 39 mm Steiny soon. I am definitely going to add a few Barton's silicone elites to a few watches. I have aTurtle in serious need of a new strap. The OEM bracelet is starting to get on my nerves. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Cheers.

Great video, thanks. Try your OMV on a good grey nato. I think it’s how it may have been issued and it looks amazing. The dial really pops.

my steinhart's bezel started spinning to both directions after I sent them the watch once for a repair because the bezel was stuck -___- (now im waiting for it to come back for the second time D: )

That is a hugely expensive thing. And by expensive, I mean super cheap! I use crumpled up tin foil, LED lights with different colored gels :)

Very nice. I have the Ocean 500 Titanium GMT, I really like it. The Barton’s are nice. I have them on some of my watches. Have you ever tried a Bonnetto Cinturini Strap. They would go good with most divers.

Kurt, why didn’t you opt for the Steinhart 39 OVM Radium Lume? Seems it would have been a better fit for your wrist. ( I have my eye on it for future purchase -my wrist similar size to yours)

minitwatch the very early ovm and the gnomon 39mm . But the larger maxi dial with plexi crystal is the bomb. Pull the trigger man. Love the channel. I got lots of Seiko’s incl some grand Seiko’s. The choc swirl being the latest. The dial on that thing is insane!!!!!

Maybe you got misluck with the lume because normally on the 39, it's Superluminova BGW9 and it's super shiny and stays perfectly readable all night long. At least, it's my experience with my 2 Ocean 39mm with BGW9 and all the 42 I had before (sold them all for 39mm version) I had the OVM 42 too but flipped it for the Gnomonomonnn 39mm version ;) Far better on my 6,75" wrist and more comfy. The lume was perfect on my 42 and still is on the 39. It's superluminova old radium. Just a question dude, do you live in the dark all day long ? :D Note : For two of my Ocean 39, I bought the jubilee from Steinhart. I recommend you to try one on your OO39 green :)

Trip down memory lane with the backwards Steinhart! Wouldn't say this is filler Curt, actually interesting to know. It put me off them a few years ago - the power of the mysterious RU-vid oracle struck. Maybe worth reconsideration. My peanut is educated.

I had the Steinhart OVM but sold it. What bothered me was the lack of AR. The reflections were horrible. It was also a bit on the big side. They should have made it a fraction smaller but keep 22mm lugs.

Did you get one that didn't come with AR coating? Mine is great! I do wish it was 40mm, though.

For example Rolex doesn't put AR on its glass, while Steinhart O1 is using AR coating and matt black dial, so it is hard to see the troubles with reflective surfaces, you are mentioning.

Through most of the rotation, the bezel on my ocean one 39 is really stiff and sticky, hard to turn. Wasn't always like this. Why could this be and what should I do?

It does seem to 'settle' as you said, after a short while it becomes stiff again... maybe I'll look more into the tools if this persists. I wouldn't want to scratch the watch case though

Interestingly, they both seem to wear about the same on your wrist. Lug to lug must be pretty comparable between the two. No-mahn, the G is silent. Love tracking my watches. 🤣

Happy Saturday Curt!! Bro I absolutely love that OVM, especially on a tan leather crocodile strap, you had that on a previous video and I started looking to cop it. Happy Saturday back! I'll have to go back and check what strap that was. I haven't been in the mindset of "what ifs" for a long time. I usually make things happen that I want to. One of my friend's quotes has stuck with me for years and it was "well, my lawn ain't gonna mow itself" and he went to go do it. That simple sentence had a big impact on me. And now, my back hurts. GREAT!

Come on Curt you should be able to spot a trap by now, women especially those that are hardcore workout enthusiast tend to have huge ego's and her staring at you is most likely a challenge! She is trying to be an alpha by giving the blank stare and seeing if you are brave enough to interact with her. She probably will just shoot you down because that pumps up her ego even more!
