What a lot of people seem to miss is that Ange prefers an all action no 8 for Sarr's position. That's why Sarr is perfect for it. Someone who can not only pass and tackle but run around all day harassing players. I dont think Gallagher is an upgrade in that regard
What the Athletic maybe don't understand is, we came for the football, stayed for the comedy. If you take that away and it just becomes another homogeneous football analysis channel, it loses it's inherent charm and uniqueness. And I really don't want to watch Football "let's talk about how our week went at the start of the podcast in a really wooden way to increase the familiarity with the audience" Daily.
Exactly how I feel, everything is getting homogeneous now, it's all a 'podcast' style. There are hundreds of other football analysis channels that have dudes sitting around a table with mics giving takes, which is fine but that's just it, it's fine. Very bland and everyone is doing it. Tifo wasn't though, it was unique and gave a reason to WATCH the video, every video now feels like it's made to be able to be listened to on your drive to work like a podcast. Very corporate boring now. What a shame
you know every episode of the show was also released as a podcast, right? there was very little lost in the audio only versions of the episodes and it's "corporate boring" because you think it's "designed to be listened to like a podcast"!? lol @@Klyptic
@@T.E.S.S. everyone's facial expressions reacting to joe and the pedri song graphics were definitely lost in the audio only version of the tifo podcast. 😂
The Athletic don't care what you or any of us want. They've killed a competitor in the market (Tifo) while bringing over some, maybe most, of its audience. Whatever happens, they win.
I think JJ feels the way you do , that’s why he said he likes sarr and was looking to fill that roll with Ferguson as more of a squad player than a new starter
Has the classic B2B playing style where he stays deep but just has amazing acceleration to get to the outskirts of the box to provide more pressure on the opponents.
From the moment they started describing their dribbly boi who gets the ball in the box I immediately thought "Savinho my boi". In an all-around amazing to watch Girona side this season, he stands out. And yeah, he has the perfect Postecoglou profile.
As much as I don’t like the rebrand (2 vids in a row I’ve almost missed) I’m glad to see that the boys are still seemingly doing their thing. The content is just as good as ever. Keep it up lads and let them keep it up
nope lol@@23lFrench hope we get Nico williams at LW though who'd be insane. Maybe Arsenal, or PSG competing with us, but think we have a chance. FFP baby!
As a Swede and a Djurgårdens IF and Spurs fan I would love to see them sign Lucas Bergvall as a midfielder. He is currently linked with United, Inter, Barca and Frankfurt, the latter two have already given bids for him. Might be biased but I think he could develop into a really solid 8 or 10, sort of like a younger Maddison that can progress the ball. Barca fans really like to compare him to De Jong, but maybe with a slightly better eye for goal. He is very elegant and with development I think he can be strong enough physically for the PL soon, he is quite tall at 186cm/6.1ft and only 17. I really hope Spurs scout him further and sign him! And like JJ said, its a good sign when the player does well in his domestic league and Internationally, he had his first Sweden cap a few weeks ago.
I think a very sensible squad depth transfer, allowing for Son to become a winger ocassionally, would be Joe Devine. You know, that big old Bayern Munich #9.
Martin Baturina is an interesting choice. Already part of the Croatian national team, seems to have the stamina and tempo to be a mix of an Ange 8/10. Spurs have had great success signing young Croatian players (Kranjcar, Corluka Modric)
I think Alfie Devine could be incorporated in the first team next season. Home grown quota could play a part in our decision making. If we qualify for the champs league then I’d like to see us try and poach Ollie Watkins… unlikely I know
I feel like spurs are like 5 players from having a great team. Nusa (as mentioned) and Calafiori (or someone of his profile: fast, strong, can play multiple position in the defense) are nobrainers for me. But I'd also love to add another winger of different profile in Goncalves or Kubo (there were links about Gil to Sociedad). And most definitely a new number 6/8. Vermeeren would be a class option.
Jaden philogene .. he can play on either wing, he’s direct and he can go outside or inside .. also provides attacking returns .. currently tearing up the championship
He's not a very progressive passer yet carries progressively and passes very creatively, both more than making up for it. His chance creation rate from dribbles is barmy, he converts well despite shooting from quite far out, looks good on either side, and gets through a ton of defensive work for a more attacking player... brilliant Is he a winger or inside forward type of wide man? He seems pretty two footed but plays mostly on the left?
Jota on loan is surely a shout for a winger who can go both in and out. Not wanted by Al Nassr because of their rules about foreign players, and has worked with him at Celtic. He is also a very hard working player in defence as well which is something that flies under the radar when discussing him. I imagine Ange would've went in for Daizen Maeda or Kyogo Furuhashi had they not signed 5 year deals at the start of the season, as they are both more or less built specifically for pressing high tempo teams.
there was a leak a while ago that ange had gone for one player over another as he felt one wanted to go to spurs while another was more interested in leaving there current club. My theory was it was about Brennan Johnson and Jota as his stay at ittihad hasnt gone very well so if it was about him i doubt he'll be joining spurs anytime soon but if im wrong and he does join I would be over the moon
first the news with pitchfork acquired by GQ and now tifo have been swallowed up by their faceless corporate overlords. the thing that attracted viewers in the first place was that it wasn't part of a big company and that freedom allowed it to be interesting and unique and thats what companies like gq and the athletic don't get, or they do and they just don't care cos they are making money either way
It's so depressing. Same happened to Football Daily and Sky, although I never particularly warmed to FD, doesn't have the same offbeat charm and sense of the absurd that Tifo had, but that's what made Tifo so unique. Most important thing is to stay angry I guess, hoping things might change. Or just sit back and watch everything you love wilt and die, either one.
Would love to see Aston Villa. Hard to read how Emery can do more with Villa but their form is wobbling recently, (normalising), so something is needed.
@@WaniZame My thoughts exactly, I loved the chemistry between him and Joe in the old podcast, but without the wonderful, offbeat, idiosyncratic space that podcast offered, I don't know if I care about football tactics enough to just listen to him for the sake of it.
@@alastairshaw2022Go and watch the 2019-2022 sensible transfers on Tifo main channel. It was way better with the animation and Jo's narration. This feels like a lecture which is not poved for obvious reasons.
Wide Player - Kvaratshkelia (Napoli not doing well this season means they are more willing to sell him) Midfielder - Palacios from Leverkusen. Aggressive ball winner but great against the press and can make good short, incisive passing. I do love Pedro Goncalves and wanted him to sign for Liverpool a few years ago but I’d not hate Liverpool taking Pote or Palacios and Spurs taking the other Wildcard - Pedro Neto. Creative force who can play on both wings and great on both feet. Wolves’ star man but they wouldn’t charge that much compared to other clubs for their star player.
I don't think Leverkusen will be looking to be sellers right now. They'd probably require a premium, and soon so they can go back in with that money to get better.
Kvaratshkelia isn't realistic for Spurs. Too expensive, and will be sought after by bigger clubs, offering more lucrative wages. I'm pretty sure Kvara (or his agent) has been fairly vocal about his intention to play for the likes of Madrid, Barca, City, Bayern, and he's likely capable of making that move this summer despite Napoli's struggles this season. (I'd personally love to see Kvara at Liverpool, although I doubt it will happen. Salah will need an heir in the next couple of years whether we like it or not).
I’d like to see Brighton next. They’ve had so much injury troubles at the wing and fullback positions it’d be interesting for you guys to decide which wonderkid from South America they will be signing next to fill in some of those holes.
I will add my love for Tifo - the analysis is good, but loved the style and as they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I think the choices were a mixture between predictability, which I understand why, and not quite the right fit. I always like to find out about new players who might not be on the radar and I think Savio was a good shout as I have only come across him recently. Regarding the profile for the CM, I understand the choices, especially Gallagher, but for me the choice of Pote misses one of the leading attributes Ange wants & that is strength and Athleticism. Gallagher is a good size, has the 5th or 6th most distance covered in the PL and is a true box to box midfielder. Whilst Pote is a consistently high performer and also has PL experience, he feels more advanced naturally and seems to lack more of the defensive side as well as being tiny enough to put in your pocket. My alternatives based on profile are Kone at Gladbach as the best natural fit, then Thuram at Nice who is in the last 18 months of his contract and whilst still raw, has some great attributes to build on as well as pedigree, size, athleticism. Ederson at Atalanta is another player that fits the criteria, but the main issue with all of these is that they are non-home grown, which may cause issues down the line and this is one of the major upsides on Gallagher, especially if Skipp eventually moves on.
Orkun kokcu … he’s an 8 also does well as a 10. Can play either side in midfield, long shot specialist, comfortable shooting with either foot, great set piece taker, and he’s also quite creative .. not so sure about his defensive output though.
I think we have a lot of players at wing right now. I agree with y'all's take on the midfield situation, but I think Kulusevski could step into that 8 very nicely. He likes to take shots from that position, and he has played there in the past. I also look at Scott McTominay as a really good fit. This system requires players to crash the box, and we've seen that he can do that. He's a tall figure, decent gaol scorer, and also aggressive out of position, I think he'd be great. I also wish Tanguy worked out for them. He has amazing skill with the ball and could be amazing, but maybe something changes.
If I’m being generous I’d say Jon has been told they need to promote Athletic rumours and articles. If I wasn’t I’d say he’s phoned it in. Either way this is riding of the previous quality Tifo brought which won’t last
Nusa comes with a good rep and potentially he'll be a great but if we don't get him, for an out and out winger, I'd go for Neto from Wolves ... unfortunately he'd now cost a fair quid so as an aside, congrats to Wolves for picking him up to begin with, because at 23 he's going to be stellar ... off topic to getting a winger, I haven't watched this lot before but I caught the mention of Neco Williams ... as a RB, RWB or if needs be a LB, LWB, with Ange and his team to coach and given the quality of players he'll have around him he'd be a great get ... if he was Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or whatever he'd be 30-40-50 mill ... Forest picked him up for 17 mill ... another trick Conte missed ... for a midfielder it has to be Alex Scott ... we've done great in the market these past couple of years (after some absolutely dismal gets over a decade) but he's another massive miss that should easily, given he's a lifelong Spurs fan, should have been ours
You spent so much time talking about the players already linked with the team that we barely got to hear/learn about the unique/lesser known players that could fit.... I miss the old tifo....
Does Eberechi Eze fit for the Number 8 profile you guys were talking about? I feel like he's an exciting talent and its high time he should move on Palace.
He's precisely the type of player that'll be more expensive then they're worth because Palace can't afford a like-for-like replacement. Like how Zaha was and JWP at Southampton
Truly not right Nusa is the player that looks good on statistics but in reality will not be a top top player at all wrong analysis imo I have seen him play in belgium live he is not at all good at dribbling have seen players with a lot more talent and potential than him.
JJ rocking a shirt looks about 10 years older😂 1-1 but Jon wins on a technicality for me. Nusa is a good shout, but Gallagher is inspired. One of those signings you'd never think about until someone like Jon says it and then it just makes so much sense.
I wrote an email to Levy about signing Kim Min Jae from Beijing Geoan in 2020... Anybody could have seen that guy was a generational talent even then. He was in talks with Spurs as well. hope the era of missing out on talent is over with these new signings.
That wand gesture thing with the words coming up on screen that JJ did. You should've had John do that too but not put the words on the screen or do the sound effect for him.
Spending 100m on Gyokeres seems foolish when he’s only played in the championship and Portuguese league. He’s not guaranteed to be an upgrade on Richarlison and for that kind of money, he needs to be. Too expensive for us.
Surely, with the sporting capacity and facilities at Tottenham, you would think that their academy will have a whole host of players who could be natured into the first team. Why is this not being prioritised? Young players are impressionable and have the capacity to adapt to any given managerial system. Instead of spending a large sum on somebody else's academy product, Levy would surely want to use what he has at his disposal - a youth academy. Since Levy is weary of spending for the sake of it, Tottenham's academy can integrate talent into the first team. I understand that sourcing such talent from an academy doesn't guarantee results, but, given the plethora of talent that has graduated from Spur's academy - the likes of Kane, Bale, Edwards, Skipp, etcetera - it's surely of greater value to Levy and the club to maximise their talent pool. Otherwise, an entire generation of footballers will migrate into the periphery, and into obscurity because vital talent wasn't sought after within their own ranks. Future Harry Kane's and Bale's are not gaining first-team minuets, thus their careers dissipate, spiralling into irrelevance at the foot of the EFL or lower.
We dont need anyone in midfield, honestly. Gallegher is only linked because Hojbjerg might leave. Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison has the potential to be the best midfield in the league. The missing puzzle piece is a LW or a ST that can contribute over 20 goals/assists a season alongside Son and Kulusexy.
I remember seeing a stat that Timo Werner actually had a top 5 EPL scoring record for goals per game when chelsea played him thru the middle, but he only got to play there during injury crises most of the time, always less than 10 games per year, from what I seen, Spurs will play him outside also. Gallagher is Jordan Henderson lite, to me he only works well if he plays as box to box in midfield 3, he is absolutely horrible as a single or double pivot player.
Stop making every transfer video about the Premier League; there are other leagues and clubs. It is getting dull. Try to discuss outside the (PL) box; otherwise, there will be barely any difference between this channel and others on RU-vid.
Kulusevski and Manor Solomon beat defenders most of the time Madders also drifts wide and beats defenders I hear what they saying but i don't 100 percent agree. Where depth is needed is replacing players who aren't really good on the ball Sessengon, Hojberg for Gallagher and Nusa Richy is on form but i still believe Son is a better 9 than him
It’s funny. Every rumor mill has Gallagher and Phillips as transfer targets for Tottenham. They are not sensible transfers, premier league centric choices and yet these guys can’t help themselves from mentioning them as great options. This feels like upside down world in comparison to Johan Lange’s strategy.
Think Ange will raid Celtic this season.. apparently he made a deal with celtic when he left that he wouldnt buy any of their players in his first yr at spurs. Think hatate, Oriley, maeda and Kyogo could all be looked at
Brentford might be a shout. There not quite at the level they were last year, and are probably gonna need a new man up top next year. Plus their small size/budget means are limited to look at lower league players who fit their playing styles. Be warned tho, the video probably wont get views
Do a team who dont have near unlimited money next. Do a team in a relegation scrap. Do ANYONE except a predictable top 6 side with more money than sense!
