Kinda reminds me of a story called "False Child" or "Uso no Kodomo", it's somewhat similar. Minor Spoilers: It's about a tanuki transforming into the appearance of a child to "get revenge on humans", but the child the tanuki took the appearance of had passed away a little while ago. She (the tanuki) meets a bunch of characters who know/are related to the deceased child, and although they figure out her secret early on, it's a pretty good short read!
The fact that the corpse is so expressionless because the hats the one with the face I feel like the ghost should be like super loud and energetic; only the extremes of moods; and at least a little stupid. Basically just Megumin
If we also want to keep the grimdork tone from the suggested lore in mind while we're at it, make it so that the hat witch summons the ghost back to finally meet the friend it never met.

Because that's what's popular. In any case, there are plenty of great stories being adapted every year. In any oversaturated market the majority is going to be stuff you don't care for. You're just pessimistic.
Any given episode of anime is funded in part by many different companies who all want a peice of that pie. Majority stakes and control are the name of the game, and so they'll put that money in trash that makes them money because the only that matters is profit. A terrible, unsalvageable system that chews up its workers like paste and spits them out with no remorse

Imagine the hat meeting the girl's old friends that ask her things she'd never forget about or powerful wizards who can sense someone's vitality and feel nothing coming from it. So many cool stories can come out from it. I just adore it.

I had an idea for her was that she was cursed and turned into a hat like decades ago and since she’s a hat she doesn’t age she’s been a hat for so long she’s forgotten her life as a person and small things she finds out about the body she’s using reminds her of her past life as a human idk I just randomly thought of it

I think from a character design perspective the ‘puppet’ tells the best story visually. You can tell the hat is actually up there controlling the body and it’s fairly unique as opposed to ‘zombie with a hat’

Lame. Why not keep the body that the hat inhabits be the new life they never had? We know nothing about the previous soul beforehand. As someone who has a doners organ in their body. Why can't they live without the previous owners life coming into play?
This has SO MUCH story potential. Imagine if the host's brain begins to reanimate, and now the hat has to deal with the moral dilemma of controlling a sentient person, while the host has to deal with a sentient hat controlling her body.
But the body is literally dead? The brain has no way of getting alive again because the body is more or less a puppet being controlled while the brain has no use.
What if instead of the person coming back entirely, the hat starts being able to access old memories directly? The daughter doesn't come back exactly, but it would almost be like a second life where the hat and the daughter would be almost the same person again. It could be sort of second life, where the hat continues the memory of the girl forward into the future. The hat could use its memory magic to essentially become the girl's bestie in actuality, knowing how the girl would think and what she would desire. Maybe there could be just enough left of the girl that she is aware of the hat and could thank her for taking her home or something.
That's actually pretty much the exact concept of the story I thought up after the first part of this mini series he has going on here, lol. Though I take it a step further and actually have the body having not engaged with the magic system before and they only wake up after the magic hat tries to use the magic system and ends up using a chunk of her soul to activate the magic and her soul reawakens

@@gabrielgingras814 A corpse being puppeteered by the hat that trys to get close with the dead girls family pretending to be the dead girl? The writter that can turn that comedic and keep it comedic is the man that can convince an open flame to take a shower. I'm not hating, I just don't see it.
If we go by D&D rules, the corpse would be under a constant effect of Gentle Repose, so you could probably revive the person at any time. Then they switch up who is in control of the body, depending on situation? There is so much potential here

That's an incredibly sweet backstory. Not only does it have the emotional payload ready but it can open up a nice theme of what makes someone human. That girl was a reanimated corpse till the hat learned of the experiences she had when she was alive. Having to play along and live through those experiences now by assuming the girl's identity gives the hat an epiphany on what it means to be human and therefore the value of being human.
And we take it one step further and create a villain that is a foil character to them. Some psycho necromancer that wants to conquer the land, nothing too complicated but a really great physical, mental and spiritual hurdle for the characters to overcome.
The necromancer could be killing people and reanimating corpses as a way to show us how inhumane he is. A direct mirror to the witch hat character. Hell, a cool idea would be that the necromancer actually killed the corpse that the witch hat uses, which ties the big bad to a whole backstory mystery. Maybe the necromancer needed the body that the Witch hat stole and now chases the character through their adventures

Since the idea is that experiences are the locus of value of a person, the Necromancer would be great because he is using the reanimated corpses for their bodies alone. The mirror aspect coming from yet another dynamic we can open up being individual vs collective. The witch hat just puppets one corpse and in that individual relationship there's a lot more care and attention. The necromancer however resurrects en masse and so there's an emptiness to their treatment. It's kind of analogous to how sole trader businesses sell things made with a lot of care and love whereas large corporations are soulless and just produce for the sake of it. They've lost their reason for their craft. Maybe the Necromancer can have one such pivotal moment that drives them down the necromantic path.

A quest to find the kidnapped body at some point would be fun. Especially if the wooden puppet was the best backup available. Especially if it had facial expressions that just didn't work quiet right.
I mean as much as I love a that concept is really dark when you think about it 🥶 because you imagine yourself someone using your family or Friends corpse as there closing or their body not only that but they also treat the corpse like some sort of clothes I mean yeah sure she started to treat the body like with with respect and like someone she knew and the story gets light-hearted but still does not stop from the concepts being messed up and what makes this even more messed up is how did she get the Corpse but as much as this messed up concept is I love for how unique it is
@@tovarishcheleonora8542 another thing I realised what about the family or Friends of the dead corpse wouldn't they question why she come back to life all of a sudden and why she doesn't have a reaction to her face when she meets them you think considering she them she come back to life and see her friends or family again she would say something and they wouldn't notice that facial expression changing hat she's wearing and another thing I thought that makes a concept more messed up what will happen if the Corpse dissolved 🤔 unless she have some sort of spell that makes a Corpses not dissolve because she's a witch And the most disturbing and chilling about the which is how she is cool with using some random person corpse sure you can argue some random corpse that nobody cares about but still this random crops could still have family and friends that cared about it Imagine if someone took your corpse and not only that but used you lmas some sort of clothes or body of their own Even though she started treating the Corpse like somebody she cares about it still does not deny that it's messed up disturbing concept despite how unique it is
This actually made me remember a concept for a character a made when i was little. He was a parasitic extraterrestrial plant whose seed just fell onto earth by chance. And when it started to sprout, a plant enthusiast noticed it didn't look like any plant he knew, so he decided to take care of it until it could identify it. However, one sad day, when the plant was mature enough, it just... launched itself to the eye of it's caretaker broke through until it could take control of the brain. This killed him and gave the plant the mental capacity to process everything that happened, giving him depression and a good ammount of self hate. Specially since it decided to not tell anything to the family of it's host because it didn't want to hurt them.
Yea, that witch concept is def up there. Maybe keep her a bit pale so the body still reads as less than alive. Unless the story still has her body doing all the normal bodily things.

This could make a very interesting RPG character, not necessarily a hat but a piece of clothing that uses a corpse as their body like "cursed" ring that could also be considered a grimoire as well.
