Have you been to a Sephora lately? Well, if you answered yes, you’ve likely noticed one major difference . . . say, the mini-shoppers. They've got the internet up in flames. What is going on?

It's definitely both. Parents need to say no to their kids and keep kids off of the internet. Kids are extremely easy to influence. My five year old thinks that every game that she sees with people playing and having fun will be fun for her, too. I'm trying to teach her the difference between the people having fun and her likelihood of having fun with the same game.
@satanyanko

It's definitely both. Pre-internet you were only familiar with what was popular in your own social bubble, you bought the products available in your local stores and that was it. There was toxic beauty standards before but everything exploded with social media. This is were parenting should come in, and many parents fail at that bc it's just so much more convenient to let tiktok and co. raise your kid right? Edit: fixed a typo

I am a 26 year old woman. The only skincare products I own are a natural soap, and a natural cream (shea butter) with no additives. People often tell me they thought I was still in high school. I have never owned a concealer, a mascara, a foundation. All I have is an eyeliner pen, and an eyebrow pencil, and some lipticks I was gifted. Nothing wong if someone has a lot of products, but not for children. Children DO NOT need all of that. It is sad to see them so early be so obsessed with their apearances, and not letting themselves stay children and enjoy these times. Adulthod is not fun, and these kids want to rush themselves into it.

My mall created a rule that anyone 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Younger kids were being dropped off at the mall to run around like it was a playground. They were getting into trouble, messing up displays, and, even if they were behaving, it wasn't safe for them to be alone. The amount of teens who are causing fights was also increasing. The rule has been in place for a few years and it's completely improved the shopping experience for the better. As a gen alpha pre-teen, I am glad to have parents who never let me have TikTok or wear makeup/skincare until I mature. I somehow think it's the adults that influence these kids, thinking they can mess with them because they are older, and honestly, I think it should be a crime to even manipulate tweens like this.

I personally think that if you're aware of all the problems existing in the world today and the somewhat concerning outlook of humanity, you will be a lot more conservative about the idea of having kids. Parenting requires a lot of vigilance than it ever did. The people who decide to have kids anyways, only some of them are vigilant.

as a gen Z girl who never used make up or skin care products even once in my entire life (i'm 16), kids scare me nowdays, i'm wondering how can they do it to their own skin. When i was 10, i would go outside, come back home only to eat dinner then go outside again and come back home like 9pm smelling like mud and jokes on kids who think i've "grown out of this childish thing", i still do that and life is great, all i need is just soap and sometimes shampoo when my hair gets dirty, that's all i need, i don't need skin care products, i don't need make up, all i need is forest to play in in order to be happy, i don't need to spend 2 hours on getting make up done because i don't use it and i don't need it, i don't use skin care and my skin is still soft and clean (unless i play in the mud but soap is enough to wash the mud off and everything will be fine, no need for skin care products), i'm not telling my life story (but probably i do), i'm saying that i'm the living proof that skin care and make up is useless and only damaging skin with all the chemicals, if you don't agree with me and you're like "eww, being 16 and playing in forest, enjoying life and coming back home 9pm? that's disgusting, grow up" then it's your problem, i'm being myself and nothing will change it. Have a nice day and stay safe, i hope i've proven something to you and made you aware that not all kids care about make up and being pretty (but i highly doubt that any kid nowdays is like me), i know i already said that but have a nice day and enjoy your morning/noon/afternoon/midnight or whenever you're reading this, i hope your life is bright and fun, goodbye.

As someone who is in this generation, I apologize on my behalf, and hopefully the rest of this generations kids. I find it insane kids use skincare. 10 year olds shouldn’t be allowed to use skincare, makeup ect at that age. My childhood is Roblox, Tom and Jerry and walks to the park with my mom. Honestly this is really crazy. I hope these kids stop. They are disrespecting the employees and everyone around them, my childhood (lucky me) isn’t skincare, makeup, or Stanley cups. And the smoothie things are downright wrong. And taking kids off the internet will definitely boost self confidence instead of comparing yourself to living Barbie dolls. Anyway.. people are beautiful without skincare and makeup. Wait and altering the color of your skin, isn’t that offending to some people? Aww, the part with the tent was awesome! I used to play with t that. Wait kids don’t care about the delicious burgers and fries from family cookouts? That’s sad. I guess if they’re being respectful and not getting brainrot from it.

This is what happens when we have a generation of children who are chronically online because their parents are chronically online. We can’t expect these kids to know how to function outside of social media If their parents never learned either. that is exactly why we have this problem in the first place. I understand that there are many parents out there who need a break from parenting, but sticking your kid on a tablet so that you can go on your phone is not a solution it is the problem.
